I feel bad for all the other civilians Shepard watched run onto the shuttle.

You spend the entire game dreaming about that one kid and then make that kid the image of the leader of the enemies

What about these poor guys? They died too :(

Image IPB

Honestly if I had nightmares about giant shadowy asses in the foreground with a hot girl in the background after sleeping with my girlfriend... I wouldn't be too bothered. But dreaming about little boys after ****ing Tali just seems wrong somehow. Especially considering I just risked her life by ****ing her.

Stupid kid, making my Shepard do weird things.

One of the shuttles was evacuating kittens.

BUT SHEPARD DIDN'T CARE.

well, to most mature people the death of a child is much more tragic then the death of an Adult.

I apologize for my immaturity :(

Next time I will only care for one of the victims when a large amount of people are murdered so I can be a better person.

My reaction was similar to that of TJ Lazer's "DAMNIT! Those ships cost a lot of money!"

One child or millions of men and women?

Damn, I must be immature.

The dreams make it incredibly difficult to replay the game.

Every time one comes up (and they always seem to take me by surprise somehow), I have to fight the urge to just quit right there.

I see. Apparantly one's maturity is determined by their opinion on which form of life is most valuable.

I wanted to replay the whole game to laugh at the kid when the Destroyer shoots the shuttle, but I couldn't when I realized there were other people onboard.

In their defense they really have no idea what will and will not connect with the audience until the audience has experienced the product. It's all about execution as opposed to concept.

In an alternate reality they butchered Mordin and did the nightmares perfectly. Someone is sitting there saying

"The Genophage make it incredibly difficult to replay the game.

The terribliness of the nightmares and Ventboy sound like something the product testers should have picked up on. And on a game the sheer size and scale of Mass Effect I have to assume there were several product testers giving constant feedback...

Which leads me to believe time constraints and the Catalyst at the end made it impossible to change

That chick in the screenshot is wearing that ugly-as-sin cowgirl get-up. My Shepard forgot about her just as quickly as he forgot there was a male variant in his wardrobe.

A person's subconscious has a way of truly f*****g you over mentally, physically or emotionally once
A person has seen horrific events-the best part, no control of it when they close their eyes, just hold on for the ride.
A child is considered "innocent" and tends to be more difficult to cope with because people relate to their own.
While adults are dismissed as, wrong place wrong time, they chose to be there etc

Oh, no. I think in this case the concept has legitimate flaws of its own. It was a bad idea to start with.

I just feels out of place to me. Mass Effect is all about connecting with the characters, and caring about their individual stories. Then they just throw this kid at us, and say we should feel sad. Thats a trick you see in a lot of FPSes, where you only have 2 - 3 hours of gameplay to connect with the characters. It really bothered me that Shepard flashed back to that kid, not even 12 hours after Mordin sacrificed his life (would be even worse if you chose to shoot Mordin).

Oh just stop it. I'm sure the first time you saw this scene you thought it was moving. You're letting your feelings about the Catalyst get in the way.

Sure, I felt bad for the kid (for future reference, do not run from people trying to help you, idiot), but not "haunted for the rest of my life" bad. Seeing Earth getting destroyed was also quite moving. Seeing all my friends die, was a little more moving.

Literally?

Yes things in the scene were moving. The spaceship I was standing in was moving quite considerably. We went all the way to Mars.

Emotionally? Not really. The fact we'd just been told fleets were destroyed and Earth was being obliterated seemed a tad more important. And the focus on the kid felt like foreshadowing something (which indeed it turned out to be) as opposed to anything of any real substance. If the kid was was supposed to represent the masses of Earth in one representation then he failed pretty miserably.

Then once the first nightmare scene came along I thought it was pretty darn terrible. Little did I know it was the first of three V_v

You're letting your feelings about the Catalyst get in the way.

The fact you most likely have no idea what my feelings on the Catalyst even are, I think you're projecting pretty hard here.

Maybe I love the Catalyst.

Maybe I'd rather have the Catalyst live than the kid.

But anyway no. I was sick of the kid once the nightmares started. Long before the Catalyst turned up.

You are going to feel bad for this random kid who is one of millions of casualties, and you are gonna like it!

I mean, losing Kaidan/Ashley to Sovereign's minions was bad, as was (potentially) losing ME2 squadmates to Reaper forces, but that's nothing compared to one kid that was killed that we got one quick conversation with.

Not really. It seemed like one of Micheal Bay's attempts to make a tear jerking, emotional scene.

Yeah while the paragons were probably crying their eyes out, I needed a renegade interrupt or option where Shepard suddenly turns away and shakes his/her head and mutters- "Should have let me help you, you stupid kid. Joker, get us out of here, this place is hopeless."
