I don't wanna wait that long for a videogame..
That is just insane...
While the 'ermehgerd!!!' in me agrees with you (:innocent:), 3 years between games is fairly typical. It was 5 years between Oblivion and Skyrim. I think if you want a good quality game it's more important to spend time on it. Games like COD where they just churn them out are always too similar to the previously published game.
Edit: getting back on subject...I have 37 Bioware people on my Twitter. I still miss about 80% of the stuff though since they're in a different time zone.

You can wait 10 years and still get a crappy game ...it's been known to happen look at what happen to the Final Fantasies . And FYI Skrim had recycled enviroments and noone complained half as much as the babies on this site. <_< You wait all you want Chicken Boy...Chipaway111 wrote...

Hardly, I'd wait much longer than that if we got a quality game instead of something that's rushed out with only recycled environments and a flimsy plot to brag about.

The problem with spending so much time on a possible DA3 and not releasing until 2014 is that simply spending a lot of time on a game is no guarantee that it'll be any good. And spending a long time on a game probably ramps up the sales expectations of the publisher. So who knows how many millions EA would expect out of a hypothetical DA3 if they're spending close to 3 years on it? Added with the weak reception DA2 had and waiting that long for DA3 plus likely launching on a new console generation with smaller install base seems quite risky.

I thought nextgen was happening sometime in 2014 or later?
Next year most likely (probably in the second half of the the year), but my money's on DA III being released early 2014, likely around March.
Yeah, I kinda of doubt DA3 would be a launch title but you never know. The big question will the game be Unreal Engine 4.
I seriously doubt the nextgen consoles will be released next year. They haven't even been officialy announced; plus games are still being released on the current generation. <_<

Which is why I think it's more than likely that DA III will straddle two generations.

The Playstation 3 was unveiled little more than a year before it was released in Japan, there's no reason that can't be repeated, even for an early 2014 release. Games were released for the Playstation 2 and Xbox long after the release of their successors (in fact, a game for the PS2 was released in March this year).

I cannot overstate how much I wanted DA3 to get a longer dev cycle than DA2 got. But I was thinking along the lines of 30 months instead of the 18 DA2 got. But 4 years? I can't help but be reminded that one should be careful what they wish for. Still if that's what it's going to take to get the franchise to live up to its potential, then I guess that's what it'll take.

Actually, next year is looking pretty good, if you're a console gamer at least. Bioshock, GTA V, Colonial Marines, Splinter Cell, Dead Space, etc, etc. I just thought DA3 was going to be a part of it.

3 years if we assume that development started straight after DAII's release (which I'm rather skeptical of). The waiting's hard on all of us, but Origins had a development cycle of around 4/5 years (excluding the 2 or 3 years that they probably spent establishing Thedas a s a setting, writing the lore etc.) so it'll almost certainly be worth it if the 3+ years figure is fairly accurate.

Aw crap, I think I do too! See, now I'm worried and excited all at the same time. Damn the waiting is the hardest part, especially when we don't have a confirmed rough date to look forward to... Or a confirmed game for that matter lol.

Meh, that's not a long time. Try waiting 5-6 years. That's how long we Elder Scrolls fans have to wait between installments.PinkDiamondstl wrote...

And really, that's not a terribly long time for real gamers. it's not like you have to go without gaming during that period, There's other games, other great games, that always get released while you're waiting to help kill the time.
Personally, after the garbage that was DA2, I welcome the hiatus. Maybe by 2014, I will have forgotten all about DA2 and how horrible it was, and my faith in Bioware will be right back up to stratospheric levels, like it was 3 years ago.

A fair few I dare say. Although the tweet about making Luke (whoever he is) sad is definitely about the game because she mentions to another twitter-er that they'll feast on the tears once the fans experience that part of the conversation in game lol.

Most of them, in fact. Just about all the tweets I've seen from Bioware devs are social, chit-chatty things that have much more to do with the Developer's human side - The type of subjects that would produce Locked threads if they appeared anywhere but the Off Topic forum. Which is fine by me. They're fun readsThe Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...

I think we're still a few months off before any truly game-related reveals can be found on twitter.

Guild Wars 2 has been in development for 5 years, its coming out in 2 weeks. They say it has 7 million preorders.
And YES Skyrim had recycled environments but in Dragon Age 2....it was OBVIOUS.
Some of us want real value when we pay $60 for a game.
