In order to calm the Halla sucessfully does my warden need the two ranks in survivl or will a companion's skills work?

Yes, your Warden does need two ranks in survival in order to successfully calm the Halla – your companions' ranks in survival don't apply. Good luck!

Actually, I've found out it's not true. My very first Warden had no ranks in Survival and still magically calmed the Halla. She had high Cunning though. Could that be the reason? Alistair had some ranks in Survival but I don't know if it matters. None of my other characters has managed to do that without Survival ever again since then, though. Maybe my first Warden had some natural talent - I called her "Fauna" after all, haha.

It doesn't have to be the Warden who has two survival points.
