Harsh. Though I'm one of the very few that think so, apparently. If it was a competitive game, I'd totally understand it. But its co-op. I never had a match with a glitcher before, so I can't speak out of experience on the matter. All the platinum matches I've been in (just a few) didn't have anyone glitching. Though maybe that would had been preferred since instead I got stuck in teams that had people leaving after dying in wave one. "Ffff this is too hard bye."
Though I'd probably leave if I encountered a glitcher (depending on what consumables I'd be basically wasting by doing so) simply out of the fear of being banned for being in a match with them. If you want to glitch and get credits on platinum, fine, whatever, just do it in a private room why don't you?
The only way it would effect me is if I'm part of the team and thus risk being banned because of something they did. Granted I doubt that would be the case but still, pays to worry about these things just to be safe. So if they did it in private and get all the unlocks, how does this hurt me? It's a co op game, them having the best weapons and gear would actually help in matches, its not like I'm going to be fighting against them or something. I can understand BioWare not caring for it though since the packs are items you can purchase with real money.
I don't feel cheated when I have to work hard to get the equipment I need from packs but glitchers get them quicker and easier. Same reason why I don't feel cheated that someone could spend a lot of real money to skip the grinding and just get packs. Its co-op, why should I care what they have. If anything I should be able to get a sense of pride in knowing all my stuff is legitimently earned. If it was competitive, it'd be unfair because they would be glitching to have the superior advantage over you in a fight. I think too many people are looking at co-op with too much of a competitive mindset, honestly.
Hopefully they'll find a fix for this glitch and we can just put it behind us and not have to worry about such things. However, removing the guns required for this glitch, as some have suggested, would be horrible. It'd be taking away from everyone because of what some glitchers did. They glitch so we lose rights to use certain weapons because of it? That wouldn't be very cool. I like my Krysae - it makes me have fond memories of Fallout 3. Boom, meaty chunks everywhere.
Also, to the original poster, I would tell your friends the risks of banning for it are very real and BioWare have banwaves all the time. That being said, If I were in their shoes I would see it as a very jerkish thing to do if you reported them directly. A real life friend just reports you for something so trival and gets you banned from a game? Come on people, its not like hiding them for murder. Not aiding and abetting a fugitive here. You don't have to approve of what they're doing, and probably best if you don't play with them if they're going to glitch because it can get you into trouble. But reporting your supposed pals over something like this? Jeeze, friendship means nothing when it comes to a cooperative video game? Some people take this way too seriously.
