I don't use charge enough on my slayer for it to be a noticable problem. Seriously, just put effort into different skills, the charge is meant for desperation and shield regen on this class, it's true power lies in it's vicious melee attacks and the slash ability.

Edit: Translation, my post has little to nothing to do with the actual Slayer. I'm talking about the Flying Vanguard glitch.

I've never had the glitch happen to me before, and my main classes are Vanguard and Soldier (N7 rank of 357 if it really matters that much, and I play mostly on silver).

Though, using the classes melee attacks, I can see how biotic charging and spamming the b button would do vast amounts of damage as well

The problem with the Slayer though is it's so darn squishy and several of your own abilities drain your barrier. So you go through it fast, and what's the quick solution? Charge. You could also just wait, but if you're playing offensively then it's difficult to not use it. It's part of the reason the class takes awhile to get used to.

With other Vanguard classes like the Kroguard, it gets a lot less usuage because you can take a lot more damage and thus the only time you'd really use it would be in a pinch. But again, the pinch is when the glitch happens.

Slayer has its problems, but "boring" is not one of them. Plus if he's ur first and only n7 character then how do u even know?

Ik by playing with friends that use the other n7 classes, and by the looks of it the fury, shadow and paladin all look far more entertaining to me. Of course my saying the slayer is the most boring can be argued with but as far as using the class as effectively and as safely as possible its boring to me. Then again, this could be just because its the only n7 class Ive been able to use as you said godlike and my opinion may be biased but as for that Ill have to wait and see.

Currently, my opinion stands, spamming 2 attacks over and over without even shooting gets old. real fast

Well... Truth is.... The Paladin is supposed to be a support class... He makes sure that you don't die... That's why he sits around... Probably not in corners... Maybe at chokepoints... Maybe even flanks... And he doesn't need to move with his shield out to block bullets...

i just had some Jack Wagon try to flame me on the way i type... if your wondering where all the hostility is coming from... just be glad i can actually spell and dont make you sit there for 5 hours trying to figure out what the hell im talking about...

try biotic charging and meleeing only... did it on gold it was a blast to get up close and personal and cut them to shreds... as for the spamming of two moves over and over... what do you call every other class... ones with abilities spam them... ones with out just shoot the place up... when you look at it from your stand point its all boring... try mixing stuff up and use your imagination...

But you know, you have a weapon? Other skills? Teleportation moves? You know, to diversify the gameplay and have fun with?

That is pretty much a biotic in a nutshell... Why shoot when you can just use your biotics that can do more damage... I don't have it yet, but my friend uses him and mostly refuses to switch to something else... just all depends on the way you play.

Interesting, so a class with 3 abilities and a powerful teleporting melee and teleport dodge, capable of using weapons as well (omg!), and you find it boring when you only use 2 of those attacks over and over? How strange and unexpected...90k on Gold is okay, but you can do even better, and perhaps actually have fun, if you actually use the FULL potential of the class.

Really? Not support?
1.) Slamming down your shield draws aggro. It will often make enemies stop attacking an ally and instantly head for you.
2.) Debuffs. Snap freeze + Ice Shield = 100% armor reduction to mention one very good combo.
3.) The class is suited well to playing aggressively as well. You can easily play that way while using the shield to help people out in a rough spot or to save yourself.

As for the last two paragraphs of that: you should get used to it. On nearly every forum I've seen, people tend to get annoyed if you don't use proper grammar and spelling.

Paladin for me.

The snap freeze doesn't sometimes work at all and the shield is stationary always. So it just doesn't tickle my fancy.

It can be used with great effect, no doubt, but it's just not a class for me.

I agree. I don't like the fact that Biotic Slash shares the same animation as Tech Slash. I also don't like the fact the tactics are almost the same as how one would use Smash.

take your proper grammar and shove it where the sun doesnt shine... doesnt make you superior to me just to use that crap correctly... im not here to ace an english exam mister i have no f**king life and have to pick apart others lives... 

draws Aggro my a** i stood right next to a paladin in not 1 game but like 100 today mostly in my destroyer class and guess what sherlock... i got shot way more... and his sheild is over rated... phantoms can insta kill you right through it... watched it several times and giggled my ass off at my buddy... 

snap freeze has its uses im not gonna lie... and yeah sure he can sometimes draw most aggro off friendlies trying to get off the ground... but the fact still remains the Slayer will out perform a paladin any day of the week... 

either way both classes are nifty and a welcomed edition to my aresenal... my main point is this kid and every one else needs to stop bagging on these characters before bio ware nerfs them like they did the INFI's... now an infiltrator (previous to earth DLC) is as useless as ****** on a bull... they used to be awesome... now anything can outperform them... mark my words kids bashing on the slayer class just because it makes them look useless will get it nerfed into a dust collector... just like the Geth INFI/ENGI and the Sniper Rifles... An INFI was supposed to be a Sniper Capable of great devestation like a sniper should be... instead hes just a retard holding a big gun... especially seeing how My Destroyer can out DPS An INFI using the same guns... thats a Soldier class... meant for Tanking... not sniping...

i used the full potential of the class and did 120k + on gold... with ease... im betting i still didnt use the full effect... dont like sucking up all the kills... leaves friendlies on my friends list bored and a bit angry...

Yeah and that is the way i've seen most people play the class. The Phoenix characters are boring too. The problem is it is also the most effective way to play. You can say: "oh I play it this way" or "you're doing it wrong" or "I do great not spamming biotic slash" but the bottom line is that most effective way to play the class is to spam one power over and over again.

You only have one character. You can't call one character the most boring of you haven't played the others. Also, use something else. Melee, charge, teleport through walls. They are there to be used. A class is not broken if you can do well with a certain combination. It would be broken if an upgrade didn't work (like the justicar) or one of the main features doesn't work (rage on a kroguard).

I wouldn't say infiltrators are useless. They still gave the best burst DPS, especially with sniper rifles and shotguns. They are still great for objectives. They aren't the majority anymore.
Soldiers aren't tanks, they are the weapon masters, and it would make sense to allow then to be good with weapons. Soldiers are good at sustained DPS, infiltrators at burst.

ok @ modok, its not the only effective way but imo its the only effective way for higher dificulties, because biotic charging a brute/banshee/atlas/phantom and proceding to melee can have bad results for the player. If you sit behind a wall the whole time spamming biotic slash then there isnt that problem. And ive tried shooting but no weapon on that class that brings me down below a +200% recharge is honestly worth it in the sense that biotic slash can more than outdo most if not all of the weapons in damage purely from the aoe. @ straw: I explained to another person as to why I find this class the most boring, I have friends that use the other n7 classes and by the looks of it the paladin/shadow/fury all look far more entertaining to me.

Haha samb, I just got done looking at your topic about the slayer. And I have since stopped playing him. Back to my geth infils and geth engineers, at least until they make a more useful move for that class instead of biotic charge (wicked, I respeced for biotic charging and melee and it was horrible. I was sync killed 5 times in 1 game) <----- Ik this is all the luck of the draw but 5 is horrible
