 Hello,

I'm currently new to Neverwinter Nights and the online gameplay looks really good! There's so many servers and it's hard to choose which one.
I'm looking for a server which is roleplay based, not really bothered if it's populated but can easily form a party and can solo quests if needed to.

Any idea's which server can fulfil my needs?

Thanks. :)

ArgentumRegio is a good RP server. Your PC earns XP for RP (our scripts analyze your text and channel, and store the data until you log off, at which time the XP are tallied and that amount is awarded to your PC on your next visit. More, your PC earns XP for actions done IC'ly; greedy PCs get XP by looting, cowards by avoiding trouble, etc.. Much of this is automatic. Our game world is meant to be very like pnp D&D - allowing for swimming, climbing, jumping, flying. We have even added over 70 spells from the D&D game and are adding more all the time (so far we have spells such as Wish, Liveoak, Blink, Fly, Wall of Ice and many more).

More, the world features an excellent crafting system so your PCs can earn money by gathering ingredients even if the PC does not themselves do crafting, and those who do take up the making of magic items will find the system robust and capable.

Other features of the game world include Wild Magic/Dead Magic zones, Hidden Trails (usable by 'nature classes' such as Ranger, Barbarian, Druid, etc.), concealing items on creatures/objects, Detect Magic, Scrying, Rogue use of windows, Extortion, Grifting, and much more. TEN years in the making, fifteen man-years of work, our lead scripter is a Masters Degree programmer too (in large measure this is why the server is so stable).

The game world is large, allowing PC and DM plenty of "room to move" - the module features 1337+ Areas, is stable and lag free (on average the server crashes once a year [invariably my fault]).

The player base is growing, and we have a good number of loyal players and a goodly DM base too. Come read more about it at

http://playnwn.com

Links to our wiki and forum are found on those pages. We hope to see you online.

NOTE: The server requires ONE hak pack, that being the CEP version 2.1 or greater. If you need help finding/installing it, just send me a personal message and I'll get right back to you.

Be well. Game on.

For learning the RP ropes, I can recommend The Island of Thain (no links; sorry). The staff was active and supportive of the players, and many there are talented storytellers. And for the action crowd, some challenging areas and the occasional DM controlled monstrosity.

While not RP based, I can heartily recommend the World of Aenea.

http://www.amethyst-...m/nwn/index.php

 http://aenea.aforumfree.com/

It is an Action server, where one may solo or group depending on the crowd. But more then that, I would say that Aenea is the NWN1 vesion of Skyrim; simply one based more on the 3E and House rules.

For instance, one may choose from:

* a wider array of Races and classes. While Harper Scout is unavailable, several others are offered instead.

* a new Pantheon where accepting a patron diety comes with roles and bonuses.

* Cooking, Farming, Herbalism, Gemcutting, Runemaking are included Trade Skills; all are optional.

* While Resting and Eating are integrated, they are easily set aside as early as CC; simply add the correct Ioun stone to your collection and forget about it.

* Items and customization galore including 17 Hall of Fame inclusions from The Amethyst Dragon.

* Etc; more than I can desribe here.

While it is not RP based, there are several that utilize this style, and it is supported. My recommendation is to check out the info seen in the links provided, and if the game setting appears to be one like you would have liked in PnP, then give it a try.

There also Kingdom of James in the PW Story category. We're only a few years old but we've got lots of areas, quests, npcs and pcs for you to interact with. We are working right now to put together a new player base and slowly but surely we've been getting traction. If you're still looking for a server and want to give us a try we're a very friendly bunch so check us out.

I would say Thain or Arelith, as both are hak free and have a low learning curve for a new player. You may not end up staying there, but it's a good place to learn the game. Also...Some suggestions here are just personal promotions, be wary of that.
