well, to most mature people the death of a child is much more tragic then the death of an Adult.
I apologize for my immaturity
Next time I will only care for one of the victims when a large amount of people are murdered so I can be a better person.
I don't know about that, to me it depends on who they are.. I really think defenseless civilians in general makes for a good tragedy in general, in normal wars children are innocents who had nothing to do with the war since they had no say in it. However when it commes to the reapers it's more like a Tsunami or a similar natural dissaster.
If the adults are out there fighting a stupid war then it's slightly different but they were defenseless people.
A lot of parrents or grandparents might think their child is more important to them therefor the idea of children first since they are also more vulnerable and the future, the continuation of their parrents.
I know I was a little bit conflicted about that I-robot movie, there it wasn't even about choosing between two people, it was about choosing between someone who had lost conciousness with waterfilled lungs and likely woudln't survive the ascent to safety and survive long enough to recive first aid, or someone who was still concious and had a good chance to survive if helped but who wouldn't survive unless helped. The sensitive part here was that the likely already dead person was a little girl and the robot saved the man that seemed to have good survival odds(but not without the robots intervention).
Avoid two toombstones and get only one by saving who can be saved or save who likely can't be saved and hope for a miracle to only get one toombstone?
In most cases adults have an easier time to save themselves which is why children needs more help.
The Adult reaction would be to protect their children, it's in the genes since those who cared for their children had an easier time to have their genes passed on, therefor it becommes the most prevalent point of view, and also most accepted.
