Given that it is really hard to believe that anyone could intentionally write such a bad ending to a trilogy, I've come up with a new theory as to why the ending is so bad. We know the crew has to eat, right? Okay. We're in agreement there. James is the only one we've seen actually cook, so I'm guessing that he was being pestered to cook something for the crew.

See after Shepard and crew got back from killing Kai Leng and Co. at Cronos Station, James decided that the entire crew deserved one good meal before the final assault on London. Anderson was born in London, did you know? He figured that this could be their last meal so he decided to use his mama's recipe for her famous chicken enchiladas. Unfortunately there weren't all the ingredients on the ship, so he improvised. Mmmmm.... mmmm.... did they smell good. And he whipped up some rice and beans to go with them.

Unfortunately the chicken had been in the freezer a few months from when they should have tossed it, but beggars can't be choosy, right? Needless to say, Dr. Chakwas was busy for the next several days. Shepard had a couple helpings and was in med bay for two days, and there were lines outside the lavatories. The entire Normandy crew was sick with food poisoning except for Tali and Garrus who couldn't eat the stuff anyway, Liara who only ate the rice and had Asari mead, Javik who read the feel of "last meal" imprinted in the food and didn't eat, and EDI who doesn't eat anyway and was flying the ship for Joker who broke two ribs vomiting.

Bottom line is that the ending we saw occured in a food poisoning nightmare that Shepard had while in medbay. This is why it was different colors. This is why the red ending sometimes glitched green and back. So enter the BCE theory. :?

So we've seen the food poisoning nightmare. Now give us the real ending.

Valid theory... until Bioware denies it.

And it has fewer plot holes.

Why didn't James just order pizza? He's acts like he's from New York so he should have ordered space pizza.

You make questionable decisions when you're under the influence of bad Mexican food. So, seems legit.

I'm pretty sure he is...
He comments that he's pissed off that New York is crawling with husks and he had to leave Earth...

I wonder what the Mass Effect equivalent of Taco Bell is. I like how other games had fast food parallels (e.g. Cluckin' Bell, Burger Town).

You're 100% wrong, because the only true endgame interpretation is the 'Harbinger Is Made Of Chocolate Theory' or HIMOCT. Bonus points if you refer to it as the HIMOCT Theory.

Harby is just too delicious for anything else to make sense.

I know this is true because you simply cannot have both enchiladas and chocolate in the same game. Bioware has no history of doing this sort of thing, so it's impossible.

You'll see!

Now, I just need a banner.

Wrong: you make mole (pron: mo-lay) sauce. If you've ever had good mole sauce on chicken you won't ever have anything else. All other sauces pale in comparison. Try it some time. Chain restaurants do not have good mole as a rule.

Thank you, Shotgun.

I found a hole in your otherwise airtight theory - wouldn't Shepard have some immunity from Gardener's cooking? You know, Mr. Janitor-cook who washes his hands "most" of the time?
