We've got completely random ****** and vinegar posts. ^
Pages of off topic arguments about battle formations.....(if it goes too off topic for too long, it will get locked).
And even the DA devs..they seemed to have clammed up like virgins in a biker bar. It's okay to show a lil ankle, guys.
It's a game. A lil scavenger hunt for the fans. You know we like puzzles, and right now you're the puzzle.
See, usually how it goes is that the game devs tweet a lil something...that is True! Or alluding to a True! thing....but is so heavily coded, or veiled that we can barely crack it.
Just enough to titillate. Great word, that--"titillate". Right up there with "skullduggery". Or, "kerfuffle".
I digress. But then we--obsessive lil creatures that we are--scurry around gathering clues, trying to put together a bigger picture.
And of course the devs sit back and laugh at our lame attempts and outlandish speculations.
Occasionally, a dev will crumble under the sheer weight and effort of properly coded Twitter innuendo, and mad redaction ensues. Which of course means the fans get one on the board.
It's the equivalent of info streaking. Try to make it to cover before we catch you azz out. And we will catch one of you.
But...I understand, Dragon Age team, if you don't want to play. Stealth tweeting against minds such as ours is a daunting task.
In fact, forget I said anything. Focus on developing the game. Yeah, that would prolly be best.
Cheers, and all that....

Interesting...
Just like Fallout 3 when you decide to set the Megaton bomb off and the environment around it becomes moody and radioactive.

Of course, I don't know engines from turnips so it is very likely I'm talking out of the wrong end here, but I sometimes get the notion that the engine is holding the game back a little, maybe? I know it's somebody's baby and a lot of hard work went in to it and a lot of great things resulted from it and it works perfectly fine, but doesn't Frostbite work fine...er? And EA owns it so it probably would come at a pretty steep discount if not free, I would think (probably wrong there).
Anyways, does anyone know if DA3 is going to use the same engine as DA:O and DA2?

when someone asked if Hawke's story was over,
"Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw
@lookitmoves Perhaps not finished, but his time as the central "protagonist" is done, yes."
(and no DA3 news on PAX Prime; they'll hold on a little longer, apparently)

Or... magic!
Hopefully, tweets like this one won't pop up:
"Just populated huge area with hostile encounters. In under 1 hour! Level scaling so neat!"

@lookitmoves I think there's a fear that, if some things were intentional, DA will move away from party/tactical/epic/etc. Not the intent.

Wild speculation that's almost certainly completely off base, but if the devs are even toying with the idea of dynamically changing environs based on player choices, does that mean that maybe they are using a different game engine?

And I'm okay with that. I would have liked to have Hawke as PC some more..but all things considered....I'm okay with that.
"Perhaps not finished", huh? So, maybe we'll hear about something that Hawke is doing in DA3. I'm also assuming the Warden.
I ....I actually would not like a cameo thing. Or, having Hawke in my squad. I woulld not want that. Hear some stories, sure. Beyond that? No, not for me. To see and possibly interact with a character that was once "you"...but now it's not you anymore..idk..that would just be too freaky.

I like what they did in regards to the Warden with DA2. You heard stories about the Warden but you never saw him. I'd be good with that in DA3.

Although having looked at my Bioware list of people I follow...it's rather large. Twitter keeps suggesting new people to follow and it's pretty much every single person that works at Bioware....
I swear they're going to have a meeting about the crazy person who follows every....single...one of them....

You could work around it pretty easily. You can do the same thing I did in rpgmaker2000 over 10 years ago.Fortlowe wrote...

I had an area that consisted of a town full of ice, and as you progressed into the game, you would thaw this ice. I finished designing the town, then I made a copy of it. I changed the copy to look thawed and made the NPCs happy, telling the PC how they're so glad they were saved from everlasting winter etc. Whereas in the original, I wrote the NPCs to be sad yet adamant not to move [because of plot].
Whenever a player would enter the village from the world map, I'd simply check the plot flag of whether the town had been thawed or not. If not, then the player was transported to the original town. If they had thawed the town, they would be transported to the thawed variant instead. Technically speaking they were two completely different towns, but it doesn't look that way to the player. You could make far more than just two copies of the same area if you wanted to as well if you wanted to accomodate for multiple outcomes.
So nah, they don't need a different engine to do that. At least not as long as changes don't happen in front of your eyes in realtime. If the change happens in between area changes, you can do what I did in rpgmaker.
We've no idea. There are rumours speaking of Frostbite 2 like you said but nothing has been confirmed at all. Could be nothing but hearsay and wishes on behalf of the fanbase.Fortlowe wrote...
