Dont forget that the red option will distinguish between organics and synthetics - but with lower ems it cannot distinguish and targets everyone. (at least the citadel energy explosion kills everyone on earth and nearby. The fact hackett is alive pretty much says that elsewhere in the galaxy they didnt get killed I guess)
There's also a dude on Earth who's alive.
You know, after the whole planet is incinerated. Maybe he hid in Vault 13.

yeah it destroys sysnthetic life, not hard to understand

The Geth will also die.
I'm confused... Is it death to Synthetic LIFE, death to anyone & anything with Synthetic parts, or things with Reaper components?
Geth and Reapers are synthetic lifeforms. Relays are full of synthetic parts. And EDI (and Normandy) has Reaper components...
It seems to me the Crucible energy is distinguishing between a lot of things, and then extinguishing them.
Does it only destroy the Reaper parts? Does it also destroy parts attached to them? Quarians have lots of synthetic implants (eg. Nerve-stim Pro) and Geth upgrades (eg. enviro-probe). Do their suits also explode?
What about Zaeed? Half of his face is synthetic... What about biotic implants? Those are synthetic. Does Kaiden also explode? What about the Asari?
Where does the Crucible energy draw the line? And why does it draw the line there? Who's telling the Crucible to draw lines?

Let me help you. This is a weapon that effect all tech but focuses on AI. It a weapon that kills AI, not reapers alone. The mass relays are not AI so it will not be destroyed.
Reapers are not AI.

1. Low ems is just a cause of low dalusion of power. This is a massive electric current. If is has nothing to truely control it it becomes adevistating blast.Xellith wrote...

Yes they are AI's. I think you need to takethe time to learn what is an AI.The Angry One wrote...

The reapers are machines made out of organic parts, that still makes them machines and AI.

So why does Shepard die? Is he an AI? And if it affects all technology, why doesn't it kill all ships and Quarians?
Almost all tech in the Mass Effect Universe is based on Prothean tech, which was based on Reaper tech. Pretty much every race copy-pasta what they can from the Mass Relays. The wave should have destroyed all ships, all relays, everything. Anything with element zero in it should have exploded. That means every Asari, every biotic, Eezo mines, FTL cores, guns, cannons, and Traynor's toothbrush.

Their minds are made up of a gestalt intelligence made from organic minds somehow.
That is not AI. You may say it is a form of artificially constructed intelligence, but it's not the same technologically now, is it?

I firmly believe that Reapers are not AI. The Catalyst is, but not the Reapers. They are VI at best, since they are controlled.
If I attempt to logically explain why the Reapers are destroyed, but not the relays, I come up with this - nothing is destroyed, only severely deactivated, like Shepard in the beginning of ME2. The relays are easier to rebuild, since the somtware and hardware behind them is somehow not as complicated as the Reapers. Also, why the hell would anyone want to rebuild a Reaper anyway?
