When I save a TGA in the Gimp it offers me a couple of options, namely whether to use RLE compression and whether to have the image's origin be in the bottom left or top left. I believe the Gimp's defaults (use RLE compression and bottom left origin) work, perhaps the program you're using to make the TGA with has different defaults and the game doesn't support that variant? Just guessing, I haven't experimented with maps in a while now.
Speaking of which, I really need to update that tutorial. There's some obsolete stuff in there. Sorry about that, hope it's still useful even in its present form.

I added in how to actually import maps into the game, being as the tutorial itself.. wasn't helpful at all. Sorry Bryan if you are the Wikiadminguythingy.. No offense. Anyways I made the tutorial on how to add them, and can possible offer some assistance.
@Gordonbrown82 Did you replace the original worldmap in the worldmaps.gda? if so did you use excelprocessor to repackage the GDA. If ya did you should place them in the [Mod name]\\\\core\\\\override folder. Along with the .tga you are using. Now, when you are in toolset and you create a new map, when you select worldmap it should be your map that shows.
