I would like to propose a small UI change that would really help some classes

SCENARIO:

Suppose I play a game with a human engineer with max points
in Combat Drone (lets say I went for chain lightening, shock attack, and
explosive damage on death).

Now I cast it. A few moments later I leg it out of the room
and find myself in some new cover (imagine that from my new position I cannot
hear my drone nor is it in my line of sight and its not appearing in the kill
feed). I now have a bit of a dilemma; I do not know whether my drone is alive
or dead.

  • If the drone is dead then I want to recast it (e.g.  Drone=more DPS, no Drone=reduced DPS).
  • On the other hand, it could be alive and currently doing
something useful (like smacking the crap out of a cannibal/distracting a
banshee/staggering Marauder). In which case: recasting drone=reduced DPS and/or
    putting teammates in jeopardy.

CONCLUSION:

It is useful for the player to know whether (a) his drone is
on the battlefield and (B), whether that drone is currently doing
something.  This knowledge affects how we
play with the character.

Of course, it’s not just the human engineer that has use for
this information; A Salarian with decoy will want to pop another one out the
moment the first is destroyed. And moreover, if he runs out a room and knows
that the decoy is currently getting attacked he might wait a while before
redeploying it, Since to redeploy immediately puts teammates at risk and potentially
reduces DPS (depending on spec).

MY PROPOSAL:

I would like Bioware to make some sort of UI display that
gives us this valuable information.

On 360 this could be something really simple like the having
3 colours for the power icon:  usual
grey= Drone/decoy is not out, Green= Out on the field but not currently doing
anything, orange/red= active (i.e. attacking and/or being attacked). PC might
need some other solution. Anyone else like the idea?

And for those of you compelled by lore:
Engineers have tinkered with
the drone and added a small radio antenna to it, which means it can send real-time
information back to the operator. Naturally, such a technical innovation has
the reapers quaking in their boots. +5 war effort.  Hackett Out.
