I am curious as to what classes this weapon synergizes with well. It would seem wise to use it with the Destroyer combined with is Devestator mode ability. Any suggestions?

The single player Shepard class will be the only class that use the PPR until they give it a GIGANTIC (like 300%, and no I'm not kidding, look at the enemy stats, SP versus MP) buff.

The "best" way I can see is yes, using the Destroyer Soldier with Devastator mode specced into magazine capacity: It gave my Particle Rifle around a 240 clip (with the magazine mod as well). Devastator Mode also prevents you from being stunned/knocked around so you can keep firing, wheras on other classes your beam would cut out mid-shot.

I don't have the Typhoon but from what everyone is saying, using that and Devastator Mode specced for fire rate will be like 10 times better than using a Particle Rifle. I'm still using the PR till I get a Typhoon, at least.

It has to be a tough class that can stay exposed for more than a few seconds. E.g. I'd never use it on Drell or geth characters.

@ Xaijin: A 300% buff would leave it doing in the neighborhood of 4000 damage per second. No, thanks.

@ Transairion: The best classes for the PPR would seem to be classes that don't particularly rely on power usage to be effective. It will be more effective on the Human and Turian Soldiers than on most classes, because it's hard to go wrong with Adrenaline Rush or Marksman in combination with any weapon, really.

I've also tossed it on a Krogan Sentinel with a no-Incinerate spec, and it does definitely benefit from being on a class with lots of tankiness (so you can maximize your time-on-target with the "hot" beam). A theoretical Krogan Soldier with no Carnage could do the same thing, although he'll lose some DR.

Um... what else? I've seen defensive AJA suggested before, and the idea has grown on me a little (although I haven't personally tested it). Another interesting concept is a Geth Engineer with no Overload, since Hunter Mode boosts your damage and RoF--and also gives you the warning you need to charge up before engaging.

Beyond that... everything relies too much on powers (Adepts, Engineers, most Sentinels), on burst damage rather than sustained time-on-target (Infiltrators), or is too fragile (Adepts again, Drell).

[Note that I haven't unlocked any of the N7 classes, so this doesn't apply to them.]

I'd only counter-recommend this because of stun-lock, which cripples a Krogan that isn't the Vangaurd. Being stunned also stops your PPR firing, so you have to get to charge-beam all over again.

I tried it on this class and got randomed Geth... yeah it didn't go well, good luck to you if you try it lol.

I don't ever play Krogan (or Batarians, or Turians) on U/U anymore. Consider my post amended: don't bother using Krogan anything + PPR vs. Geth.

In fact, I probably wouldn't use PPR versus Geth at all.

Shepard class. I'm extremely disappointed with it in multi.

I'm using it on my salarian engi. Set a decoy, stagger with a power, then open up on them.

I used it with a level 20 krogan vanguard on platinum. Use a piercing mod and extra large clips, plus an ammo mod for whatever enemy you are facing or who your team members are. Assault rifle mods help a whole lot to, gear or weapon rail. With the level 3 rifle mod and incendiary banshees and brutes and anything with armor dropped.

Destroyer + Pylon = infinite ammo = use whatever weapon you want.

Please don't use it on the Destroyer... not even he can make that weapon worth using. Harrier, Revenant and Typhoon are all much better options for that AR slot than the particle rifle. Ammo shouldn't be an issue since you'll have to restock grenades anyway.

Human Soldier, Quarian Female Engineer, Krogan Sentinel, Quarian Male Infiltrator, Quarian Male Engineer and N7 Destroyer they all synergize well with the Particle Rifle.

Also: try the tips in my sig.

umm 238 dps even at x 4 Overclock does not equal 4000dps. It's supposed to be one of the best weapons in the entire roster and the best AR period. It sure as hell isn't right now. It's a horrendously bad weapon.

I like it on my destroyer, and it actually does a fair amount of damage against boss types. I generally stick to my Krysae for mobs and small bosses, but against banshees, brutes, atlases, and primes, it really shines.

if I had it I would say salarian engineer. decoy grants you spray time.

but best dps will of course come from a soldier

Tried it out on my destroyer on an easy silver match. I hated every second of using that gun. I felt like I was using a beam version of the Incisor.

I vote this gun one of the worst. Did next to nothing to brutes and banshees. It even took too long to kill husks. I was better off Meleeing.

at higher levels it could probably be used by casters..but the recharging ammo kind of makes a backup mandatory

Lately I'm using it with my demolisher engineer. Works pretty well. But... I can't share my ammo tower for his bug, it keeps grabbing the termoclips D:
