3 - Elf
4 - Dwarf
5 - Kossuth
6 - ...Dragon?
I doubt they will, we'll probably get another human protagonist but I can dream can't I. Definitely just one race though if they're going fully voiced.

"While we haven't yet discussed the inclusion of player race options, I will point out that if the assumption is that race options are primarily limited by VO that's incorrect. It plays a part, certainly, particularly with the already-established accents, but the difficulty with player races primarily relates to the amount of model variations required and to cinematics (height differences between the races).
None of these are impossible to overcome, provided we believe the expense is worth the pay-off. Obviously there are those among you who feel this is so (and since the expense is the same for you, it must seem like a no-brainer from your side of things), so we'll see".
That is a quote from the man himself.

Uhm... it shows voice-acting isn't the main issue, therefore contributing to the conversation at hand about it being impossible to have multiple playable races due to the large amount of voice-acting.
Did you read the post?

Although it would be interesting if for each game after O they had a different race be the protagonist.

I
I like this idea too. It would be a cool little literary device to further tie the different games in the DA franchise together. The first game gave us a small taste of what being each individual race was like, but it was tempered by your PC elite Grey Warden status. Each consecutive game could give us further clarity of life in Thedas by working down the list of available races.
That said (and I've mentioned this before) I'd hate to be an elf just so I could have pointy ears and pretty eyes. I'd want characters to treat me realistically and have my racial background make more of an impact than it did in DAO. If I can blithely run about town w/out being questioned as to how an elf dare bear arms, or be told that female dwarves aren't seen much in armor around Kirkwall (etc) then I'd rather just be a human. DA2 actually did a pretty good job of it, in my opinion, though. I felt like Hawke dealt w/ a bunch of grief for her refugee status, so I'm sure whatever back story Bioware cooks up will be properly attended to.

I'm actually surprised that it's models that are the limiting factor. They already come up with an array of diverse models for the various races (mostly). They've got the animations on both sides for shorter races talking to taller. I'd think modelling the PC in various races would already be done by virtue of the NPCs.
Hmm, the things you learn.
I was surprised myself when I first heard read this. I assume its more likely referencing pre-rendered scenes like the Corypheus Death Scene in Legacy (if you've played it).
Another example would be the Archdemon Killing Scene. I assume it is due to them wanting to differentiate the races in "how" they do it. I'm speculating though. They develop the game so they ought to know.

But I'm hoping for a Kossith PC. The romances alone would be hilarious.

Qunari... except not. Those tall, horned beings are mostly known as Qunari because they follow the Qun. However, their race is actually called Kossith. It's a bit like how all the Dalish are known as... well... the Dalish even though they're all Elves.
Sten from Origins is a Kossith who is also Qunari. Maraas from DA2 is a Kossith who is not a Qunari.

But if that's not the issue, please go all the way, Bioware! The more differences to Dragon Age 2 the better!
