Extraction is pointless. You can just start another match to rambo on. No need to drag the current one out past wave 10 objective, especially if you'll be playing for hours, match after match. You'll get XP in the next match.

War assets? Well that just makes me happier we all suicided on wave 10. ME2's single player sh*ts all over ME3's.

If I'm the last one alive, I can't help but it want to beat the wave. It's fun to try and solo some bits yourself if you land in it without knowing. It becomes way more challenging and fun!

If some think it's a waste of time, so be it, you're free to leave when we extract or when we die and then ignore/avoid me afterwards. But I play to have fun. I am sorry if you're not having fun while I am though but... what can be done about it without the other being forced to remove their fun?

Best to just leave it at a "let's agree to disagree."

Getting all the credits is winning. I don't need a splash screen or the announcer to tell me I've won. I know when I've won or lost.

You should communicate that before the game start. The default mindset for the majority of the players is to play to win. If you don't tell them that beforehand, of course they'll try their hardest to survive. Furthermore, I'm willing to bet most people (ones that don't go on BSN) don't know that you don't get extra credits at extraction. I didn't know that in the beginning of ME3 multiplayer because I never even really bothered to look at the kill feed when I play the game unless I want to know how someone died.

Killing those two Brutes and single Ravager is extremely difficult when mopping up Wave 10. And the length of Wave 11? GAWD, it takes forever to extract!

I got to experience a match with three players with this mindset. I was staying alive without dying (Silver and my go to class the Turian Soldier) they continued to run into the enemy to suicide; I would kill the enemy and revive them. They proceeded to cuss and the like telling me we had gotten the money and could do another mission.

The continual bombarding of F bombs spurred me to turn my mic on, I replied.

“Greetings, if you choose to not try and get the extraction I am happy to leave and let you restart with a new Leader, last I checked the Leader leaving really throws a monkey wrench in your lazy play style.” Mic Off

We finished with a full extraction.

The term "giving up" only applies if you set a goal and decide to "give up" on reaching it. 

Flamboyant believes that winning means accomplishing the mission. Which you do after wave 10. There is absolutely ZERO incentive to continue on past that point, other than some romanticized belief that you're some kind of war hero or video game god.

You're right, you should never try to be the best at or do the best you can no matter what it is. Sounds like the try-hard comments you hear in FPS. Like I said, if you are playing with friends and you decide not to get back up fine with me. I do it all the time because we don't need the xp. However, you choose to play with randoms you will come across people who want to win for one reason or another and I see nothing wrong with that.

 problem here is that you aren't winning anything. Like another poster said, the victory is at wave 10, not 11, 11 is simply redundant. you can technically just run around the map until extraction time, There is no point or reward for continuing to kill the enemies in this wave. Nothing to prove. Often times these types who 'want to win' are the ones you ended up rezzing through the parts of the round which actually mattered.

 Edited to add, if bioware did something like offer extra credits depending on how many people are extracted at the end, it would entice more people to bother finishing the round.
