Correct.  Weapon Damage evolutions do not boost weapon melee mod damage, only weapon fire damage.

I'm actually trying to decide whether or not the full damage spec for Shadow Strike is actually necessary. But it looks like, with a Berserker Package II and Stunner V, I've actually got more SS damage than I need for Gold play. And so I'm looking longingly at the idea of swapping N7 Shadow Rank 5 for the Detonate evolution of Electric Slash.

I've started mixing ES into my SS more over the past few days, and it does actually make a very nice complement for SS. The tech burst is only really useful for bosses, but it's incredibly useful there. Essentially, any infantry that doesn't die to the first SS will be killed by the ES, which gives you a one-cloak-cycle kill against Phantoms, Turrets, Hunters, and Pyros. A Cloak > SS > evade > ES cycle is also safe to use on any boss that doesn't turn quickly (Atlases, Brutes, Ravagers, and Primes).

[EDIT: Okay, it's relatively safe to use on bosses.]

Using that tactic, the only thing I'm really uncomfortable dealing with is Banshees. There, I mostly snipe with my Talon and hope someone brought a really big gun.

I respecced my Shadow to 6/3/6/6/5 since I like rolling with my Piranha and get a 191% cooldown vs 170% with a 6/4/6/5/5 build. I rarely use ES anyways as that doesn't fit my playstyle on the Shadow.

This thread and micah's build has been awesome in getting me to play, appreciate and enjoy the shadow - thankyou! I went SS (6) shield drain for extra survivability which has been great for learning to use this character on gold.

Despite lvl20 can't decide between ES 4 Electric Damage for tech bursts or just plain old Shadow Training 6 10% weapon damage to make boss killing easier (with guns) as boss killing seems to be the problem with this character (Brutes, Ravagers, Atlas, Banshee, etc). So to this point have gone without both!

What do people recommend? Rely on armour piercing ammo and a piranha with the 10% gun damage or can ES4 twice (possibly with disruptor ammo too) do a number on bosses?

I actually dropped the 4th rank of ES in favor of 6th rank weight reduction so that I can still take my Piranha X with a 191% cooldown before equipment since bosses are her weak point as you have noted.  I put a Shredder and Melee mod on my Piranha, and even through an Acolyte X with melee stunner and ULM mod as a shield stripper on bosses with no difference in cooldown.  Keeping cooldown high/fast was my priority.  If you plan to use your weapon more, perhaps weapon damage wouldn't hurt.

Good build, having a lot of fun with it. Just swapped rank 5 in the passive for shield/movement. I'm a sucker for the 10% speed boost.

Thanks for the build and strategy, I have been using your 64653 build and love it. I usually use ES alot which is why I haven't tried ur new build. I really wish for this class if the last evolution of fitness affected SS. Also have you tested out the N& slayer since its the other class with a Sword?

Question about gear.

It seems top recommendation is to use hydraulic joints V. But wouldn't mental focuser V or engineering kit V give higher damage bonus since they give bonus to both tactical cloak and shadow strike? Wouldn't combined tc and ss bonus give higher damage than melee bonus?

I thought that too, but I still do more damage with hydraulic joints V. For consumablesI take power amplifier modules though.

AFAIK Tac. Cloak is not affected by such bonuses at all.

Why you don't take fire sword evo? Cloaked heavy melee deals awfully many damage to armoured targets (about 5 bars of armor for gold brute not using consumables)
It also OHK silver pyro and left the gold one with 5-6 bars of armor. cloak->SS->melee combo is useful against bosses

Also NEVER use SS on ravager. He is glithcy and spreads acid even when he doesn't see you. If you have full shields before SS you'll have 0 after it

You should totally skip Tactical Cloak! Tactical Cloak is a huge mistake on the Shadow. Max out everything else.

I skip Tactical Cloak & always use my Shield Booster V.

What level are you playing on?  Without Cloak, you're not going to be killing as many targets on Gold in one TC > SS combo, especially if you're taking Shield Booster V instead of melee bonus gear.

Shadow without Tactical Cloak is viable on Bronze and Silver, as you still OneHitKill all ennemies with a complete damage build.
However, do the same on Gold & above and you'll probably get your a** kicked a lot.

Shadow is by far my favorite N7 class (I haven't unlocked the Paladin, yet, but I'm sure we all know how that comparison will end).

I'm still struggling on Gold, but will try to encorporate some of these tactics in order to step up my game. I also find that I enjoy my Claymore X more than the Pirhana III. Seems to have better range, but aiming and stick-and-move tactics become a priority. Not sure how to squeeze in the Bayonet, either, as I like the damage and choke mods on this bad boy.

So certain melee bonuses affect Shadow Strike but not others? I'm really getting tired of all these bugs and exceptions with powers. It's hard to keep track of them all.

6/3/6/6/5 here. Juggernaut shield 2, Strength Enhancer 2 (I have a few 3s but a lot of 2s so I use those more often then not). I specced SS and cloak for damage. Only time I die is if phantoms or guardians get bull**** precognition and attack me before I attack them or I **** up (target the wrong thing, stick my head out of cover too long etc).

For things that don't die in one hit like turrets and phantoms, a heavy melee will usually finish them off (you will be decloaked but unless there's a ton of other **** RIGHT there. you usually have time to get to cover.) Careful when you do it to phantoms as they typically cartwheel/cloak right after a SS. If you can track where they go, a single heavy melee (still cloaked) will relieve them of their heads (very satisfactorily I might add).

After this week operation i got myself some not-so-great stuff from the gift packs, so i decided to buy a Premium S. pack to see if i would get better luck. And indeed i did, N7 Shadow in the hizzle haha

So , i decided to give your build a try, and i most say, it´s great. I normally play bronze and silver, and although i think i have the skills to go higher, i don't have the bad-ass guns yet(Piranha, typhoon, saber, c.harrier,etc..), so i don´t want to be a burden to others on gold/platinum.

But with this build(and i´m still on level 18), i play consistently(and well) on silver, and when i get a useful gun, i´ll be up-ing my game to gold ;)

So, thanks my man.
