So, a Quad-Processor should get his bum worked out by this game?

Or wont?

Well, there are few games out there that actually asks for a Core 2/X2 or higher. From what I understand, the game was specifically optimized for these kinds of processors. I believe there was an article by Nvidia some time before the game was released that stated this specifically, and ultimately the Core2/X2 requirement was what was printed on the box. Unfortunately, this means that Bioware is not obligated to "fix" this problem, though I do hope that there will be some kind of fix for you folks out there so that you may enjoy the game.

It is really difficult to gauge how demanding this game really is compared to other games. You have different AI, those dragons you see in the game seem to have a lot of parts moving at once which ultimately adds to the workload on your processor, there's a lot of calculations going on in the huge battles as well as a lot of blood spray. Its a whole different ballgame compared to games like Crysis. They might "look" better, depending on how you look at it, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Still, I understand that frustration, and hope that someone out there can crack the issue, streamlining the game a little.

Definitely be better than the Pentium 4, for sure.

Will bring you above minimum specs (tho that hasn't helped me with dual core 3.8ghz)

As for the quad being worked; reading some other posts you get different replies.

I saw one reply that stated that only 1 or two core were being used on their quad core cpu.

Mingwolf, I agree that the game is complex 'under the hood' and appreciate that it is. Makes for a better game.

The fact remains that, I, and many others are well above spec with this game on lean, mean gaming machines and are still having issues.

That IS a problem for Bioware to look into.

I have TWO P4 processors.

Its not as "fast" as Core2Duo or i-series, but still.. didnt think, that some dice rolling will be more a workout than the graphics-engine ^^

There's still differences with L2 cache's and such, between the P4 and Duals, though Sarevok.

And as Mingwolf said, it's very probable that the game is optimized for Dual and higher types of processors.

If it were just down to processing power, then I'm sure that two P4's would be fine,

Alas, I'm having probs of my own on a decent machine, so I feel your pain. . .

Yeah if your indeed above spec, then forget what I said, for the Devs probably should look into it. The P4, even having two of them, I'm not sure how to argue for, but if your running a machine that is positively above the requirements, then yes  Keep voicing it out until its heard.

this game is very CPU intensive. I think Crysis is the same way... have to have a hefty cpu to keep up with it ... well until they released that patch that smoothed things out.

It sucks so many people are having issues, myself included.

My system is in my sig. I do not have any issues with lag and such... just game corruption which stops me from moving forward in it.

Than you have that nasty amd based loading issue.... boo!

On a Q8200 Core2Quad (2.33) at the moment. It is very cpu intensive. My video card is a lower-end Radeon and surprisingly I can turn my sliders all the way up.

same thing happens to me when I am attacked by a big mob. There is a big delay between an attack and the effect, it's actually pretty weird, since a creature will stand and take 10 hits before the first one even registers. Though, once a few on the enemies die out the combat returns to normal.

it might have something to do with mods you have installed, I know that the "no helmet mod" caused me a few problems as it took a while for my characters to realize that there was a combat going on and didn't draw their weapons for several seconds.

Nope no mod-connection.

My first mod was completely mod-free with 1.1a patch.

It always appeared under 2 circumstances:

-Many models in combat(incl. yours at least 8)

-you are "under clear sky"

To be honest if anything this game doesn't really take enough advantage of a true gaming rig. In some ways it's kind of disappointing.

Yeah I get the same problem. I suffer from the 'memory leak', degrading load times and poor performance, and sometimes when the fps has dropped in combat I get this combat lag, the animation of hitting only produces the damage counter about 5 seconds after.. very odd o.O
EDIT: No mods and a rig that should be more than capable of keeping this game at a constant 30+fps.

Okay First of all i wanna say that Gorath is A major DOUCH! Because the combat lag isnt about the freaking System specs. Its about the Majorly Faulty Sound that bioware has put into the game. Disable the sound a wolla the game runs nice again. So stop saying that people have too bad pc when thats not the problem. and the combat lag issue is also only on Onboard sound chips not on extarnal. but iv yet to come not been able to fix the issue without disabeling the sound.

You should not have expected any better. Any time you see such a foolish and juvenile flame attempt such as that comment included, you should discount anything else from such a writer.

Hey I'm having this same problem too and my computer runs the game pretty well. Any updates on this issue?

And I think I know what Gorath is going to say. "Get better hardware!" or "Lag is an internet thing" or some other useless blurb.

I have this problem too, here`s my dxdiag and others should post it as well, to see if someone notices a pattern to see whether it`s related to our systems or whether it`s a game thing (i`d say there must be some incompatibility issue between the game and our hardware)

LE: Disabling the sound seemed to make my game play so fast, it`s like
i`m playing on 50+FPS, when i`m actually rolling only 25FPS, playing
with high settings, no anti aliasing, no vsync, and with frame buffers
effects on.
Thanks to RazerPwn for the tip.

Well, Gorath, you DID act as a douche (I`m not saying that you are one, because i don`t like insulting people who didn`t do anything to me, but you DID act as one even from a third party's point of view); hat`s off to MingWolf which actually tried to help instead of being smartass and telling people off, especially when you`re not even right. Sure, that guy needed a better system, that`s true, but I just proved to you that this problem can occur on decent systems as well.

People who buy laptops should be particularly conscious of odd-named graphics:

www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5145.24581.0.html

It's not an HD 5n00, but rather only an HD 4500, which is slightly better than your HD 4350, but not much, so all of your tweaks are needed to use it.  The CPU, incidentally (I had missed that six months ago), is a so-called "Pentium Duial" cheapened version of a Core, with almost all of the cache gutted out to lower its cost and its performance.

It is well below the minimum named in the requirements.
