Been having the same problem in ME2 and ME3. Start up is either normal or kind of scratchy or patchy sound. While in game there is sudden lag every 5-10minutes and takes about 60seconds to resovle itself. Have not downloaded the new endings and never had the problem before. I downloaded all the latest video and sound drivers, deactivated origin in game and reduced all graphics settings to the minimum. I am only running a pc just above the minimum requirements but that was not a problem before.

I don't have a great internet connection at the moment so I can't download the extended cut right now.

That seems to be your issue, when you initially load the game it attempts to connect to the EA servers. If you have a slow internet connection it may take a while to make that connection to the servers. Your computer may be reacting in kind, do a CTRL+ALT+DEL and open Task Manager click on the Performance tab and see your memory and CPU useage once you get the game started. If you have high % in these areas it is your problem ontop of the connection. Check your Networking tab as well to see where it stands during this period. It will give you an idea of the traffic. Thanks. I had a look and I have a high CPU usage and starting the game without an internet connection helped but the problem still came up. Any way to fix it?
