They already said the game would be in more than one place.

Multiple PCs perhaps? Naah, but one can dream :)

If we're going to have more "enchantment", then the game will have to at least visit Orlais, since that's where Bodhan and Sandal are going.

Maker, please silence ladyofpayne for all eternity! I want precisely the opposite.

Good thing we're going to various places, that's much more interesting. :wizard:

Yes! This so much. Because I want to see Orlais and Tevinter....and..a bunch of other places. But at least those.

I really do want to check on Sandal. I'm concerned. There's so much turmoil in Orlais right now-ish. I worry for him. Is Bodhan still around? The way he was talking about biting the dust in DA2. Ugh.

I know they won't know who I am. Being a new PC and all. Well...maybe Sandal will recognize me. He's...interesting...like that.

Sandal's fine.

If you've learned anything by now, it should be that Sandal can get himself both into and out of any situation.

DA3 wont be able to compare to skyrim, but i hope they learned there mistakes from da2. Still my expections are pretty low.

Yep, DA3 won't be able to compare to Skyrim because they're completely different games. Skyrim = sandbox. DA = story driven/character driven, etc.

I prefer DA, to be honest, although Skyrim is a lot of fun.

I prefer DAO and DA2 to Skyrim also, I need plot, characters, and a storyline,...otherwise i lose interest.

Thanks for starting this thread! I don't Twit, and they just don't post any info on FB.

Skyrim just doesn't have a lot of replay ability, after I hit level 50 the game left me so bored on my attempt of a second play through.DAO/DA2 were fun on each play through.

I really hope they keep this in DA3,What's going to keep it from ending back up at GameStop after my first play through.Though I'm not to worried.Bioware does a good job at replay value.

It's a little old, but regarding a question on protagonist species choice:

Will depend on story and the role of your main character more than anything.

I'd have thought the main barrier would be the problems they've already pointed out, namely cost of voice acting for six (?) different PCs counting species and gender, and cinematic problems with character heights, but this is also an interesting point.

Yes. So I prefer one human PC but very good.

You must be playing Skyrim on a console. There is a huge amount of replayability on a PC with the mods out there.

Two counts as more than one, and you bet your life that one of them is Ferelden.

Of course, I don't know engines from turnips so it is very likely I'm talking out of the wrong end here, but I sometimes get the notion that the engine is holding the game back a little, maybe? I know it's somebody's baby and a lot of hard work went in to it and a lot of great things resulted from it and it works perfectly fine, but doesn't Frostbite work fine...er? And EA owns it so it probably would come at a pretty steep discount if not free, I would think (probably wrong there).

Anyways, does anyone know if DA3 is going to use the same engine as DA:O and DA2?

I would imagine it will depend greatly on whether or npt DA3 comes out on 360/PS3 or if its going to be slated as a nextgen console game. If its going to be a nextgen (presumably launch game if its coming late 2013) title, then they will need to have it looking far nicer on a technical level than anything they've done before.

A couple possibilities I guess, asssuming new consoles are coming late 2013:

1.) DA3 releases late 2013 just on 360/PS3/PC. If this is the case then its likely just using the same engine.

2.)
(a.)DA3 releases late 2013 and releases on 360/PS3 and nextgen consoles/PC. If this is the case they might be able to technicaly use the same engine or at least build off of it to beef it up for the nextgen+PC versions while the 360/PS3 versions are obviously less impressive. But this way you're not losing out on the install base of your existing consoles. And the PC version can still presumably look nice without being held back by the old consoles.

(b.) Another alternative could be that DA3 still releases on both old and nextgen consoles but also has a new engine, like Frostbite 2. EA has said before that they view Frostbite 2 as being "nextgen." And I wouldn't be surprised if early nextgen titles simply look like existing PC games that use DX11 and a bunch of postprocessing effects.

3.) DA3 releases late 2013 only on nextgen consoles/PC. Again, they could use either a beefed up version of their own engine or something like Frostbite 2. The problem with using something totally new like Frostbite is that presumably you'd need the tools to utilize that technology and moving to a totally different engine like that seems like a stretch to me.

I guess a lot just depends on the game's release date. If nextgen consoles are coming late 2013, then its a good chance DA3 is a nextgen game in some capacity and they're at least significantly upgrading the engine. I just cannot see them trying to release DA3 as a launch title on nextgen consoles looking like DA2 looked.  And I have a hard time thinking EA would be giving BioWare as much time as they are for just a normal current generation console game.

Next year most likely (probably in the second half of the the year), but my money's on DA III being released early 2014, likely around March.

Yeah, I kinda of doubt DA3 would be a launch title but you never know. The big question will the game be Unreal Engine 4.

Yep :/

But hey, if it's a really good game, it'll be worth the wait. I think once they actually announce it and start giving out details it won't seem like such a long way away.

That's what I hope, anyway. I'm going to need my Dragon Age fix in some form or another. :P

I'm fine with them taking their time. In fact, the more time they take to make it the way they want, the better. Something wonderful to look forward to. :)

In the meantime, I'll just keep reading all the great DA fanfic writer's stories.

Hardly, I'd wait much longer than that if we got a quality game instead of something that's rushed out with only recycled environments and a flimsy plot to brag about.
