Also, I forgot to post it here, but: the GW is most likely NOT showing up at DA3:

Tricky question. I worry that "we" could never do your character justice as an NPC. Thin ice with a lot of players."

I support this.  They'd mess her (read: my GW) up.  Just have a random NPC tell my new character that she's alive and ruling Ferelden with Alistair and maybe preggers* and I'll be fine.

At the risk of being the outlier, Iron Bull sounds too much like a refreshing beverage than a companion.

"Drink Iron Bull, it gives you horns!"

Perhaps not...

[smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie]

Actually, that is the first thing that came to mind.  I feel less weird now.

And for some reason the description of Iron Bull (from here - I didn't see the orginal) makes me think of Black Whirlwind from Jade Empire.

FUN FACT: As of now, "Evil" Chris and Gaider (who may or may not be evil himself) are scheduled to be at Dragon*Con in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend.  So maybe nothing's happening in Germany...  But DRAGONcon, and DRAGONage.  I'm not saying...  I'm just sayin'....

*I personally do not support pregnancy, but for some reason I think if it, by which I mean acknowledgement of my warden, happens, that will be how.  Even though I know like 80-90% of players use male wardens or something.  (Note: this is not researched in any way.  I'm just making unfounded claims)

I want my warden to show up, somehow. I think their best bet is through a controllabel route.

Not to ****** on anyone's parade, but if the guy is named "The Iron Bull," that would suggest he has horns like (some) bulls do. Sten did not have horns.

Or he just hates seeing a cape waved around in front of him. So much so that he charges straight at it.

THIS JUST IN, CAPES FOR DA3.

There is some stunning concept art from Dragon Age & Mass Effect, but sadly @BioWare tweeted "It's special exclusive for Gamescom attendees" :( I wanna see some new consept art too dammit.

@moraj0224 [Arcane Warrior] does get asked for a LOT. It’s certainly something we’re considering.

This was in regards to maybe including into DA3.

I'm fine with it coming back as long as the tweak the crap out of it. It was WAAAAAY too powerful in Origins, and I agree with them on the lines between classes being hard lines.

I think the best way for an Arcane Warrior to work is to make them some kind of staff warrior. I have this image of toggling Combat Magic on (like Blood Magic or Healing Aura to use abilities) and being surrounded by ghostly blue light that forms armor and turns our staff into a glowing glaive.

Before DA2 was released, I thought that maybe Hawke would ultimately be a firm or arcane warrior, regardless of class. I figure either way he was a mage, but if you selected rogue or warrior, Hawke focused his mage abilities into those talents. Rogues would have magic abilities geared towards stealth and sabotage. Warriors magic toward protection and enchantmented weapons. And of course the mage would be the traditional mage.

Still a good way to ensure a mage origin, I think.

I could never play and Arcane warrior in Origins. The "put away sword to cast some spells" part annoyed me so much. So I just used the abilities without wearing an armor or using a sword. I like using a staff and I was fine with the way Mage Hawke worked in DA2. Hawke had malee attack that the Warden didn't and that was good.

He's talking about the text to speech thingy they have in the game, before they have the recording of the voice actors. I wonder if it sounds both southern and robot-like?

The only southern american accent i know of is louisana one, like in True Blood.
Now I'm picturing Bill saying "Sookeh! You are maineuh!".
Add a robot like feel to it...how they can do their work properly...

They must be laughing to tears.

I'm fine with it coming back so long as it makes sense, story-wise. Not including the trapped spirit, there were only two (IIRC) Arcane Warriors in all of DA:O. Since one was a Dragon Cultist in Haven and the other was an apostate fighting illegal group battles in Orzammar's Proving Grounds, chances are they are both dead.

More Arcane Warriors existing is fine, but the uncommon/rare nature of the spec should be preserved, if possible, unless someone's opened a school. It's one of the things that really bugged me about Reaver being readily available in DA2; some specs, like Keeper, make sense being rare.

I thought it was a total shame that we found Arcane Warriors who weren't even conversation NPCs in DA:O. I headcannoned my main Warden, who was a mage Arcane Warrior, stayed with the Wardens after Awakening and recruited more mages into the Wardens ranks, teaching them all the art of the Arcane Warrior, creating a Warden subset of almost monk-like mages who had unmatchable battle prowess.

I'd totally play an Origin like that.

Southern drawl? Maker please don't make it sound like anyone from "Swamp People"! We really, REALLY don't all sound like that.

See, that makes sense, and it'd be cool. :) There are good ways to have the spec appear in DA3, lore-wise, and even good ways to have it be shown as a magey discipline that's coming back from the brink of being lost.

Yes, from memory the ME3 build that leaked in November last year had TTS for much of the opening scenes, it did sound pretty awful (though it might be different software...).
