The thing with shaping your own face prior to the game is highly annoying. [ Xbox360 ]
For instance, when I try shaping my own face, I always put the cheeks towards FULL so it doesn't give you the akward face like in my portait for example.
BUT, when I try to use a beard, it automatically disables any option to use the cheek slider again, and it rests towards Not full" which highly makes my character look anorexic and damn ugly.
Is there any way to repel this annoying automated setback? I wish they brought out a character toolset for us all.

i dont think its possible to fix it. thats just it is.
i agree i envy the PC platform. BIOWARE should create a toolsetfor us XBOX 360 users to use. than after editing our character,we upload through the internet and than on our XBOX 360,we download out character. thats what EASPORTS did for thier new game FIFA 10.
where you create a gameface for ur soccer player than download it at ur XBOX 360.

Unfortunatly FIFA 10 is a bigger cashcow and DA:O is the aborted child of EA. I thought EA claimed they were heading a different way, but alas they quickly switched back killing creativity and great franchises...WESTWOOD ANYONE?!

maybe, just maybe. bioware has something up their sleeves for console gamers(DO:A) which the PC gamers wont have and they would be absolutely JEALOUS that they have to buy an XBOX or PS3. hahahaha

Actually there is a way to keep your cheeks 'wide', but you can only use the first beard in the list. (the Duncan style one)
Adjust your face like you want, and move the Beard slider one step to the right.
at this point DONT TOUCH ANYTHING ! xD any change after this will just make your character face look like it has been sucked with a vacuum cleaner
Works on PC (although ther are problems when you edit your character again with the character creator .. xD ) si might work on 360 too.

I know, I already attempted that one to the right beard trick, but it's not the kind of beard I WANT.
It's damn frustating, I might get it for the PC, just because I happen to care for the appearance of my personalia. There's no way plastic surgeons will change things later in the game.

it has to do with how beard models are..otherwise you'd have your cheeks clipping outside the sides of your beards...the toolset doesn't fix this.

there maybe a mod for this some day but as it is right now the pc has the same problem. although supposedly with the mouse interface you can modify the "first beard only" trick so that you set your face the way you want it and then click on the bar on the exactly beard you want, don't use the slider. Haven't tried it though.
