So I decided to join the forums today to join the DA community, and the first thing it asks me to do is Choose my language. So I'm like "Alright, English it is!".

But I notice something funny in the air... the smell of... ham and syrup or something. It was pungant, yet familiar at the same time. I notice there's a Canadian Flag next to my native tongue. Why am I forced to associate myself with the Imperial Republic of Canada? I don't find myself living in an igloo, eating maple syrup yogurt with canadian bacon (in the US we just call it ham) sprinkles on it. I'm from the god damn US of A. I demand to be represented in a respectable fashion. I'm sure other proud Americans would feel the same way about this. Why are americans all of a sudden treated as some minority.

Do I speak Canadian English? Does this forum have some sort of filter that translates "about" as "aboot" and "hey" as "ey"? Well good ladies and gentlemen, I speak American English. That's the talk of eating an American Cheeseburger for the sake of it, revving up my muscle car's englne as loud as I can just to ****** of the neighbors, sitting on my porch with my dog catching a smell of good American air. If I wanted to be affliated with Canada, I'd wait until I were drafted for war, then make a run for the border. Good day to you I say, Good day.

You didn't choose the 'American' language setting?

I'm pretty sure English is a language derived from The country of England, which were also "English", who settled America. Not Canada. That was the dirty french man.

Then why are you saying it should be the American flag, and not England?

Either would be suitable, just not that filthy Canadian flag. Is something about this matter troubling you as well?

Fact 1: Believe it or not, but there are multiple different kinds of English. Canadians tend to lean toward using a more British spelling of words.

Fact 2: BioWare is based in Canada, so it's unsurprising that the site has a Canadian English option. It always makes me happy the have it, but if it's lacking I make due with the British version.

Get over it. It's a tiny icon on one page. No one version of English is overly better than the others.

Canada burned down the White house at one time!

Canada can kill jolly old England in Ice Hockey!

Canada gave the world William Shatner and Celine Dion!

Thus... WE WIN! You LOSE! Accept your fate.

That's cool, but you're all related to the french deep down and always will be. When a war comes to canada, you will all flee for another country, imo.

It grates me when I see a US flag next to an "English" language option.

Then again, I'm a whiny Brit. (And not even an English one at that)

American sucks hard. This is a fact that almost the average american are purely ignorant and stupid. Much of them don't know what's going on in the world. USA is being flooded with immigration at a point that the majority of its people aren't real american. Don't ****** me of with your crap dude.

So you're "patriotic" until your country calls on you?  ...Wow.  Just wow.

Arrogant comments like in the OP is why the U.S.A. is only popular in the U.S.A.  I haven't seen that much ignorance in a long time -relatively speaking - thanks for reminding me it's still lurking.

Also, there was a thread topic about this ages ago.  And was generally handled with more aplomb.

Huh, I don't much care, but on almost every game or site I've ever used I've had to choose between only two options American English or British English (if there was a choice at all). At least Canadian makes it a bit different.

As a matter of fact, I don't speak ANY of those Englishes - Australian English, thanks very much mate.

Lockdown. This has gone too far off topic.
