 **Wall of text**

So in the EC DLC, after I chose the destroy option, the remnants of the galactic fleet are flying somewhere.Hacket is talking about the future of galactic society. He then says "The mass relays have been destroyed and it will take years to rebuild them.". That's not an exact quote but it is essentially the same. He is implying that although the relays have been destroyed, they can be rebuilt but it will take a long time.

The part that doesn't make sense to me is the fact that in one of the books, Anderson is describing going through a mass relay. He desribes how it makes him feel sick even though it technically can't since no time actually goes by when you use a mass relay jump. He then goes on to state that although galactic society can utilize the mass relays, they have absoluetly no idea how they function. He is pretty clear on the fact that They just know how to use the thing but that they could never hope of building one.

Thats like an average joe named bill. He knows how to use his DVR to record his favorite episodes of The Jersey Shore. Now enter bill's neighbor fred. Fred lights bill's DVR on fire and smashes it with a hammer. Although Bill knows how to use a DVR for it's intended purpose, does Bill have any hope of fixing his DVR? Absolutely not. Even though Bill fully understands how to operate his DVR he has no idea how to actually construct one. This is directly applicable to the mass relays. Even though society can use them, they have no way of reconstructing them.

Also if someone had discovered how to make their own mass relay, I would have thought this might have been in one of the other books or something. Maybe in the galactic news things on the citadel. Also, I think I remember somewhere about how some lab was experimenting with their own mass relay technology. Even though they were, they couldn't get it right or something? They could only send or something to that effect? I am not sure on this.

I am not bashing on the endings or hating on them or anything. This little detail just really bothered me because I don't see how it fits. If you can explain how this fits, please do. If you know of somewhere in the canon where I am proven wrong, please show me. Again, I am not ending hating, I just want to know if I someone can point out where I am wrong.
I welcome an attempts to explain this to me.

Thanks.

They were only destroyed in the original endings. They're only "severely damaged" now.

Cause, y'know, Bioware wasn't going to change anything in the endings!

I think the Asari were working on this. They probably have QEC with their fleets, and a bunch of the best minds of the galaxy are there as a result of the Crucible project. So I guess they can find a way.

Art is far more powerful than any of us can possibly imagine.

Mac Walters can stir up bull**** with a snap of his finger.

Ok Bill's neighbor fred just smashes Bill's DVR with a hammer a bunch of times and severly damages it. He doesn't completely destroy it, just breaks off all of the little legs on all of the things attatched to the circut board and what not.He also lights it on fire for just a little bit as to not melt it too much.

Has Bill recently collected all of the galaxy's top minds together to build the most advanced technological device this cycle has ever attempted?

So no matter what bioware does you are going to **** about it.  Destroy the relays you **** about it, don't destroy the relays you **** about it.  Reminds me of the Turian Councilor after Noveria.

He's referring to compromises they made when they said they weren't going to.

A galactic dark age was the original intention of the endings.

He's not ****ing, he's stating fact.

Oh look. A chance for the QQers to QQ.

Quickly, complain about everything you can. It's not like there's not loads of threads that are nothing but ****ing. We don't have much choice.

Bill calls his friends Ted and Jim. They are scientists but They have never Known how to buikd a DVR either because all DVR's and DVR like technology in the world has always just been there to use because it was created many eon's ago by a mystical race called the Magnovox.

Also, again, I am not complaining. I am just wondering if there is something I am missing. I Legitimately am curious and in now way am I intentionally complaining.

I was fairly certain the OP I read was not ****ing. He asked a question. All you've done is try and stir the pot.

You missed Mac Walters quote about the galactic wasteland? And that the Star Gazer scene was them just coming out of the dark age?

Don't rant if you don't have information to back it up.

Go, look it up. It's right there in Walters' Twitter.

Do me a favor. Don't pretend that you know me or know how I think.

And before you accuse me of b*tching about anything, check and see if I'm b*tching about something.

To be honest, it's pandering to fans.  A lot of folks got upset that the relays were destroyed.  It's a retcon plain and simple.  Truly, it makes more sense and is more dramatically fulfilling for there to have been a Galactic Dark Age (of sorts) followed by a Renaissance of "organic" technology allowing for interstellar space-flight.  They decided not to pursue this in favor of something more traditional, and frankly boring.

Don't forget they also just killed the Magnavox and can study their technology.

I recall from Mass Effect 2 that the Asari Bartender on Ilium said that they could build mass relays, but was laughed at by the other Asari Matriarch. I guess that means that the Asari know how to build mass relays, but the cost is apparently prohibitive..

No. You claimed to know the writers' original intent. Meaning you must be the writer.
Edit: I love ME3. One of my favorite games of all time including the new ending.
