if there is no ME movie .. it is not a big loss IMHO, anyway, Shepard's story should remain only a video game, they want ME movie ? then they should write a new original story

I would not mind seeing a movie that takes place in the ME universe with all new characters and such.

However, a movie that is based around Commander Shepard and the Normandy would be quite silly (and possibly disasterous) because we as fans would not be exposed to anything new.

Am I the only one that read the article and didn't see anything about the project being officially cancelled? Yeah, speculation that it might be since there's been nothing significant in the way of progression towards a possible release, but nothing that makes it official.

As much as I love the Mass Effect universe, I think making movie versions of Shepard's story would be a logistical and budgetary nightmare. Right out of the gate, they're going to have issues with choosing MaleShep over FemShep. Second, how do you handle all the choices offered in game? They'd have to pick defaults, and those won't sit well with fans either. If you romance Liara, Ashley fans get pissed. If you kill Wrex on Virmire, his fans pitch a fit. Sacrifice Kaidan instead of Ashley, and Kaidan's supporters lose their minds with rage. And that's just the first movie! Good lord, if they made Mass Effect 2, It'd be a freaking mess.

So to translate, "We have no news what so ever, so let's just guess what happened."

ME 1 in itself was 40 + hours of game play. No way a 2 hour movie could encompass that ( if that was the goal of the movie )

I think a scripted tv series would be a better format for any adaptation of ME to a live action media.

Just my 2 cents.

Christian Bale has too much self-respect to denigrate himself with such a role.

Sounds more like the writer is moving on to other projects. Whether that means he's still writing for this one, or someone else is going to make a pass at it, only time can tell.

There's also the fact that the alleged face model for Kaidan was caught posting a comment on Jessee Metcalf's FB only a week or two ago. that stated he (luciano) had heard metcalf was being considered for the role(of kaidan).

Mass Effect 1 was like a movie for me anyway. Its story was amazing. All movies based on video games suck imo. A movie would make things worse for the ME franchise seeing there are still people whining about the endings.

A: Look I'm telling you, we need this character to be in the film.
B: I'm telling you, it's a bad idea. That character was never in the Mass Effect video games.
A: But he does martial arts and is Chinese!
B: Which is racist! Not all Chinese people are into martial arts. He is clearly a tolken. Secondly he was never in the games!
A: But Lu Ming is amazing. Whahh, ak pahh, hu, hu! You see that's Kung Fu for, "loads of money!"
B: Kung Fu isn't a language.
A: The millions of Chinese people who will purchase the Blu Rays beg to differ. Everyone knows Mass Effect is going to tank at the Box Office. We need to make up our money on sales of Blu Rays!
B: And how is a racial stereotype going to achieve that?
A: He is not a racial stereotype. He is someone who the Chinese people can relate to!
B: Remember the time you tried to set Assassin's Creed in India and turn it into a Bollywood musical?
A: Yeah. That was an amazing idea. Imagine a singing assassin about to stab a guy.
B: Which would completly blow his cover!
A: Yeah, yeah. Lu Ming is going to be in the next Mass Effect film.
B: I don't want Lu Ming in the film!
A: Fine! I'l compromise. I'll have him killed on Virmire!

Honestly, I don't really care; I can't recall any good movies based on video games, don't see any reason this would change with a mass effect movie.

I would completely agree. Games make crap movies.

Mario Brothers was the worst to date. In fact I think the Mario Brothers movie won the award for worst movie of all time. Can't remember who that was. Probably one of those VH1 countdown shows. :D

Street Fighter was a horrid movie.

Mortal Kombat was full of bad acting and cheesy lines.

Doom was a close second to Mario Brothers on the horrific scale.

Max Payne movie was boring and forgettable.

Resident Evil movies have been mostly disappointing and have only continued to get worse with each sequel. They share little in common with the games.

Can't speak for Tomb Raider because I never watched the movies or played games. Seemed like it did okay in the box office. Same goes for the Prince of Persia movie. Never really played the game.

Curious about the announced Assassin's Creed and Deus Ex movies.

Is "Person A" exective producer Jon Peters? If so, then Shepard needs to fight a giant mechanical spider and a polar bear.

idk i feel kinda like if they dont let the majority of the community voice their opinions on what they'd like to see, EX : Fem Shep vs Male Shep, Ash vs Kaiden, Paragaon vs Renegade, Romance Options, Save Rex, Saver other team members, and Pick the ending you might end up with something that ticks the majority of players off after they've seen the move. granted no matter how u look at it, ppl will be walking out of the theater going "darnit that wasnt SHEP" because the story allows for a lot of changes to how it's viewed based on your decissions. There is no way they could make it so that everyone is happy but at least they could get a majority vote to try to make the most ppl happy....I mean how many times have they told us the fans shape the story.

I thought mass effect was about our shepard, our story of which was different to the next person......i assume default shepard would take the lead so its already losing its female shepard players......just like ME3 was catered for the shooter audiance, the film will be less bladerunner and more starship troopers 3
