WoW is just pretty much whatever you want it to be. If you want to take it casual and only play a few hours a week, you can. If you want to take it more serious and push harder, you can.
For all those who say the game is easy I wonder what level they play the game at.

diablo ii is also a hard habit to break. hell baal runs are always fun.
but i tend to play single player d2 about 99% of the time. vanilla d2 is already boring; i played two excellent mods, however, that extended gameplay. and since i play single player, all the wonderful loot all to myself.
it's always the wonderful drops that keep you attached to d2.
meh, diablo2 is just so ridiculously easy once you know the mechanics of the game that i lose interest trying to play it now.
i mean if you know how to set up a sorc or a paladin with max block and high resists baal runs turn into just standing there and owning everything without any fear of ever dying because they either cant hit you or do almost no damage if its a spell attack. it just gets boring owning everything with absolutly no effort involved.
as far as WoW goes you would have to pay me to play the current incarnation of that game.
they have made it so easy that the game is full of bads in top end epic gear because all it takes anymore is having massive time to play, you dont actually have to be any good. as long as you have massive hours to invest you get leet purples, even if you suck at playing the game.
since children have the most time to invest in games they end up being the best geared and its turned the game into this breeding ground for no-life losers and leet-kiddies.
i used to love wow back when it was actually hard and the bads never got that far because they just sucked too much to get the good epics no matter how much time they put in, but they changed all that now and its the opposite. now its just the more time you put in because everything is so easy anyone can beat it.
youd have to pay me to play the current version of wow.
re d2, that's why i said i played mods after completing hell diff thru various builds. (don't know if i'm allowed to mention those mods.) anyways, those mods raise the difficulty of the game significantly vis-a-vis vanilla d2. to compensate, they added new uniques, new runewords, new set items, etc. sweet! and did i mention that they altered skills? my necro can summon 3 golems, aside from a hireling and a horde of skeleton warriors, among other things.

In RPG games I like the progression of getting new cooler looking armor and/or spells and whatever and tbh in WoW all spells and equipment looks lame
I would know because my brother has been playing WoW for several years so I see it all the time
I played EQOA & FFXI myself personally and am waiting for FFXIV

Damn right I do. I'm just in desperate of a Fantasy game that doesn't end until you want it to. Problem with WoW is it never ends even when you want it to.
Try Mount&Blade. Tons of mods for the game. I believe there's a free version of it: http://www.taleworlds.com/

Half your nifty abilities will be obsolete in either PvE or PvP or BOTH.
Fights exclusively evolve around "rotations" or "prioritylists" of abilities, which basically means you'll be pressing the same 3-4 buttons throughout your entire career.
The community is worse than horrible these days, you're more or less told to shut up all the time unless you only have the best of equipment (called "Best In Slot" or BiS) and visit the latest places that were added.
Well, there are some who don't tell you to shut up all the time. There are some who like talking, as long as you buy gold from them (which is an epic fail, since gold is extremely easy to get anyway).

I played before WoTKL, had 2 raiding 70ies, I was GM and raid leader. My (small and 25+) guild finished ZA last thing before I got totally sick of that game.
And yes, I say the game is easy. You dont have to use much brains to play it or have some decent hand-eye coordination. That is why millions play it imo, it is not as half as frustrating and demanding as some other games.

This.
Instead of making the game more complex and more interesting when you get to higher levels, they just made it more simple and tediously boring.

So no Mt Hyjal, Black Temple or Sunwell?
Do any arena?

Seriously, I don't get it. The Lore is completely different. This just rekindled my dying addiction to fantasy...I've been trying to stave off a WoW addiction, so I never started it..(i actually bought the whole game + Wotlk twice, but sold it twice for like 50bucsk cheaper).
It's just an urge. After you log in, 15 minutes later you'll just be thinking, "Well, this game sucks as bad as it did when I closed my subscription", then you'll just log out and not want to play it again for several months. If you're an elder user and your account hasn't been active for a while, you probably have 7 free days ready to be activated on your account.
I had this urge too. Badly. I wanted to play WoW so badly, so I took advantage of my 7 free days, and I've probably logged in twice, and haven't even left Dalaran because I'm already bored from the time I log in.
MMORPG's for the most part aren't sophisticated enough for me. "Head to the northwest and kill 12 of the ghostly whelps that haunt the area and report back to me for your reward." just doesn't do it for me.

The line between "casual" and "hardcore" has become very thin but it's still there. Regarding raids though, being "hardcore" means more about spending a lot of time with the game and the game's mechanic (theorycrafting) rather than quick reflexes. But still, endgame-raids and arena aren't as "easy" as people often say.
Also smashing alliance heads and progressing through content with my friends is what makes WoW fun to me.

Oh, whatever. Do you know what my Mage did in vanilla raiding? He spammed one of four spells, depending on the encounter. Frostbolt for single-target bosses, Blizzard for AoE, Remove Lesser Curse for any fight with a curse (actually, an addon did all the work for me), and Polymorph for, well, Domo. That's it. That was the entirety of Mage PvE. Now, I'm casting anywhere from 7-10 spells in every encounter and kicking ass while doing it. And, I have three viable specs to choose from! Good luck with "choice" in vanilla.
