Ugh...
The self defence thing might hold some sway if you weren't quite so gung ho about it later on.
It's a part of American culture that has always sickened me. You guys are gun crazy. You love your guns. No wonder there's a massacre every other day over there. For all the time you guys go bible thumping about JC, you sure don't act a lot like he did. Quite the opposite in fact.
I have no problem with people defending themselves if it comes down to it, but the way you talk about it just comes across as gung ho and entirely attention-seeking.
Everytime someone goes to go on a killing spree and runs into an off-duty cop or someone carrying a gun, it usually ends fast. These kinds of stories dont make the headlines like the tragedy at Connecticut. You know what would have happened if the principal or the teacher had a gun? It would have been ended much faster, and more children would have been saved. There was a story in Colorado not too long after the Aurora shooting where someone did the same thing. Went into a theater intending to kill people, but there was an off-duty officer there who stopped it.
You can make a lethal weapon out of almost anything. Someone who is intent on killing is going to find a way to do it, guns or no guns. People who think taking guns away will solve anything are clueless. You are dealing with the symtoms and not the problem itself.
I live in a state FULL of people who hunt, shop for guns, discuss guns, and what have you. People at my high school would drive to school with guns in their pick-ups and just leave them there. You know how many shootings we had? Zero. Zip. Nada.
What does the Bible and JC have to do with the fact that someone likes guns? As a Christian it's not a sin to like guns or use them. You're taking things waaaaaay out of context.
