Since Adrenaline Rush will instantly reload any weapon (provided you have spare ammo), the Soldier can turn the Claymore into a deadly two-shot weapon: Shoot > A-Rush > Shoot. And while you are under Adrenaline Rush, you can shoot again for extra weapon damage. The Soldier can wreak a lot of havoc with the Claymore.

The claymore is my favorite weapon in MP but I hate it in SP. The reload cancel works like a charm in MP but in SP the timing is a bit off(on the ps3).

I'm about to use the Particle Rifle. I'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions for fun weapons to use with him.
well that entirely depends on how you specced him/her. Did you go with quick cooldowns and constant power use (specifically with concussive shot) or did you go with "bring all of the heavy weapons and destroy all the shiz that the reapers have to offer" ?
If you went with the quick cooldown, try using the Mattock X with a secondary weapon of either a Carnfex X, an N7 Valiant X, or whatever shotgun suits you best. Make sure they're lightweight (as the weapons I just listed are) because you'll need that extra cooldown.
If you're heavy weapon dude, take the best weapons you have. The most fun I've ever had in mass effect is when I got to take the best weapons in without caring about cooldown. Take the Black Widow, Paladin, Saber or N7 Valkyrie, the N7 Hurricane and the claymore for all I care. You don't have to worry about weight, so go all out 3:D
it entirely depends on your playstyle, though. Go with something that you enjoy using and you can work with. Don't be afraid to experiment a little.

I think that is on every platform. While under Adrenaline Rush, everything around you is slower, including reloads. So it actually takes longer to reload the Claymore when under Adrenaline Rush.known_hero wrote...
Yah the Falcon is good. The Mattock is my fav though. I like the constant tapping

And another note to theillusiveman11: I see some people have mentioned the Saber and Falcon. These weapons are acquired late in the game (Sanctuary and Cerberus HQ), so are better suited to New Game+. I also see the Black Widow and Paladin mentioned, both available from the Spectre terminal. I believe that you can acquire both in one playthrough, but while you can get one fairly early (Paladin 3-4 missions into the game if you scan the galazy and save all your credits), you will only get the other one later in the game.
You can get the Claymore fairly early in the game (Missing Krogan Scouts, about 5 missions into the game), but it is terrible at level I (only 9 shots). Others have mentioned Scorpion (Sur'kesh) and Mattock (Grissom Academy), which you can get even earlier.

I've enjoyed beating inasnity with the Adept, Engineer, Vanguard and Infiltrator.
But if I go soldier, I'd like to completly ignore the cooldown system and carry the toughest hard hitting weapons and have inferno grenade as a bonus. Simply because in the past four playthroughs I made a big deal about cooldowns and want to try a different strategy.
Which massive hard hitting weapons would fit THE EXPENDIBLES approach?
I'm thinking of making Shepard look like Jason Statham (since he's the only Expendible who looks young enough to be Comander Shepard).

Thanks. I'll give that a try.
The only DLC weapon I have in single player is the Prothean Particle Rifle.
I loved using that rifle a lot. So that's a firm choice for soldier.
So I gues it's
Javelin (looks awesome) [widow and black widow just look too similiar to real life sniper rifles]
Prothean Particle Rifle
Tempest is my favourite of the ones I've got in the single player campaign
Claymore is awesome. If I'm packing many weapons, I won't be bothering with hybrid shotgun rifles like Geth Plasma and Graal (though those are amazing in their own right)
Paladin is an awesome name for a pistol. That reason alone is enough reason to choose the weapon.

Scorpion with cryo ammo. Watch them freeze then BOOM!
Agreed. The weapon is devastating and often one of the first you get. I did play through once and it wasn't there and I was heartbroken. I froze up and new I was died come the next Atlas.

The Paladin hits like a truck, so I don't think you will be disappointed by it. On the other hand, I do think you're missing out by not going with the M-99 Saber.
Is that DLC or is it a weapon I just missed (in four completed playthroughs might I add)

The Paladin pistol is available at the Spectre office (the cheapest of the three weapons).
The Saber is available extremely late in the game on Sanctuary, at the very end of the mission. Skip to 8:44 of this video by capn233 to see how to get it.
