WoW is crap for 5 yo. If you like this game you will not be happy with WoW. Its not even alike.

I like this game.
I am happy with WoW.
I am 23, not 5.
I play in a guild in which almost everyone is 18+.

You should probably stop generalizing.

So I am generalizing when I say WoW is not only available but tuned for children too? I am generalizing if I say I knew 7 yo playing WoW and finding it smooth and easy? I am generalizing if I say that overall graphics and design in WoW is more appropriate to someone who loves shiny baubles than someone who likes reality?

It is good for you that you are happy with WoW. I can be happy playing with Barbie dolls too, what doesnt change the fact they are made for 5 yo as well.

1.  The vast majority of players are older than 5, 7, 11, 13, or any other low number you can think of.  Indeed, I'd say that the vast majority (95%) are over 15.  I play in a guild that consists almost entirely of people in the 18-30 range.

2.  Despite that, a very, very small percentage of the population is capable of attaining high PvP ratings or completing hard-mode PvE content.  Clearly, this content is not tuned for children.

3.  Are you really trying to claim that any game with cartoonish graphics is designed for 5-yeard-old kids?  Really?!

My point was simply that there's a huge population of players that enjoy both WoW and other RPGs, such as DA:O.  The idea that liking DA:O means you won't like WoW is an absurd one with absolutely no foundation.

Cybercat, please remind yourself that we are all on a videogame forum.

And just as much as you like one, someone may like another.

Anyway, I would call WoW easily accessable to many age groups. But I wouldn't say that was a bad thing. I've had my little nephews make their own chars on my account just to mess around(parental controls kthx) And they enjoyed it. But they didn't grasp the concept of the game past killing bears in the forest to level up. And hopefully even you would admit that there's more to the game than that.

I don't know what my point is anymore...

People have different opinions. And while you can call WoW a game geared at 5 year olds... There are millions more older-than-five-year-olds playing *that*, than most games -in general.

Don't be hatin'

Damn right I do. I'm just in desperate of a Fantasy game that doesn't end until you want it to. Problem with WoW is it never ends even when you want it to.

Check out DDO, free and has a solid game play. Plus you can add to it what you want to add to it.

Or, pick up the Gothic universe set. It's cheap and will probably keep you happy and busy for awhile.

I don't remember any elves or dwarves, but plenty of orcs.

I liked WoW when level 60 was the cap still, somehow it didn't seem so immature back then and raiding was THE serious business besides PvP (did a LOT of that, lol) but you could manage instances just fine with what seemed to be pretty outstanding gear. And it was tougher.

Then the first expansion came out and people started oogleing the stats on the armor and stuff and pretty much anything ya worked hard for got left in your bank in favor of new greens that had uber stats, lol. Pretty much changed things beginning with the very first expansion.

After a while you just get tired of doing the same ol thing, (even with so much to do it does get boring.) and that moment reminds you that it's time to ditch the WoW for a month or two and hopefully find games like DA:O sitting on the shelves waiting to be picked up. I personally got rid of WoW in favor of single-players cause I got tired of the other people.

Yes I agree, I'm very impressed at the guild websites those 5 year olds make, or how they lead 25 people every day, how they design hierarchies of authorities that demand dicipline and keeping your word within guilds. How they write pages of custom tactics for their guild members. How they pay for professional teamspeak or ventrillo hosts. Yes. You're so right.

don't do it! although I'm thinking of going back. This game is fun, but after 3 playthrus I've exhausted most dialogue and story options. there is little left to do in this game. It was fun while it lasted.

Don't go there! It's addicting, and when you stop you wonder _why_ it's addictive.

I already see drama in my old WoW guild over who will get the legendary from the new raid instance. Drama, quits, I want it, no I want it, no I deserve it more, no I do!!

I'm kind of happy I don't have to deal with that anymore. Alistair does not whine when I take a sword that he can use too. Hell, he'll polish it for me and kiss my feet! :)

Obviously we should just give it to the Mage GM so that all the 2H weapon users are treated equally.  ;)

The GM is a woman so that helps, she'd never do that :)

Most people were really really nice in a way, the friends is what kept me playing. But for some reason orange pixels brings up the worst in people :)

But I'm very amazed by the likability of the chars in DA:O, I never expected to get this immersed!

Remember that there's tons of other fantasy MMOs out there besides World of Warcraft, too. It always makes me blink a few times seeing WoW talked about like it's the 'only' thing out there. It's certainly the most popular fantasy MMO, and probably the easiest, but is it the best? I think that depends on the best for 'who' thing.

Lord of the Rings Online and Everquest II are both doing rather well, although like all MMO's these days, they're lonely journeys till you get up to the level everyone else is at. Both have very detailed lore backgrounds. Dungeons and Dragons Online has come a surprisingly long way since it came out: I don't think it's as good for the lore as WoW/LOTRO/EQII (and the original EQ, but I have a hard time recommending that to someone), but it has an advantage of being free to play (well, till eleven or so, anyway, but with twenty levels that's not bad). Warhammer and Age of Conan sort of slipped in the standings, but they're still fun if you take them at face value. Dark Age of Cam and Vanguard have tons and tons of faults, but background lore and information is very much not one of them.

I've played WoW since beginning of 2005 and I've only semi-quit now (thanks to WoTLK being garbage). Don't play WoW, it will ruin your life.

diablo ii is also a hard habit to break. hell baal runs are always fun.

but i tend to play single player d2 about 99% of the time. vanilla d2 is already boring; i played two excellent mods, however, that extended gameplay. and since i play single player, all the wonderful loot all to myself. :D

it's always the wonderful drops that keep you attached to d2.

I didnt say everyone who plays it is 5 yo; I said its made for 5 yo level.

Its a junk game, just like McDonalds is a junk food.

Geez, WoW fanboys. Yicky.

I have to agree. WoW is... it's own thing. It's less a game and more a way of life... and a pretty retarded one, at that. LOL I would sooner fess up to playing D&D long after I was out of highschool (which I did) than I would to ever having a World of Warcraft account(I played for 2 months). It's just a really bad, barebones game that forces you to do the same sh*t over and over again... but with your friends,  + a million mealy-mouthed jacka55es!! Which is fun for some people I guess but I'd rather not have chatroom spam in the middle of my games...

World of Warcraft is way too boring and way too long and too childish looking, please, play more of Dragon Age: Origins instead of playing that old World of Warcraft.

I quit WoW about 1.5 years ago. Sometimes I would get this feeling back of wanting to play WoW again, so I would install the game, and pay for another month, I would play a total of 5 hours in a one week and quit again, I did this about 4 times in the last 1.5 years. It has been 6 months since I did that last, and I doubt I will ever have that feeling ever again to play WoW, took me 4 times to learn that lesson.

I'm not sure what happened. I played that game exclusively for 2.5 years, and then one day just decided to quit for no reason.

meh, diablo2 is just so ridiculously easy once you know the mechanics of the game that i lose interest trying to play it now.

i mean if you know how to set up a sorc or a paladin with max block and high resists baal runs turn into just standing there and owning everything without any fear of ever dying because they either cant hit you or do almost no damage if its a spell attack. it just gets boring owning everything with absolutly no effort involved.

as far as WoW goes you would have to pay me to play the current incarnation of that game.

they have made it so easy that the game is full of bads in top end epic gear because all it takes anymore is having massive time to play, you dont actually have to be any good. as long as you have massive hours to invest you get leet purples, even if you suck at playing the game.

since children have the most time to invest in games they end up being the best geared and its turned the game into this breeding ground for no-life losers and leet-kiddies.

i used to love wow back when it was actually hard and the bads never got that far because they just sucked too much to get the good epics no matter how much time they put in, but they changed all that now and its the opposite. now its just the more time you put in because everything is so easy anyone can beat it.

youd have to pay me to play the current version of wow.
