A lot of builds/weapons are already subpar on gold, it just is a little more so on platinum.

If all you care about is winning as fast and as easy as possible, you can do the same on gold... However, we rarely see all GI teams, so your statements are invalid...

Not true and Krogan Sentinel is/was very good.  Platinum is much different than gold and much less fun.

I love my melee specced Krosent, but calling him good against the stunlock masters is delusional... Cerberus or reapers now, that's different, but spending half a match incapacitated by stunlock is neither fun nor efficient. Neither is spending the whole game camping in the same spot, grabbing hunters/pyros by the neck...

Wanna know a trick with krogans and batarians? Try to be in the middle of an animation like a melee or ballistic blades when you get hit with prime/hunter/rocket (if you can see it coming of course) and it will damage you but not stun you. I use ballistic blades on my batarian to avoid stunlocks all the time.

It's not foolproof by any means, but it sure helps.

I didn't know that trick. Of course, if I see it coming, I usually just scram for cover! It might help a bit out in the open, but still, it doesn't solve the problem at all... If that prime hits you once, you eat all shots, if a hunter shoots you, you're almost done, and you can't even stagger it to prevent it! I'll be sure to try it though!

We have new characters in the DLCs . Why not new enemies as well. Platinum would have been the perfect time to do this. It would have been a lot more interesting and enjoyable than just throwing more of the same at us

Platinum beated with two human soldiers without frag grenades and only using a Avenger X.

Why I don´t see the weapon limitation here?

What the OP is describing is kind of the situation that games like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls have had: Once players realize that there are a small number of super-optimized builds, everybody kind of feels the need to work within these narrow confines.

That's a problem with Demon's/Dark Souls because you can get invaded at any time by another player; you have NO CHOICE but to engage in PVP, and you have no say in how difficult it is. That is NOT a problem with ME3 multiplayer, however: Not only is it cooperative, but you have THREE other difficulty levels to choose from.

Gold didn't go anywhere. Platinum is only there for a special segment of the ME3 multiplayer population that wants it. I don't much like playing Platinum either, but its existence doesn't hurt us. I'm not sure I see what emailing BioWare to complain would accomplish.

You can beat Platinum with any class/Race/Weapon. It all comes down to player skill, using better weapons just allows you to be lazy.

Bring on the deathmatch, forget about teamwork etc. Instead of playing against the game, I'd like to play against other people.

EDIT :

To be honest, I don't understand at all what you are all complaining about. People found gold too easy (which I can agree with) so Bioware mad a harder difficulty (for free!!!). What did you expect them to do besides upping enemy health/shields/damage, as well as the number of bosses? That's exactly what's changing frome bronze to silver to gold, isn't it? Not just that, but they did actually change more than that, and mixed up enemy factions, which makes platinum a lot more different and exciting! Could they have changed more? Possibly, but I think they did a pretty good job.

A few platinum facts, as well ;)

Platinum can be beaten by roaming the map, just because you can't doesn't mean that it can't be done
All characters (and weapons) are viable, some are better than others, but such was always the case...
You can solo platinum
You can farm platinum
As of yet, I find that pugging platinum is very hard, this might change in the future, as people hone their skills
Platinum is harder than gold, by a wide margin, which is what everyone wanted, isn't it?

I agree

Hone your skills. First of all there were builds and things you could do in bronze/silver that many said you can't do in Gold, and then others got better and those builds/playstyles would use also in Gold but with a little more skill and less recklessness. I remember threads about how you have to stick to cover in Gold and can't go all ramboing like you do in Bronze/Silver. I remember threads against melee characters in Gold and now people saying its viable. Just take more skill it seems.

In games, harder, for the most part, means more health and hit harder. Gold meant to camp until people got better. I played games where I camped in Plat and I played games where I roamed the map and we just obliterated everything. First of all, all the characters don't deal equal ammounts of damage, so you can't expect to play the same with any character/team builds. The simple fact is, the harder a game mode/boss/dungeon/mission whatever gets means less viable ways to accomplish said goals. You see this in nearly every and any game you play. It seems foolish to still wanna play like its gold, just as much as we complain when silver players come into gold and try to play as if its silver. You can only do that if your bronze/silver playstyle is gold viable and the same for platinum, your gold playstyle have to be platinum viable to take to platinum.

I am not sure if it's funny or sad how the supposedly "skilled" players who apparently "beat platinum with 2 Avengers" and claim that I just suck all play on Xbox.

Platinum became a mistake once the community discovered methods to overome hostiles using the limitations of the AI and map. It then becomes another farming difficulty level for credits.

My problem with alot of games now a days is there "harder difficulty" is nothing short of a damage and health buff to enemies nothing else. One of my favorite games of all time Metro 2033 perfected difficulty in shooters in my opinion when they release Ranger Hardcore mode. Which took the hardest difficulty in the game and expanded apon it by reducing the amount of ammo you found even more and making you easier to kill, but as all double edged swords enemies also suffered from a health nerf. Which evened the playing field and made for quick very intense engagements with enemies. Which is another primary example of why I dislike games such as Gears of War where difficulty just means you go from God mode killing machine to super weak insta death from anything with a marshmellow shooter

The problem is it's just boss mobs over and over again

The player made mod was waaaaaay more fun because you had a large amount of weaker enemies to kill along with the big ones, it made things very chaotic

There's just not enough units in platinum

As someone else said, they just took the easy way out when making it

I'd be happy if they just put in some new modes / enemies though, not just a new objective (which I do like, it's just not enough)

You are missing the whole point. Nobody said you suck. Just trying to say that platinum is not limited to few weapons only.

It is actually all about how you play. The better the weapon, the quicker the time.

If your not using the "high damage" weapons, the match might take 116 minutes with 2 players.

But hey, it was fun. :alien:

If it would just make enemies stronger, that would be super lame. I like the fact that it gives something new, instead of giving enemies more HP and DPS.

Platinum was a good idea, because now all of the missile glitchers are on Platinum and not gold.

Technically, replacing trash mobs by bosses is just giving enemies more HP and DPS.

More enemies at the same time would be nice. Like 16 instead of 8 right now. It would make small maps even more hectic, and spawn control a must. But I'm not sure Xbox and PS3 could handle it.

I actually expected platinum to have mixed waves, but instead of throwing a ton of Boss units at people I expected more missions during the waves (more as in 5 or 6 and not usual 3), and I also expected new features (new enemy types, differnece between headshot and bodyshot increased or crititcal spots on Boss unit's backs or something). Something that would add variety and more challenge.

I believe that increasing the number of missions would actually make the difficulty easier. Whenever I play Gold, the mission waves are the fastest (especially if it's pizza delivery/kill targets) out there, while a normal wave can last anywhere from 3 minutes+, the mission waves can be over in 2 minutes.

They mix the factions now and that's a new thing. I think it is ok. And I don't know if they had  that much more HP than on Gold. Didn't even notice. :o

The only way we can make Bioware change something is if we stop using it altogether. Coz all they look for are statistics. If everyone just stops playing Platinum they'll start to realise how badly they frakked up.
