[I Am Robot]

 Hi, I'm playing mass effect 1 again and this time I found that you can go to the maintenance area before going to the labs. This way you can save the survivors. But after activating the neutron purge I coudn't go back down to where the survivors are. So my concern is that they were killed by the neutron purge. Although I think the neutron purge only affects the lab areas, Therefore I wanted to make sure they survive. I searched the internet  and someone did say they survive in bioware forums but I still wanted to ask.

The explosion has to be confined to the labs, or you'd be killed in the elevator.
