We love attending live events and meeting with fans. Which events or conventions do you think we should be attending? And what type of presence is most important to you (playable demo, immersive booth experience, parties, exclusive swag, panels, developer meet/greet, etc)?

--
For context, some events we've attended this year and scope include PAX East (BioWare Base) and SDCC (Multiplayer Lounge & Purgatory Bar). I'll also be at Geek Girl Con, Gamescom, and PAX Prime in August! Who knows where we'll go after that. ;)

We're intersted in events big and small and what you like about them! Really excited to read what you have to say. As usual, this is a chance to have your voice heard, not to engage in debates. Everyone's opinion is valid here. Feel free to get creative with your thoughts.

I should go. :wizard:

FanExpo in Toronto, Canada is kind of a big one for us Canadian fans ;D Sony, Ubisoft, Nintendo and Microsoft all usually have showings there, and some co-op ME3MP would probably go over extremely well!

Any event is fine, but I don't like the idea of exclusive swag just because I don't also attend. Anything with dev Q/A is good, as well as possible nuggets of lore and game information and other stuff that interacts with the fanbase.

Playable demos are a great way of attracting attention and winning the fans and developer panels are great, too.

I think that an equal showing of new and updated content (new games or info on upcoming games and info on already released games) is important as well as as being able too discuss with the developers ideas. Convention wise it really doesn't matter too me.

Cheers and good luck at Geek Girl Con Jessica

I think that during Gamescom and PAX Prime you should have a large presence. What you should actually do there is a panel where you announce details about the next Dragon Age game and answer fan questions. What I would really like to see is a teaser trailer and actually announcing the next game and giving an idea of when it is coming out.

I think it would be great if Bioware went to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. Edmonton and Calgary are neighbors, why are they never at the convention? This last year I saw many a fan dressed as their fave dragon age characters (myself and friends included) as well as many Commander Shephard's running around, but practically no bioware participation. There was the voice of Shephard this year which was great! His pannel had a great turn out, in fact the room was full.

I think having a table set up at the expo as well as a couple of pannels would be great for the fans and I think that you would have a great turn out :)

Lots of good ideas.
How about coming over here in Canada's Capital?!?! Ottawa. Yes it's boring here, but make it better and more interesting by coming here!

Australia's a bit far from you guys to get to :<, but it would be nice to see updates for the games you're working on :).
Like seeing more work for Dragon Age 3 at the next expo would be awesome :D. Talking about working process would be interesting too.

Dragon*Con for sure. We're so happy to have David Gaider there this year. I'd love to meet some more developers, creators, and voice actors, and I'm sure many of my friends would as well.

Keep up the great work and community-involvement you've demonstrated in the past!

I heard you guys dropped by New York Comic Con last year. I'm just not sure if you yourself will be there, Ms. Merizan. It would be great to finally meet the woman behind that twitter picture! Anyway, I'm sure BW has lots of followers from the city that never sleeps plus some other people living in the East Coast.

Hope to see you guys this October :D

EDIT: Would love to have a meet and greet with developers and tea parties!!

I'd like it if you guys can make events near Texas.

Something like Quakecon in Dallas? I'm not sure if you guys would do that type of event but at least it would give me an opportunity to meet Bioware...

You guys don't do many events around these parts.

When you guys do PAX or Gamescon events, I can't make stuff like that. I'm in the deep south and it's tough to go across the country for a few days...

Unless I'm completely missing the memo when you do come around...

Seems like you guys usually hit Los Angeles in the US and that's about it. Or maybe bigger population cities like New York.

You guys do have fans down south too you know. I know we fit all kinds of different stereotypes but they do have a lot of gamers too! :)

I don't really have any thoughts on how to interact with people since I've never been to an event with you guys. I'd say just mingling would be fine by me...

I just asked about this month question on another topic...

And got disapointed, what a waste of month, at least for us fans. There is not much to discuss among the players in here...

But anyway, answering the question, i would love to see Bioware come to Brazil. Maybe at Campus Party in São Paulo next year. Big place, full week, all sorts of panels happening all the time, 10k people camped with their computers (and much more visiting everyday) and so on. Takes place in february.
http://www.campus-pa...2012/index.html

And what makes a good presence for me is the reveal of something new (a companion, a location etc), guests appearences (ME events always has some Voice Over Actor in there... Bring Claudia Black!), some free stuff, reveal some new products (statues, action figures, lithos etc...).

But basically, new information on what is to come. just sit around and talk about how we like the game is kinda "meh" for me, it needs to have something more.

Obviously you're not going to come to my corner of  the US just because I asked, but if I was going to travel to go to one of these conventions the thing(s) I would most like to see are panels and meet and greets. I like hearing the developers talk about making the game and I really enjoy getting to see/hear the VAs and face models of the characters. Getting the face models to cosplay is especially entertaining.

The biggest thing that BioWare needs to do is when they attend these conventions, give us some more/new information. It would be amazing to meet you guys for sure, but I believe it is the consensus of the fan base that we want information about the game. In my opinion, I'd rather see what you guys have planned and THEN be told you're changing something later. For example, I JUST found out, not a week ago, that there was supposed to be 2 more origins in Origins than there actually were, and I was shocked. I believe that telling us these things sooner and then changing your mind about them (then telling us it was changed, not just poof, it's gone) would be better than us sitting in the dark. It's different if you don't have anything to show us, but even concepts would satiate some appetites that are starving (like mine) for information!

The other things I would like to see are more panels at the conventions. I love the lore panels in particular. Lore is my favorite part of the Dragon Age series (and Mass Effect too, figure a shout out here since it's the same studio, =D), and finding out more about them is awesome to me. Lastly, I'm glad that you guys listen to us fans and take what we have to say seriously. Thank you!

-Don

Here in my state we have cons such as Marmalade Dog, Penguicon, StarCon and U-Con.  I'd love to see Bioware in my area! :)

Developer meet and greets, panels and playable demos would all be excellent.  Getting to know the devs, sharing thoughts and salient information back and forth, and being able to lay hands on what you have and offer a gamer's opinion on your projects while they're still within the development process is extremely important IMO.  That sort of give and take is worth more than any swag, IMO :)

Thank you for the question, Jessica!

Come to England! I dunno what's happening event wise, but come anyway!

As for what I'd like to see regarding Dragon Age 3, pretty much anything you're willing to show us really. Concept art and teaser cut-scenes/game-play is always good though lol.

Keep in mind that players of Dragon Age might be gay!  Really, it happens!  So with this in mind, why not hold events in major cities and invite LGBT presence.  Also there's Gaylaxicon 2012, which happens in October I think, within Minneapolis, but I also grok that it's not the only Gaylaxicon in the world.  Set your binoculars on the bright pink horizon of Gaylaxicon.  Do your research.  Love.  and does anyone even belch out PLUR anymore?  Really, guys, I'm surprised you've not advantaged yourself of Gaylaxicon and the Toronto night life.

Also maybe you should be listening to ethnic groups.  Remember, you're not in an ivy tower and should do some consideration since you have monsters known as darkspawn (possessed by evil "old gods"), your setting is largely Europe, and I nearly get shouted at by my homies at whenever I talk about your game.  They think I paint myself white and dance naked in front of my mirror at night.  So... help?

I don't get out to the conventions often but if I did, maybe I'd want a dragon costume.  Also, see how official cosplay items sell in the market.  I think it would be worth your while to have non-weaponized costumes.  There should be special groups in the game that appeal to broad target audiences; sell those costumes.  Sell secret diaries.  Sell mass-market hypnosis DVD featuring Morrigan telling the listener(s) she's always loved them and is sure they'll do well tomorrow.  In fact, invent a self-help organization and sell fake self-help videos and brochures.   It worked for "Bob" and the Church of the Sub-Genius, it will work for dragons and blood mages.
