So Catalyst supporters ... how can you explain this ?

I doubt you know what creators go through and I also doubt that you don't know that creators have the say so whether or not you like it. I see you missed the whole small uproar while it happens with most games like every Bioware game. You don't have the freedom when the creator has the power while I doubt you would demand certain things to James Cameron or JRR Tolkien in their works.Geneaux486 wrote...

No you're speaking for Bioware, or rather, remaining tight-lipped on the issue on Bioware's behalf, as though you have some sort of PR authority to limit what information they choose to disclose to fans. And what if Bioware wants to talk to those villains who sent them death threats and childish actions? What gives you the right to deny them the freedom of communication they're guaranteed as Americans?

Ironically we barely have that much information on the Reapers and an AI leader isn't anything new in sci-fi either. Btw Bioware didn't change anything while added some dialogue to directly say that he was the Reaper leader.Applepie_Svk wrote...

And you stand before me and demand Bioware's silence so that your argument does not suffer, while pretending to be their PR agent and acting like the whole thing is on the up-and-up. Nobody has commissioned you with this mission, you're in it for yourself, and no one else, under the guise of altruism towards Bioware.

But while we're at it, explain this line: "So new life, both organic and synthetic can once again flourish." Kind of clashes with his whole point of synthetics will always kill organics doesn't it?
Secondly! "The crucible doesn't discriminate." This doesn't make any sense because he established that the crucible is just a power source, but i guess "The Catalyst doesn't discriminate." doesn't really make him seem like someone to trust.

Well a bit over the top don't you think. Unfortunately those types of threats happen to probably every business out there. There are crazy people that do crazy things-to cast a wide net and imply that those that sent such threats are indicative of the fans with complaints about the ending is ridiculous. First, may I direct you to the TOS Bioware has on this site and that this is the area for registered owners of the game. They have the ultimate control here over who they talk to. However, they chose to open up the discussion to anyone anywhere by using twitter and Facebook as the places for that discussion. If you do that you are asking for trouble. This is the company site-I know of no other company that has their own forum that uses twitter as Bioware has. It's specifically why they have forums.
I can tell you as a small business person there are some really crazy people out there. I sell products online and specifically state exactly what my products are. Some products I sell are my intellectual property, copyrighted material. For one product I must repeatedly state exactly what it is with text on top of the photo and red and bolded text throughout the description and title. You have no idea how many people buy it and think it is something it isn't. And you have no idea how many people get belligerent even when I send them an email confirming their purchase (because of all the errors in ordering I make sure they know what they are buying).
I've been threatened, but that is not representative of all the people that I deal with, and not even of those that do complain. When I receive a complaint, I talk to the person and sometimes even if the mistake is theirs and I will lose money on the deal, I do what I can to make things right. Why? Because the customer is more important than the sale. One sale is minor compared to keeping someone as a customer or the good willl obtained even if they are not a repeat buyer-because they may tell someone else. This is a major tenet of business and of all the management courses I have taken.
People that issue death threats are disturbed but they are not indicative nor representative of any group nor of those that were complaining and it's really poor judgement to imply they are or were. Death threats are against the law as well. CoD devs have received death threats as have other devs. So do celebrities. So does just about anyone who puts themselves out in the public eye. It shouldn't happen, but it does. That doesn't mean that because some crazy person threatens you you assume that anyone that has a complaint is going to do the same so you ignore them.
And claiming that something is your intellectual property and you can't change it just doesn't fly if you want to be in business. By saying this and by saying BW should stand by their "art", you are saying they have the extreme right to sell you whatever they want no matter what and you have no right to complain. So what if they sell an ME4 and in it they claim you will be able to play as a reaper. Supposedly, you will play the whole game as a parallel to the events of ME1-3 from the viewpoint of reapers and you will get to destroy the galaxy. And the trailers show awesome fighting and reapers destroying planets, but you get the game and all you do in it is play it like some older strategy game as if you are the kid on the citadel moving game board pieces. You were told you'd play as a reaper but you are only shuffling reapers around. What you are saying is that's ok. It's their game, their decision, and you have no right to complain.

So, let me get this straight: whoever disagrees with you and supports BioWare's stance regarding Mass Effect 3's storyline (THEIR storyline) is suddenly a PR agent for the company? Blueprotoss is right: this is immaturity at its worst.

Problem is that they said it´s their art but not their story and when fans ask for an explanation than answer was to headcanon own ending - etc, it´s not they story any longer.

it's all over analysis, the game co's can do anything they want to about the game, there are NO warrenties implied other than if the 'game' physically won't function, that is software problems. The 'idealistic' parts cannot be promised to satisfy the consumer, it's not a food stuff( of which we usually never complain if our oats are soggy, lol) All this talk about what they "owe" players is really just tripe, but is integral to the games as it's part of it. I commend any game makers who puts up an entire social site just to accomplish some form of feedback for their games in regard to the 'idealism' of satistfaction with idealism. Entertainment is hyped, it's part of entertainment called advertisment.
But to digress, it's a given that if the 'game' doesn't compare to the hype, then the game makers need to adjust their advertising. Eventhough neigh impossible to do, what with the diversity of users, it would be like putting a painting up for sale by putting a painting up for sale. WYSIWYG

lol, you got a point there..they DID rely on that for feedback quotas..a little tooooo much imo.
edit: another thought tho, it cannot be expected for the game makers to just 'spill the beans' with what is what with any game as far as the relationship with imagination of the game makers vs the the imagination of their users. It'd be like a book that all the text is just a copy of the cover.

The source material is retained by the developer. That they ask you to speculate does not give you the rights over the canon because - simply - there is no canon. They said it themselves.

Just because there are common threads in the storyline between playthroughs doesn't mean that the game in its entirety has a canon.
The onus is on you to prove your statement. I don't want to waste my time arguing with juveniles.

My statements prove themselves, I'd not like to waste your time whilest wasting time wasting time.. I'm older than hair..lol (I invented 'juvenile')
actually, the writers have their canon, but we just have to figure it out. Proving such a thing is impossible, as the writers aren't going to 'fess up' to their canon. It's not in their best interest,as a business, or game developer. Just to 'pose the questions' via the game media. I can understand that/if you cannot handle the truth of the matter, it's, not your fault..lol

It can klll the Reapers. It absolutely is a weapon. Furthermore, the Catalyst tells Shepard the name of the race that created it would mean nothing to him, which is true, what does it matter. Catalyst also said the Crucible changed it, and created new possibilities, so obviously, while it may have been a power source, it was also capable of much more than that.
See, the thing is, the 'starkid' is lying to you. Bad enough that it takes the ghostly visage of the kid you could not save to Frack with your head. But the fact that it can take on that aspect means it has access to your thoughts. Reminding you that it is a Reaper bent on indoctrinating you.
Definition: Catalyst - something that causes activity between two or more forces or people without itself being affected.
The Crucible is not the Catalyst obviously. The Crucible is docked with the Citadel and this opens 'new possibilities' for starkid, implying Starkid has been changed. Ergo the Citadel is the Catalyst, as the Protheans VI stated,. The fact that the Starkid was affected, by the docking of the Crucible, with the Citadel, refutes the Starkid ascertation that he is the Catalyst.
