On a side note, I'm quite content that the flaming sword doesn't add to SS.. I liked the utility of armour destruction better than shield removal (which, imo, looks better).. but I like a plain looking blade better. Flames and thunder were a tad overkill on a "subtlety" based character

I also have been running with Scorpion so far because I can stagger multiple enemies if I decide to SS into a group. Might try the Piranha next time though.

Hunters: If a Hunter is cloaked, you can still do a SS on them if you can center them in your sites. Otherwise wait for them to break cloak when they fire at you or preferably a squad mate.

Excellent guide by the way OP. Gives the community everything they to know in regards to Build, weapons and gear as well as contributing bonuses and tactics, the most important aspect for this class. Well done!

This was the exact build I had in mind.. but I am afraid to go dmg over shield drain.. Just how effective is the shield drain? Is it full restoration..? Also, how efficiently does it come into play -- I presume you will want to do hin't run kills (odschool rogue style), meaning that you will seldom be underfire.. And if you are, indeed, under fire odds are you will be shredded regardless unless you beeline for cover (Platinum, mind you).
On a side note, I'm quite content that the flaming sword doesn't add to SS.. I liked the utility of armour destruction better than shield removal (which, imo, looks better).. but I like a plain looking blade better. Flames and thunder were a tad overkill on a "subtlety" based characterbut that comes down to aesthetic preferences.
The shield drain/restore works well on shielded enemies, but I find damage more useful as a dead target can't fire back, and so no need to restore shields. I take plenty of fire, but I try to take cover long enough to get my shield gate up (10% shields is plenty) and then continue my SS rampage. Using TC > SS > (hide while still cloaked) offers much more surviveability than the shield restore and damage reduction evolutions of SS combined.

The shield drain is a no-brainer. With it you don't have to worry about equipping cyclonic modulator since you will drain phantoms' barriers almost completely even without the 20s damage bonus. Your target priorities should simply be shielded enemies.
I also have been running with Scorpion so far because I can stagger multiple enemies if I decide to SS into a group. Might try the Piranha next time though.
Shield drain doesn't increase damage to shields/barriers. It just transfers the energy to restore your own shields. Damage over shield drain/DR leaves OHKed targets and less need for shields/DR.

Thank you! Excellent build; I'll be using this (I also use your Justicar build).

I'm still trying to get a handle on the Fury. My attempts so far have been poor or at least not to my satisfaction. Maybe if I host I'll get better explosions.

This is the build I use on my N7 Shadow and it is a lot of fun, and effective. Generally I carry a Piranha equipped with a Shredder Mod and Smart Choke, though I may swap the Smart Choke for the High Caliber Barrel. I use it in the same manner as you/the OP. I also carry the Acolyte Heavy Pistol equipped with the Pistol Scope and Melee Stunner. I use it from cover to remove Shields/Barriers from Geth Pyros, Phantoms, and Banshees. The Pistol Scope I use to lock on to targets outside of my usual reach so I can Shadow Strike them. It also frees up a Mod Slot on my Piranha.
Question for the two-gun setup:
Doesn't the Melee mod only work on SS WHILE you are using that gun?
I mean, if I put Melee Stunner on Acolyte but do SS while Piranha on my hand, I do not get the melee bonus?

Correct. You'd have to do a lot of back and forth switching between guns to take advantage of melee stunner, or equip melee mod on both weapons. Better to just take one weapon in my opinion for faster recharge and less hassle. The Acolyte is really only useful against Phantoms and bosses as all others die in one SS if built for full damage. Stick with a single shotgun or heavy pistol with melee mod.

I did not know that, guess I will swap to one weapon. Thank you for clearing that up for MorinthSamara and for teaching me something new.

nice, some more health would be nice though
With this build, she has 675 of Health/Shields. Her max is 775 and would not make up for the additional damage being dished out by speccing for melee instead, since melee bonus boost SS (except evo 6 for shield/armor damage). Her health is fine at 675.

Might go for 6,4,6,4,6. Not overly fond of ES, and Armour busting firesword has been very good to me.

No matter how much damage you attempt to make shadow strike do it will always be lack luster against bosses because of the broken 6th evolution of Sword Master. I highly recommend you spec SS for defensive/survivability purposes and don't center your build around it's damage.
The Electric Slash can be a devestating move that drops mobs to the ground along with their shields because ES is easily one of the best Tech Burst detonators and has force that staggers and drops enemies. I strongly recommend taking the skill to rank 6 so you can get the added range that makes ES travel 30 meters-this evolution makes ES very good.
So, my build for a platinum Shadow is:
TC(6)-duration,melee,bonus power
ES(6)-damage,detonate,range
SS(6)-damage reduction,electric damage,shield drain
Passive(0)-
SM(6)-damage,speed,armor damage
Always use melee gear, equipment, weapon melee attachment mods, and a power amp. You will be able to one hit most enemies with SS if your add-ons are good. For weapons all you really need is something that your comfortable with that can deal good damage, I personally use either my Harrier X or a Pirahna X-of course.
This build is highly efficient on platinum for shield stripping, tech bursting, flanking, killing mooks and phantoms, objectives, revives, and finishing off bosses.

I was just told that Rank 6 of SM is completely broken. Someone also mentioned Power is broken too, but the poster didn't say which Rank/Tree this was. Can someone clarify?
Sword master evolution 6 does NOT apply added melee damage for Shadow Strike.
Power bonuses DO affect Shadow Strike by enhancing damage.
