TBH, I think everyone would have an easier time if they rushed to the beam from more than one direction.

I laugh so hard simply thinking of them rushing down the small pathway right into the beam blast.  I believe they were even screaming "AHHHHHHH!"  as in what a group would do in the movies for a big charge.  LOL  damnit  so f*****NG bad!!!  haha

How does Walters and a few others still have a job.  It's like Kevin Smith said about Hollywood once "You kind of fail upwards."  I need this line of work.

You know they did that on purpose for ambiguity, right? :wizard:

They wanted you to come up with your own reason as to why Harbinger didn't shoot the Norma... I guarantee if someone were to ask Bioware this, this would be the response they would get.

@People who think it is because of the Reaper IFF,

Then explain why the Reapers attack the Normandy when it is scanning planets. We don't even know if the Normandy is still using it, considering the IFF made it a huge red bullseye for the Collector Cruiser in ME2.

*Shepard and Friends are rushing down the beam along with soldiers*
*Harbinger is shooting like crazy*
*Harbinger takes out tank that nearly kills Shepard's squad*

Shepard: WHOA WHOA! HOLD ON, EVERYBODY STOP WHAT YOUR DOING! YOU TOO, HARBINGER!

Harbinger: Is there a problem, Shepard?

Shepard: Yeah, my friends were almost killed. One second.

Harbinger: Ah, of course, a terrible inconvenience.

Shepard: Joker, can you get the Normandy out of the massive battle ensuing in space and down here on London in a few seconds?

Joker: No problem Commander, I can get there faster than you can say art.

*Normandy lands near the beacon faster than you can say art*

Shepard: Alright, come on guys.

Shepard's LI: No! Shepard wait! I want to stay with you!

Shepard: I'm sorry I can't have that.

Shepard's LI: But wai-

*Shepard slaps the hull of the Normandy like a horse as it winnies FTLs out of London*

Harbinger: Shepard, are we ready now?

Shepard: ALRIGHT LET'S DO THIS NOW!!!

Harbinger: Prepare yourselves!

Soldiers: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

I think it's because like the ones on Earth Harbi didn't 'see' them. Reapers by all evidence seem to use radar so they can track human's or ships moving, and large crowd gatherings on their radar. They also may relay on high level thralls to tell them of stealth targets. In the case of Earth and London the ship used its stealth and no high level thralls were present to tell them of the ships presents.

I do find it odd that seeing at least 2 people bleep into existence and 3 people bleep out of existence didn't attract his attention. It could also be explained as an oversight on his part. He was being distracted by the rushing hordes of militants on the ground and focusing too much on their signatures to notice or examine further the anomaly.

I say sonar pinged them to your location the more pings you do just like subs you'll eventually find them. The ship also wasn't specifically said to be in stealth mode when entering the systems if that was the case EDI should've said stealth on so even if your pings attracted them so long as you are in stealth mode the couldn't 'see' you as they don't use eyes but radar to see and the sonar is like a vibration to them they feel it if they're within a curtain range.

2 possibilities. He either fought against the Catalysts control enough because he wanted "released" (dead or other) from his enslavement, and purposely avoided killing Shepard so he/she would make it and give the Reapers freedom or a merciful death.

Or, we know the Catalyst wanted an organic to reach him to make a decision for him (which is why he lifted the elevator for Shepard when he could have just left him/her there to bleed out and stop being a threat right there at the control panel) and told Harbinger to avoid killing Shepard so that they could chat.

Take your pick.

Normandy is equipped with Reaper IFF.

Yes, the Reapers do come after you in the system map. After you use your scanner, alerting them to your location. This supercedes the Reaper IFF, giving you away.

The Normandy was able to get in close during the Citadel approach because it was still invisible to all Reaper forces. It could have potentially gotten around the battle unseen the entire time.

It's simple Plot Convenience.
We needed a scene that explained why the squad appeared on the Normandy, we also needed some resolution with the LI.
I personally found the scene to be emotional and it gave me what I needed, closure with my LI.

We unfortunately will never know why Harbinger simply didn't blow the Normandy out of the sky but if I had to speculate I would assume Harbinger's mission was simply to prevent anyone from reaching the conduit, as the Normandy was only evacuating at the time it simply wasn't a priority target.

It's just plot convenience.

If it's that narrative breaking for you, then just tell yourself that Harby was simply more focused on the Hammer forces who are approaching the beam.

And this brings back my previous question: if the Normandy can get close to the beam undetected, why didn't they (Anderson, Hackett, Shepard, EDI, anybody) choose to just approach the beam using the Normandy instead of rushing like idiots to oblivion and to a painful, useless death?
This mere fact is enough to invalidate the core of the entire mission on Earth.
It's depressing how badly written this game is...:crying:

reaper IFF harby thinks its a friendly

bs if that were true they could have just flown the normandy strait to the beam in the first place

secondly if it worked like that why didnt the alliance equip more ships with it would have made the war prettye asy to win

the correct anser is  that the writers could not think of any other way to explain the crew extraction so they just threw it in. Covering up one piece of bad writting with another

Easy so the crew can be in the normandy for the planet scene, nothing more,we are not dealing with masters of writing.

This is it exactly.  They had no clue why the teammates that were in London with Shepard were stranded on the jungle planet with Joker until some fan "fixed" it for them.

One fan wrote, "Maybe Joker picked the teammates up in London before turning full coward and running away."
Fifty more fans wrote, "That's just doesn't make sense.  The Normandy has mass problems so it can't land and there's no room to land with a bunch of reapers nearby and how did Joker know he needed to evacuate them.  That would be pretty lame."

Moral of the story is never say something is too lame to be written by "some" people because that's exactly what will get written word for word.

Really.

And so what if the Normandy can't be seen by Harby.  Harby doesn't have any problem seeing individual people running along.  Why doesn't Harby target and shoot the people getting onto the Normandy?

Ok, How bout this?

Virmire Mission, ME1:
Why didn't Saren just crush Shepard's throat when he was holding him in the air on Virmire? Instead of "I think I'll stare dramatically for 5 seconds, then get distracted by an alarm and let Shep punch me and break free. Herp Derp!"

Cinematic effect. This isn't real life, people. Suspension of disbelief.

I love how they essentially landed (and risked the ship and everyone on it) for one person, not to help anyone else laying about dead or dying. Nope, just the LI and squad mate to assist them. All you other people get to suffer after seeing a ship coming in for a landing and getting your hope crushed as it takes off after rescuing just one singular person who was able to still walk on their own. Everyone else you get to endure pain as you bleed out alone surrounded by the enemy. It's kinda what ME3 feels like in a nutshell.

AGREED, finally someone gets it.

People are just looking for things to complain about because they don't want to like the post-EC ending.

Harby shooting at guys charging is the obvious answer... ya know... there were quite a few running at the beam...

The game is good it is your fault that you refuse to see it because you are stuck in your old ways.
