Hi all--
Backstory: I've played and solved BG about 4 times, and gotten quite far another 1 or 2. I'm in the mood to play again, but would like to change things up a bit to make it somewhat newer and interesting. One thing I've done is use a clever trick to bring the characters from Obe's training session in the cellar when you first start out at Candlekeep. (Basically, wait until you've done everything else before going down to the cellar. During the fight-- which you ignore since they don't really do any damage-- you remove one of the characters from your party. After he talks to you and tells you off, you go tell Obe that you're done. He tells you that you won't be able to come back, and then you have about a half second before you're teleported out. Pause it, and then click on the guy you just kicked out to talk to him. If you time it right (it takes a few tries, often), when you're teleported outside, the guy will ask if you want him to join your party. Say yes, then quickly go to Gorion and watch the cut-scene. Afterwards, you'll find that the character in question has joined you. (And if you want, before you go to Gorion click on the character who has joined you-- he's still in the cellar at this point-- and have him go around to recruit others. Again, when the cut-scene is over, they'll all have joined you.)
ANYHOW-- the problem with these characters is that their sounds are limited to just one or two, and they're quite annoying. For instance, Canderous (a good LG cleric) ONLY says "Hey, ya!" like Noober from Nashkel. After awhile, that gets annoying, so what I wanted to do was basically take one of the established voices-- perhaps from one of the characters I generally haven't had join my team in the past. For instance, Arkanis is a guy in the cellar who is a powerful Dwarven fighter but NG instead of LE like Kagain. But all Arkanis says is that line about needing some "strong, Dwaaaarven ale." I would love to just switch so that Arkanis has Kagain's sounds.
Unfortunately, I can't find where either Kagain or Arkinis is to find their sounds and switch them out. (Note: You can't just customize like you can on your own PC.) I'm using Vista, and I know that Vista sometimes "hides" files that it doesn't want you to mess with, but thus far I haven't found where they might be.
Does anyone have any solutions for this?

The hidden files issue occurs only when you install into the default Program Files location under Vista / Windows 7. To avoid this install to somewhere like c:\\games\\BG. If you want to find your files without reinstalling have a look at this thread:
