I must be in the wrong thread, I thought it said IRL photo thread....
I must have clicked on the "Cats behind the monitor" thread by accident.
I
love it how Ashen posting something pragmatic gets called "derailing"
but moronically posting pictures of cats isn't derailing the
thread?

Okay, this made me want to post a slightly funny Disney World story. Specifically, a Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida story.
So, I've been to the Magic Kingdom several times in my life... many times as a child with my parents and again for Senior Night when I was graduating high school. Every single time I've gone, everyone tells me, "Oh, you have to go see the Country Bear Jamboree show, it's so great!" And every single time, the show is either closed down for repairs or it's malfunctioning, whatever.
My husband and I are big kids at heart, so on our first wedding anniversary, we take a day trip down to Magic Kingdom (perk of being a Floridian... all the theme parks are literally a day trip away). And I tell my husband, "All my life, I have tried to go see the Country Bear Jamboree, but it's been closed or not working every time. Surely it's open this time, right?"
Nope.
As you can see, the Country Bear Jamboree was, again, NOT open. I had to have photographic evidence of the Universe deciding I shall never see this show. It's been trolling me ever since I was, what? 3-years-old? 4-years-old, maybe? This has to set some kind of record for the longest trolling of a person, right?
I officially give up. It ain't happenin' in my lifetime.

Well this was me in 2010 braving the outside world, without sunscreen!

Wow, I had to skip many messages. What the hell guys. Anyway, back on topic (whatever the topic actually is), does anybody play Airsoft? I do. (second from the right)
I also truly like to explore abandoned places (buildings, factories, etc). This was a huge abandoned quarry near my house. This photo unfortunately doesn't make it justice, it's way bigger than it looks.

There's an old quarry about a mile from my house. We hike through the woods to it every now and then. Ours was for Bowling Green Limestone, and from our understanding is the one that was used to get the Limestone for the White House many years ago.

- Logs on ME3 and sees it's pretty much dead.
- Logs on Forums and sees it's still dominated by the pretend Facebook thread.
- Also noticed every other thread seems to be a copy of every topic started 2 months ago such as Salarians, same power bugs, same animation glitches, immunity demands, etc.
Looks like everyone just kind of gave up haha. Bioware hasn't fixed anything, the posters don't play the game...

All the quarry here are limestone too, and there's plenty thanks to bad environmental management and corruption (most of the quarry are near the city, witch is insane and caused many lung problems to the population). Thankfully they are all closed and abandoned. Some of them still have vehicles and other relatively new equipement laying around.
There are also tuff quarry witch are strikingly different, though most of them have been converted over the years to agriculture. It's quite good for lemons and tangerines, and the colorful fruits provide a great visual contrast with the dark brown or pale yellow of the exposed rock.

A single ionising radiation particle/wave form hitting the right place is all it really takes, it's just that the longer you are in the sun, the more of them hit you.Lord_Sirian wrote...
The more time you spend in the sun the more likely you are to get skin cancer. Seems a pretty simple equation to me.
Even living behind one meter thick concrete walls won't protect against some of the more energetic particles/rays hitting our planet. Just because you're living in your mother's basement, doesn't mean you can't get cancer from some form of radiation.Poison_Berrie wrote...

That said radiation sources are also to be found in your own house and it's not like all UV radiation is absorbed by your house. Not to mention all the various other sources from which we could potentially get cancer.
Unless you're working in a labority and regularly handling stuff like benzene, try to keep cancer worries to a healthy dose.

The tuff quarries do sound pretty cool to see. We are big outdoors people, despite me being an IT guy, I'm still a country boy at heart. We camp and hike pretty frequently. My wife is a geologist at a park (http://www.lostrivercave.com) with a tourist cave (her speciality is karst). Probably the coolest places we've been hiking are Natural Bridge in Kentucky, and Red Rock Canyon just outside of Vegas.
