Inspired by those crazy cousins in the Mass Effect forum.

Here's a list of Dragon Age-related dev accounts and some of the more interesting tweets over the past few months. It's fairly easy to miss tweets (especially with this many accounts) and tidbits of DA information are few and far between, but I know in ME3's case following developer accounts did give a lot of hints before info was ever confirmed officially.

Developers

Mark Darrah - DA series Executive Producer

Mike Laidlaw - DA Creative Director

Aaryn Flynn - Bioware Edmonton studio General Manager

David Gaider - DA Lead Writer

John Epler - Cinematic Designer, forum regular

Mary Kirby - DA Writer

Sylvia Feketekuty - DA Writer (formerly on the ME team)

Tonia Laird - DA Writer

Sheryl Chee - DA Writer

Ben Gelinas - Bioware Editor, on DA (current/past?)

Scylla Costa - DA Producer

Cameron Lee - DA Producer

Alain Baxter - Bioware Producer, was on DA team at some point, still harbours sekrits.

Jason Barlow - Bioware Project Manager

Sebastian Hanlon - DA gameplay designer

Aidan Scanlan - DA Assistant Director of Design (?)

Matt Rhodes - Bioware senior concept artist, was responsible for DA2 companion concepts.

Chris Priestly - Bioware Community doyen, may contain traces of snark.

News & Tweets

A tweeted-then-deleted image by voice actor Greg Ellis seems to confirm Knight-Captain Cullen as a character (in some form) for what he calls DA3:

Image IPB

Some of the more interesting tweets come from #sprintreviewday, which is (I gather) a bunch of meetings where team leads discuss the things they've accomplished in that 'sprint' session of development.

I've probably missed some DA devs and I'll try to add them to this post later.

Holy Mother of Partha! That was one of the many suggestions I put forth many times in the past!

My hope for DA3 has increased a bit, assuming this was actually said in regards to future DA projects.

Voice-acting recording, or at least auditions, may have been going on for several months:

Oh that'll be cake to take care of... if you're a Mage. Something AoE like a Force or Fireball attack that causes stagger/knockdown to take out the shield peeps and archers simultaneously. A Rogue could probably kick a flask in there or stealth in and do the stabby-stab. While... hmm... a warrior can inquire about the welfare of the Shield Men's Wives and the Warrior's Children.

Funnily enough, that was actually something I suggested be done as well, in my blog on DA's combat and how I thought it could be improved -- the same blog that mentioned shield users defending archers.

I'm intrigued by what they're going to do with combat. If these are all "In theory, this is what we're going for" then I'm definitely going to be paying attention, because it seems that Bioware will be taking an honest effort at fixing the broken gameplay and making it tactical, rather then tedious.

I mean, I liked how enemies had more health, but I hated the disparity in how the party fought and how enemies fought.

Although I'd hope it wouldn't be as easy as "Cast Fireball all the time, defeat phalanx every time"

I was playing Overlord II while I was waiting for ME3 to come out and I remember there were sections where choke points were being held by Phalanxes. And it was a pain in the butt as dealing them them solo was damn near suicide every time I had my Dark One charge in with his Mace and Magic.

Finally there was no more healing resources nearby and there was one last wall of shields between my Overlord and the scheming Lady who promised him sexy good times, riches, amd a city to enslave. I couldn't take them on solo, and all my ground forces were useless as they'd get slaughtered so easily, so I ended up using a small set of stealth minions to go in and assassinate their Leader and then had a group of Fireball flinging minions to lob fireballs at them to make them  scatter. After that I sent a third group of Minions on Wolf Mounts to sweep through and keep them from regrouping while I picked off stragglers.

While I do enjoy a good power fantasy, running into interesting situations which requires me to think about how to utlize my PC's powers and my companions/underlings abilities is even better.  If even just to break up the monotony of room clearing combat.

Aidan Scanlan may still be doing DA work (he was the lead for Legacy and MotA IIRC).

There was another one where David commented about the uncomfortable look between actor and observer when they both realize that the audition is not working out.

This is why you don't bring Bobcat Goldthwaite in to audition for Qunari.

A twitter thread is a really nice idea ,ElitePinecone . :)
Internet is great but informations are all over the place ...
I don't like Twitter much , (to me it's like :hey guy I just ate an apple! /Oh great i love apples)

Anyway talking about DA, they're still on "secret mode" so there's not much sadly...
I remember when Mark Darrah posted a picture and i was like "yeah!"
Then i looked at it and thought "ouh that's so cruel " :P.

It would be good if they made puzzles with CLUES! How can you solve a puzzle without clues?! Even crosswords come with clues, how can you solve a crossword without clues? Are you suppose to write in random words and hope that that word is the right one?
But that's pretty much how I feel whever I come across a Dragon Age puzzle...Just run around, click everything and run through the next door...Not much of a puzzle...

Please also make puzzles, puzzling with CLUES. So you can make them harder!

Didn't Origins have it so you could select tactics to protect certain members in your party or go Leroy Jenkins?  I never really looked at the DA2's tactics in my 2 1/2 playthroughs because it was all just hit the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX button.  I don't understand why this is an issue really.

Good idea, OP. I want the team to take their time on this game, but it's still nice to see some info .

Lol at the "redacted" screenshot.
What a tease.

Also, on March 23rd, Alain tweeted, "Feet are tired but survived. Platforms, Origin and some guy named 'Levi'. No one likes him..." This was another SprintReviewDay.

I have no idea what he was talking about, and jumping to conclusions would probably be a bad (albeit common on these boards lol) thing, but the word 'Origins' jumped out at me.

Well, it's possible that "Origin" only refers to EA's software, so yeah, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about that.

I assume "Levi" refers to Levi Dryden, the guy who hangs out in the DA:O camp to give you the Warden's Keep quest.  If you didn't own Warden's Keep, apparently he was still there, taunting you with his quest you can't have unless you pay.  So that might be an indication that they'll handle DLC quest givers differently this time around.

I thought that's what those door-like shields were for. Plop em on the ground and fire from behind them...

Those were only tactics that said "If X is being attacked by Y, intercept/cast spell/use talent/etc."

This idea -- the one I proposed many times in the past -- is about creating a phalanx where enemy archers are standing in back of the shield and sword using enemies, so that the archers can attack without being subject to being attacked themselves.

This not only shows Bioware is improving the combat system and how it plays out, but also will showcase real warfare elements in battle -- which will be critical for DAIII, considering a war is going on.

Me too. I'm very curious about when they will officially announce DA3. For Me3, they release a trailer over a year before release, so I'm hoping we get some kind of official announce this year.

I looked it up. It's been just over two years since DA2 was announced. I don't mean to contribute to the entitled whiny drone that is so often wailing throughout the BSN, but I think maybe it's about time we heard SOMETHING, right? For its flaws, I still liked DA2 and was very disappointed the expansion got canned. So it rather bummed me out when E3 then Comic Con came and went with no DA news, because those are the most likely venues that an announcement would happen.

I am completely for a nice leisurely dev cycle, and for playing it close to the vest, but come on. An announcement with a bit of lore and concept art wouldn't hurt, right?

Mark and Mike have pretty openly announced Dragon Age "The Next Thing".

Mike has also said he wants to have a solid batch of content that can be shown to the community, rather than just ideas and concepts. I think the last content reveal was the modular companion armor, which was a few months ago. I too would like an update, but I want an update with all the shiny new content to show off.
