I had mine specced for dark sphere at first and couldn't really play him off-host (95% of my games). Dark Sphere was too unresponsive, the explosions from seeker swarms were pretty weak and I found myself switching back to the 'prime -> shoot' that I'm comfortable with.

Now with DC for staggering mooks and priming in general (with warp ammo), he works really well with the PPR. Maybe I'm just more into weapons platforms now that I've gotten better at aiming.

Yeah, if most of your games are off-host, he's probably best played that way. I tried off-hosting Dark Sphere a few times, and it was just awful. Kept doing the casting animation with nothing to show for it. Got me killed quite a few times. The way I have him set up, though, the only thing I'm missing out on is some DC damage. I figured that didn't matter as much, since I only use it to get the Warp ammo bonus. Everything else is set so he's a decent power-weapon platform hybrid. Can handle Plat with no problems at least.
