Althought I haven't unlocked the Paladin, I'm pretty sure I won't be any better with him. I know sentinels are supposed to be a "Tank" class with their tech armor, but everytime I use them I feel even more squishy than a drell.

Any infiltrator. I just can't nail the play style.
Same here. It seems that to get the most out of the class, you need to be in cloak before you fire your weapon. However, the weapons they use are extremely heavy, single-shot, long-reload ones, which means the power takes forever to recharge. So if you miss, you're SOL.
You can use lighter/faster weapons, and still make it work. The Carnifex makes a great sniping pistol, and fires reasonably quickly. I pretty much play all classes as snipers, so I've learned a lot of weapons can work well if you scope them.
As for me, any slow, super-tough class is murder. I die three to four times a wave if I'm a Batarian or Krogan. Can't handle not being able to dodge, and the melee never seems to work for me.

I also can't seem to nail down a non-melee build of the Geth Infiltrator. I don't like being close for infiltrator shotguns on that squishy guy, but I find myself constantly conflicting on tac cloak vs. prox mine at long range.

The Salarian Infiltrator. I generally suck at infiltrators, but the salarian one even more so. I don't know why - whenever I play him I always get the lowest score. I'm more of an in your face/hail of damage person. Is it because I left fitness out and got all the other abilities to six?
Ironically this is my best character. Run with a sniper rifle only.
Spec everything for weapon damage where possible
Ignore fitness.
Proximity mine that does a Debuff (rather than slow)
Energy drain spec for shield restore and health/armor bonus
Whenever you are facing a phantom, energy drain her then kill with sniper rifle in 1-2 hits (i roll with krysae so noawadays thats takes a little longer, but its 1 clip per enemy, unless its a boss mob)
When facing a group or big mobs fire your proxy mine on the floor in the middle of them, it will knock them back, apply a damage debuff, and possibly outright kill some.
With big mobs keep that proxy mine debuff applied while you hammer it with any weapon, for extra damage.
This class is very fragile and best used at long range.
If you are about to die or shields go down, energy drain your target and its basically the equivalent of healing yourself back up!

Okay, I'll dust off my widow and give this a try, maybe the proxy mine strategy will be the key to success!

Reegar Carbine and Arc Pistol, only using Throw and nothing else, not even Annihilation Field.
¬_¬
On the next round I switched to Fury to show him/her how it's done.
We also have a Krogan Sentinel who on wave 7 is on about 3000 points. This is on gold. Me and this Shadow are basically duoing it.
Slightly off topic...
I myself don't really completely fail at playing anything, I don't think. o_o But that's just because I play too much.
