The already existing info of the movie made it rather pointless anyway.

The movie being canceled isn't bad news. It's outstanding news.

Honestly, I don't really care; I can't recall any good movies based on video games, don't see any reason this would change with a mass effect movie.

I am still hoping for a ME movie or TV series. It is awesome universe. Sadly there are many haters now after the ME3 ending. Too bad really, they are missing out...

I hope for one too, but after all the groping about the ending of ME3, I doubt it's going to happen now.

I love the universe, is well created, well written, but still have "the ending".

I mean, is like the middle earth. Same awesomess, but newer.

Well, do you think that a middle earth would be successfull if for example Sauron's hand let Frodo choose to destroy the ring, control Sauron, or marry with him (sinthesys :P)?

It would be weird, so, let it rest.

What is the news here?

Good for it if it's finally been officially canceled. It needed to happen eventually.

I doubt that had anything to do with it in all actuality (they're making more ME3 DLC remember?). Most video game adaptions actually don't get made. Where is Just Cause? World of Warcraft? Bioshock? The ME3 Ending is not the center of the universe and neither are we.

Meh, I don't care if it never gets made. From what I know of it, it's about Shepard which is almost an insta-fail since most fans wouldn't be happy with it.

Its a movie about a game most fans wouldn't like it even if it did avoid the lead character. :)
It could have been good but I just cant see it happening. Bio showed us with the last books that they dont have the staff to oversee multiple media without large lore mistakes and contradictions becoming evident, (Hire a continuity editor for your properties BioWare please) They don't have a chance with a movie where the studios have a lot more power to make changes.

See I disagree - I think it would have been great say if it was about the First Contact war. It doesn't tread on any continuity toes or change how people perceive their Shepard to be.

I would consider it good news if the movie was cancelled. When was the last time Hollywood didn't chew on a good game and spat out a really bad movie? In fact, when was the last time we saw any good movies from Hollywood at all? They're creatively bankrupt. We've seen it so many times, it has become a law of nature. How much more proof do we need?

Besides, with a script written by the same clown who did Thor and I am legend, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

I don't think the ending mess had much to do with the cancelation of the movie either, although the fanbase did take a hit, I'm sure they'd rather just pump out a bunch of dlc for a fraction of the price though.
There are a few movies based on games though, FF Advent children for one, very cool movie if you're a FFVII fan, the resident evil movies as well, but besides some characters it was very loosly based on the games. I'd love to see Bioshock be made into a movie though, I think that one could really work.

You kidding me right this is amazing news, can you imagine how people would've been upset if the movie didn't live up to their expectations, and btw its probably cancelled because E.A. plans to release Need For Speed movie adaptation in 2014.

Didn't they already do that and call it 'Fast & Furious'? (not a serious question BTW)

:lol::D:D:D yeah I know isn't it wierd, but apperently the guy who played john carter is in line up for the main character, E.A.instead of throwing money away like this, they should've made Need For Speed Underground 3, **** How I loved the undergrounds, well at least Most Wanted was really good and then the whole franchise went donwhill from there.

It's probably a good thing. Thor, I Am Legend and Poseidon weren't memorable at all.

Good thing. ME3 was a joke. ME2 was only marginally better. A movie is just a money grab.

This is kind of good news, and to be honest I think it would have hurt the franchise more than gaining fans, especially with the current mixed bag of love and hate over ME3's endings.

And if it's anything like when Cameron had the task of making the script for spider-man, they only made the script so they got their paycheck, no matter how ridiculous it was.

The Article states the script is done followed by some empty speculation to try and force Bioware to make an announcement,

They are still working on it.

Here's an interview with Avi Arad, the movies producer posted a couple weeks ago. The guy has gone from a toy inventor to one of the biggest heavyweights in Hollywood.

http://www.craveonli...zing-spider-man

Here's the chunk:

"You have Uncharted and Mass Effect too. Will you be able to do for video games what you’ve for comic books movies?

Avi Arad: I think I’m about to prove this one too. It
all takes time as you know. Studios are still skeptical as you know on
video
games, but I actually think Uncharted will be a big hit. Mass Effect is
a tour de force. The game is a movie. I think it will work.

But you saw something in comic books that no one else did. What are they missing about video games?

Avi Arad: They cannot viscerally replace the first person. In the game, if you’re playing Nate in Uncharted,
the reason a lot of these video games can be a big movie, it’s a plain
simple idea in which they actually did define the character. There are
games that the character is you because you are playing. He was a real
character already. Mass Effect, all the characters are
fascinating and the philosophy of the game is fascinating.
Philosophically
it’s really interesting. If you look at Metal Gear Solid, it’s like
Cain and Abel. It’s a bible story. It takes the studios a little
time.

Matt Tolmach: Hey now, hey now. Careful.

Avi Arad: What?

Matt Tolmach: Careful, you know. Someone at the studio bought Uncharted for you. Who was that?

Avi Arad: The elevator, it’s true. We were walking and he said, “I’ll take it.”

The hired screenwriter is Mark Protosevich, and his claim to fame is that he wrote I Am Legend, which to be fair wasn't a horrible film, but if you look at the rest of his body of work you'll see that he isn't exactly batting 1000.

According to Rotten Tomatoes:
