"Your connection to the game has been lost"

Also when i create a game no one is coming EVER, when i get a host migrate and i end up being 'leader' all is fine new people come old people leave. However this only last 2-3 round then i eventually dc again. When i invite people from my friend list they can join normally.
Also when i search for a 'Quick Match' (notice the Quick! there) Most of the time it takes forever to find a game, but when it says searching and i click 'cancel' and search again it has a game for me almost instantly. No this isn't a 1 time thing it happens almost 80% of the time.
The most annoying thing to so is the message 'YOUR connection to the game has been lost' i haven't lost anything BW/EA's server lost connection to me. If i were to loose my 'connection' i wouldn't be on the internet... If only that message would be changed it would be less annoying.
All ports etc are forwarded to this machine and tried without port mapping no difference.
Every other online game i play has no issues and i could stay online 24/7 if i wanted or there's some maintenance stuff going on. (BF3/Saints Row and some others).

Meanwhile I can play PUGs just fine, didn't change any settings, and was playing with these same friends all week before yesterday just fine. Fix your freaking servers, EA.

EA support told me: "Okay and as I can see you have already done all the troubleshooting."
OH THAT HELPED ME A LOT!

What? Bioware is upgrading their hardware? Wow they listened to my suggestion.

Yeah hope the upgrade helps. Finished a U/U/G game on FBGiant. Wave 11 extraction in circle 3 seconds to go.
You have lost connection to me 3 server. Its annoying when it happens so late in the game.
The only good news for me is it wasnt platinum or i would have missed out on a lot more creds.

I guess that was hoping for too much. Out of 4 attempts this afternoon, all four matches DC'd. Lest I forget to mention it, it DC'd while dropping some BW points leftover after getting Firefight. Points gone. Nothing given. FML.

On the line with EA support. Not because I think they'll help me (since the problem is clearly on their end) but so I can tell them I did what they want and have this problem on record. Suggest anyone reading this who hasn't done the same already to do so.

Yeah, I can connect to my friends again (YAY) but I've disconnected 3 out of 5 games today. Two of those were golds, and I got absolutely freakin' nothing cause I couldn't get back in.

I just got finished talking to them and they told me to go to Origin and click on settings-> pre-release version of origin and I repair install again but that did not work.
They had me do a clean boot which was basically going into msconfig.exe from the start menu and hiding all microsoft services and tasks and then deselect all services and tasks that were not microsoft.
They also had me close all non-essential programs from my Task Manager that were not System.
None of that worked.
Yesterday, I was able to get into 2 games and that was it.
I got dropped from 3 games before wave 11, at that point, I read that there was going to be a server maintenance on the multiplayer forums from 9:00 to 1:00 AM.
So what I am guessing is that whatever server maintenance they did, failed and the balance changes have been pushed back this week probably as a result of the failure to get the servers running correctly.
I'll hit up EA Support one more time but their process is "If A does not work, Try B, if B does not work, try C, if A, B, C does not work try them again."
So they are giving me the run around...
I already downloaded and reinstalled the game 3 times with all DLC's.

Meanwhile I disabled nagle's algorithm and kicked my MTU down to 1430, and I just played 3 games straight with my friends without issues. But who knows if that fixed anything. Feel free to follow those links and try for yourself though.
I did this on a hunch because somewhere I read EA's server operate with a very low TTL (time to live) which means they don't wait very long before deciding your connection is dead. If this is true, then by disabling Nagle's algorithm and turning down your MTU you might shove enough data down the pipe that you'll reduce your chances of nothing arriving long enough that Origin servers think your connection is dead.
I'll report back if this works for me or if the issues come back and this was just a fluke.

Well I just got finished talking to EA Support for the third day now.
I have Mass Effect 3 on my Desktop Computer (It works fine on the desktop)
I have Mass Effect 3 on my Laptop Computer (Which I use 99% of the time but does not work)
And
they gave me the run around again... except this time they said that
from my ISP to the EA servers the latency or ping was over 200 ms and he
said that could be a problem.
Here's a picture of the EA UO Trace tool utility connecting to the EA server to ping by using the server address of easo.ea.com
I blocked out my IP address for security concerns, but you can see the trace of ip addresses from my PC to EA.

So I basically told him...
Me: So
the game works fine on my desktop, except other people need to use that
computer in the house and I end up using my laptop to play.
EA: Strange how it works on your desktop but not your laptop
Me: Yeah...
So it can't possibly be my internet connection. Game worked just fine last week. Only within the past 7 days has this happened.
I
did a clean boot which mean going to start menu -> msconfig.exe
-> hide all microsoft services and deselect all -> hide all
microsoft tasks and deselect all -> Restart computer but still get
the same problem.
I just cleared the origin cache by deleting all the game installers but nothing worked.
I again for the third time tried to uninstall the game and re-install the game and that did not work either.
So I'm fresh out of ideas until EA gets back to me in an email.
They said they will forward it up to their senior team.
2
weeks of playing the Earth DLC on my laptop - no problems. Typhoon
patch is released... now I get all kinds of problems. 99.99% unable to
connect on my laptop.

Yeah, they gave me a bogus "solution", too. They had me defriend my friends since my complaint is that I can get into random matches fine, but I can't connect to/dc from my US based friends and I'm in Europe. My guess is my random matches are European groups. It's all quite ridiculous. But eventually if we keep at it they'll run out of textbook stuff they tell you to do, and hopefully these issues will be kicked upstairs.

Nagle will have no effect in the game itself. This applies only to TCP, and is part of the reliability layer. The game itself uses UDP, and deals with reliability in its own custom way. Your MTU will also have no effect on UDP. TTL is not considered on UDP since it is connectionless; the game invents its own connection/reliability instead.

Valid commentary. But Origin uses TCP, and I haven't found anything that suggests the Origin servers might not be the issue here, rather than ME3's net code itself.

After playing quite a lot today I've disconnected 2 times and i think that was just me. A 3rd time the game just 'stopped' all mobs were standing still as well as my team mates, even though the game stopped i could still hear them (complaining of course) and after 2-3 minutes i got the 'you lost the connection to the game' message.

I managed to connect yesterday only 1 time at 9:30 PM Pacific Standard Time and I played 1 game, then I got disconnected.
I have not been able to get back on since then. But if I can complete 1 gold game with my current setup, then the problem can't be my internet connection on my end.
It has to be a Bioware / EA Server issue.

Haven't been able to play with my friends since yesterday. Managed, by fluke, to connect 3 times out of 50 attempts. One game I managed to finish, another I got cut off on the 2nd wave and never got back in, and the 3rd I also got punted on the 2nd wave and miraculously reconnected on wave 4.

That seems about right for me also, after maybe 50 connection attempts, I could only connect maybe 3 times.

Yours just happens to be more interesting because you know something about networking. Origin is used for chat and to authenticate. Plus of course joining friend's list. But once a game is started, especially for non-host, there will be no TCP at all. The ability to connect to a game, even for a moment, means you got past origin. Being in multiplayer outside of a game tells you that you can talk to their server...the process of handing off as a non-host would be a route or UDP issue to the host. Becoming a host I believe requires talking to their server, but the people who join you would never see this, only UDP.
Really, the implementation of their "connection/reliability" layer on top of UDP seems to be at fault. The nice thing about TCP is that every device between every TCP connection understands TCP and has a buffer that will re-send if there is an issue...nagle changes how fast it resends, MTU will change latency because it will possibly reduce buffer fill required before sending. With UDP, every single device can silently drop entire packets, truncate packets, fragment and send each fragment, or fragment and silently drop any combination of fragments; every device past that device does the same, and not a single one of them will buffer and re-send. So reliability on top of UDP is not nearly as simple as it seems. I don't think BW's implementation works.

One thing you might test, if you know your friends' IP addresses, is if you can ping them. This isn't a definitive thing since a lot of people are set up to not respond to ping (sometimes due to the ISP dropping those packets). If you can get on origin, and see that your friends are on origin, then probably you can safely say they all have a route to origin and the game server. To start a game though, everyone needs to talk to the host, which honestly requires networking to be good between players instead of server; the UDP requirements though mean a good network is not the same as players having a good route between each other.
