Shale is technically an IT, but if you are going to use a pronoun it should be she - I mean she was a woman, she likes vertical stripes to prevent her from appearing too wide and wants fancy red shoes - totally a she.

And lets not forget hitting on Sten.

No doubt! That was so funny. Shale is totally a Sten fangirl and is probably on that thread asking why can't she romance him right now.

If you sacrifice yourself, the dog isn't even there for the eulogy. :crying: There is a brief moment when it looks like he is standing near Eamon, but then the camera swings around and shows a glaring absence of our faithful mabari. Playing as a human noble warrior, I had Dog in my active party almost all the time from the beginning, he was my character's only link to her past, the only remaining member of her family beside the missing-and-hopefully-not-dead Fergus.

I suppsoe it's rather symptomatic of the whole problem with Dog. They said he would be a full party member, but he barely has any interaction or action, no Fade nightmare, the Guardian of the Urn doesn't acknowledge him, and so on. Him not being there for coronation or eulogy, and not having an epilogue of his own, fits in with that overall letdown. Poor loyal puppy.

Er, I wouldn't really expect the Guardian to adress the dog. I mean, when he speaks to your party members, he mentions some qualms, doubts and things like that. What would he say to the dog? "I know you had discovered a stash full of delicious bones but left it so that you'd be able to follow your master; do you still regret that decision?"

Spoiler Warning
(well, ok, we're discussing the ending here, so that's obvious)

Shale in my ending plans to go with Wynne to Tevinter to find a way to become a dwarf again, so I think of her as a she as she seems to accept her past in the end.

Shale is an absolutely great character. Hard shell, soft core. Got her to +100 and did her personal quest. So, after all, we got friends. I really like her.

On the PC, Shayle is always there, well I should say she was there both times for me, and tells me of her plans for the immediate future.

Shale was normal for me once, then I reloaded the save and got this

Yes after you defeat the darkspawn at the gates of Denerim you get to talk to the Dog before you enter the city, then once its all over my Dog is standing there and ignoring me (curses all the dog haters at Bioware for not making him clickable!!!!)

Mabari are supposed to be a lot smarter than any real-world dog. And Dog was supposed to be a full party member. So yes, I would expect him not to be ignored in moments where every other party member is addressed. For example, the "doubt" could relate to not reacting sooner when the castle was under attack (human noble) or to the death of his former owner (other origins). The dream sequence could feature the demon tricking Dog into believing his master is dead, or that he and his master are safe and happy together, so you have to convince him you're the "real you" to make him shake off the demon's control.

And anyways, the Mabari are Imprinted upon their owners. SO the Dog will go where his OWNER goes.

Since that is the case, what OTHER need is there to talk with him? Want to hear a Congratulatory bark? Dogs of any sort don't care about queens/kings....

And after all this is YOUR Dog, bound to you until death, how hard is it to make an appropriate end for him just like all party members?
