However, a movie that is based around Commander Shepard and the Normandy would be quite silly (and possibly disasterous) because we as fans would not be exposed to anything new.

As much as I love the Mass Effect universe, I think making movie versions of Shepard's story would be a logistical and budgetary nightmare. Right out of the gate, they're going to have issues with choosing MaleShep over FemShep. Second, how do you handle all the choices offered in game? They'd have to pick defaults, and those won't sit well with fans either. If you romance Liara, Ashley fans get pissed. If you kill Wrex on Virmire, his fans pitch a fit. Sacrifice Kaidan instead of Ashley, and Kaidan's supporters lose their minds with rage. And that's just the first movie! Good lord, if they made Mass Effect 2, It'd be a freaking mess.

I think a scripted tv series would be a better format for any adaptation of ME to a live action media.
Just my 2 cents.

Christian Bale has too much self-respect to denigrate himself with such a role.

B: I'm telling you, it's a bad idea. That character was never in the Mass Effect video games.
A: But he does martial arts and is Chinese!
B: Which is racist! Not all Chinese people are into martial arts. He is clearly a tolken. Secondly he was never in the games!
A: But Lu Ming is amazing. Whahh, ak pahh, hu, hu! You see that's Kung Fu for, "loads of money!"
B: Kung Fu isn't a language.
A: The millions of Chinese people who will purchase the Blu Rays beg to differ. Everyone knows Mass Effect is going to tank at the Box Office. We need to make up our money on sales of Blu Rays!
B: And how is a racial stereotype going to achieve that?
A: He is not a racial stereotype. He is someone who the Chinese people can relate to!
B: Remember the time you tried to set Assassin's Creed in India and turn it into a Bollywood musical?
A: Yeah. That was an amazing idea. Imagine a singing assassin about to stab a guy.
B: Which would completly blow his cover!
A: Yeah, yeah. Lu Ming is going to be in the next Mass Effect film.
B: I don't want Lu Ming in the film!
A: Fine! I'l compromise. I'll have him killed on Virmire!

Honestly, I don't really care; I can't recall any good movies based on video games, don't see any reason this would change with a mass effect movie.
I would completely agree. Games make crap movies.
Mario Brothers was the worst to date. In fact I think the Mario Brothers movie won the award for worst movie of all time. Can't remember who that was. Probably one of those VH1 countdown shows.
Street Fighter was a horrid movie.
Mortal Kombat was full of bad acting and cheesy lines.
Doom was a close second to Mario Brothers on the horrific scale.
Max Payne movie was boring and forgettable.
Resident Evil movies have been mostly disappointing and have only continued to get worse with each sequel. They share little in common with the games.
Can't speak for Tomb Raider because I never watched the movies or played games. Seemed like it did okay in the box office. Same goes for the Prince of Persia movie. Never really played the game.
Curious about the announced Assassin's Creed and Deus Ex movies.

Is "Person A" exective producer Jon Peters? If so, then Shepard needs to fight a giant mechanical spider and a polar bear.
