Oh we got Platinum alright and yeah its tough. But what we didn't ask for is for Bioware to consistently destroy our favorite and most fun weapons one by one.

coming from somebody who just started playing Gold on a regular basis last month, I see platinum as two different things: one is a reason for me to step my game and become a greater player with other(hopefully) high class characters or the second which is a part of a game that I just know I don't have to skill for and won't do it, either way its our decision. No one is making us play platinum so why complain about it. I stayed away from Gold until I got better playing (and better weapons). Play the game the way you want to play it, because if they make a Omega Mode with 30 Banshees, 22 Phantoms, 12 Atlas's, 25 Geth Primes and 1 Engineer coming at your team at once I promise you I will never play it, but I will still play the game on the settings I like.

Not true and Krogan Sentinel is/was very good.  Platinum is much different than gold and much less fun.


I love my melee specced Krosent, but calling him good against the stunlock masters is delusional... Cerberus or reapers now, that's different, but spending half a match incapacitated by stunlock is neither fun nor efficient. Neither is spending the whole game camping in the same spot, grabbing hunters/pyros by the neck...

EDIT :

To be honest, I don't understand at all what you are all complaining about. People found gold too easy (which I can agree with) so Bioware mad a harder difficulty (for free!!!). What did you expect them to do besides upping enemy health/shields/damage, as well as the number of bosses? That's exactly what's changing frome bronze to silver to gold, isn't it? Not just that, but they did actually change more than that, and mixed up enemy factions, which makes platinum a lot more different and exciting! Could they have changed more? Possibly, but I think they did a pretty good job.

A few platinum facts, as well ;)

Platinum can be beaten by roaming the map, just because you can't doesn't mean that it can't be done
All characters (and weapons) are viable, some are better than others, but such was always the case...
You can solo platinum
You can farm platinum
As of yet, I find that pugging platinum is very hard, this might change in the future, as people hone their skills
Platinum is harder than gold, by a wide margin, which is what everyone wanted, isn't it?


I HAVE TO AGREE TOTALLY WITH THIS POST.

Another things are those classes, well OP should see RedJohn and others how they are soloing Platinum with N7Shadow f.e. Gold was easy and this is the new thing. Use consumables, do not play as a moron, and game also rewards you. 

More objective idea is interesting, but problem is, taht some objective missions makes game very easy, Could be the platinum better? Maybe, as everything, but it is for free, it is what players wanted. It has not to be easy and fun to play... it should be hard and that is it. If you wanna easy time, play bronze, silver, gold... But no, you also wanna more credits right? ;-) And I think this is the problem... If you would play game for FUN, you would simple lower difficulty as one of my friends does, but you are greedy for credits.

I like mixed factions, but plat was just rushed :(

I think i'd rather play a plat where there are banshees every round and it's only reaper.

If anyone played platinum mod they would have known this was how it would be.
Assuming all he changed was the spawns. I don't know if they changed anything else, I watched the video, it looked quite boring.

It IS boring. That's the issue. I hope they would add more variety, make it fun, but in reality they simply made a grindy difficulty level that essentially just require everyone to have lvlX weapons, and is not remotely interesting.

Nonsense... x weapons are far from enough there... I really think you have no guts for this kind of difficulty and probably wipe in first two waves... And that is why you say it is boring...

80% pick-up rate (you know what I mean)
Annoying team revive circle especially against geth turrets
Demand high DPS even when not camping just adds no variety.

Better would be objective rounds every even wave number.

Have enemies per wave as Cerberus or geth or reapers or mixed.  This would have the effect of characters that need to be generalists, or specialists and have other team members specialise in a different faction (maybe).  And if nothing else more differences between each platinum game:  stories of "we got five escort missions vs geth!" or "eleven waves of reapers! :o".

Lower credits so gold is more efficient as credits/hour.  This means you could also lower the overall difficulty (ie: less boss spam, more low/mid units).  Make it rewarding, but more about fun.  The difficulty would be from the unpredictability and need to be good against all factions (no stacking the team builds vs one faction like gold).

If the game is becoming stale due to over familiarity, make platinum the really random mode where you can't guess the next 30 mins.  Sadly current-platinum is very predictable - fight boss after boss after boss...

Just IMO.

I personally enjoy platinum mode quite a lot, thank you. I've played every possible map available on said mode and although I do have the occasional failure (Both with PUGs and private parties), I won't let that stop me from enjoying this game.

I hate camping out in the same area for too long, so I run around a lot. I don't necessarily need to be revived a ton - But honestly? That revival mechnic was added into the game with a reason. Why bother trying to evade said mechanic? It means you're not using a certain percentage of the game, a game for which YOU paid a license to play.

and why not? there are godly players who can solo that. and there are people who cannot even play in four people plat/gold. Variety is welcomed,

Truth, OP. Cold hard truth. I'll add onto it with this as well.

A lot of players focus way way WAY too much on high DPS builds and weapons. There are support roles that are often not covered, such as a Demolisher dropping shields for their teammates with Arc 'Nades or even stagger-spamming with a Falcon (Keeping a high-dps weapon for medium to close quarters fights.), or even duration Infiltrators going after objectives. This takes away from your group's ability to deal with situations as a cohesive unit.

Personally, I like having 3 people on escort missions, and 1 person draws fire and kills grunts if they get too close to the carrier/drone. I also like playing a CryoMolisher to Falcon-spam everything to death. That allows my teammates to get headshots easier, and makes certain enemies sitting ducks.

Rule #1 of platinum: DPS is secondary. Utility is key. And 4 players moving together is as scary as Betty White on the cover of Playboy.

What this game needed more then anything was a limited editor that allowed tweaking of certain parameters like enemy HP, types that spawn, etc.. like you know a huge majority of coop games actually have. So the guy that wants a zillion weaker enemies could have that and the guy that wants fewer bosses could have that, or we could have mixed waves but not have them be ALL bosses. I happen to like the mixed wave concept for instance, but not how it's implemented in Platinum. I have no option though to say play mixed waves with a roughly gold like enemy composition.

That would of course be rather more work then the current Bioware would ever want to do and they'd have to work out a system that determined credit and exp gain based on some average of those settings or which would again be work... So instead we get canned settings that can't be tweaked in the slightest and the resulting fights over how they're implmented.

Is hard gameplay really equals fun? I'd like BW to make funny AI behaviour instead.

I sometimes find Nemesis funny (and irritating) as her sole purpose in the game seems to be to hide from anyone who tries to get near her. Characters such as Prime, Banshee, Brute and Atlas are not funny at all as they're just oversized destroyers w/o personality.

If they upped AI for Platinum Difficulty, it would've been alright. Cerberus or Reapers planting their shield/barrier generators would've been a great thing for a new difficulty mode.

Platinum is harder, that is true, but it's not harder in regards to enemy behavior.
