I think it's too harsh just take away the credits they earned in the match. Especially considering how geth rocket troopers cheat, and how banshees have magnetic hands. There is also the whole server disconnection issues. Banning someone is really to big of a punishment.

I suppose we should let bank robbers keep all the money they steal too then I mean they earned it and went through some effort over the people who worked for the money right?

Yeah it's not real money dude. If it was real money then you'd have a point but it's credits. Hell if that's the ase then Bioware owe's me millions of credits for all the times I've been disconnected on round 10 and 11. Some people treat this game like it's real life.

Yes it is equivalent to real money because the things it is used to purchase are also purchased with real money.

Its not meant to be a word for word example, otherwise I would just repeate, you know, the same exact thing that isn't being understood.

Sure money isn't being stolen from other players but the 'fake money' is being taken for half the effort if that and those playersgain an unfair advantage. But people justify that because ' the game cheats' or ' the store is hard'. Those arguments are asinine.

Oh I agree with that point.  Justifying the glitching is an excercise in futility.  But so is justifying the bans.  Sure Bioware has the perogative to do so, but that doesn't make them any less asinine.  Their whole handling if this debacle is amazing.

Zero tolerance for all bad behaviour and rulebreaking in games and irl.

That's a ridiculous stance.  Declaring that accidents don't happen and that there aren't varying degress of intent in bad behaviour is silly.

I now have this mental image of you in a robe preaching from the Torah/Old Testament: "Fire and Brimstone for everyone!"

:pinched:

@OP

what's your definition of cheating?
would you be happy If I worked for you, yet I'd stole money from your business? Even though I agreed to your Terms of Agreement?

The people that are in game with them? Do nothing with them.

Except BW has proven themselves unable to distinguish with their bans.

Immediate ban is too harsh, and a great way to lose a customer forever. Stat wipe isn't much better.

Problem is I don't play COD multiplayer and I only own one COD any way. My problem is I just don't care it's not even near the top of the list of things I care about. If someone cheat let the do it if Bioware has a problem then fix what allows them to cheat.

As far as I'm concerned if they're doing it in private, it may be a little harsh... who are they hurting, unless you get manifest envy over it...... the ones who do it in public that's just rude, disrespectful nd ruining three other peoples good time. Ban hammer of doom on those jerks

Just cause you don't have or play CoD doesn't mean the example is null.
They are fixing the glitch as well as fixing the 'problem' a cheater will cheat. They are removing them as well for the better of the players playing fairly. If you don't care then go ahead, glitch if you want, ignore the issues, whatever, but then why are you posting here if it doesn't bother you one way or the other?

The gliutchers bother me, to know they are obtaining tons more credits and getting various things I would love to have while I play fairly and take more time to get less. You better believe I want to see these people put in their place, they don't deserve what they have.

In the game, if its a private match it only effects that match, but the credits earned carry over into everything else so even doing it in a private match is still bad.

Lolwut? Let's get something straight: robbing a bank and glitching can in way be compaired. Robbing a bank doesn't get you banned for all banks. Plus bank robbers put peoples lives in danger. It gets you put in prison. As to where glitching gets you banned from the game in which you could just go buy another one.

Why are people compairing this to dangerous real life situations?

There is no, nor has there ever been, an "OR" between "fixing the glitch" and "banning the glitchers".

Why are you pointing out a bad example thats been over turned for a better one? It's old now. So I used a bad example that I still think has its relative points but people, like you, want to point out only the flaws in thew connections not the similarities so I gave the example of Boosters in CoD which is much more relatable.

point still stands, cheating is bad, you get caught, you will get punished. As much as people 'dont care' what others do and so on and think its fine, they care an awefull lot when Bioware steps in to clean up.

edit: well this is mostly irrelevant now, the glitch is fixed (hopefully for good) and now its just a matter of bioware banning the last cases.

Well I'm posting here because I can and I've never missile glitched. I'm just saying it's too harsh of a punishment to ban someone for missile glitching. It's dumb and an over reaction by bioware.

Even more simple solution. Let me kick people from my server during the game. It is MY server after all, I paid for the kit and I pay for the bandwidth and I maintain it. If I want a modded server I can then kick those who don't like it. If I want a regular server I can kick those who use mods. Why Bioware think EA should be in control of access to my server I have no idea.

Personally I can't wait until someone works out how to drop the EA matching service and set up our own server browsers instead. Problem solved.

This was so much easier with NWN and NWN2.

How do the changes to charge up system effect how it fires? With a slower RoF do they fire at the same speed now as before?

At work so can't find out =(

apparently you fire with no charge up but wait the normal charge up time after the shot. Means you can get up and rocket right away now, which is a lot better.

Ban or no ban, there has to be some form of consequences for exploiting.

If BW dont do something against people that have been glitching, they are essentially saying that its ok to exploit, as long as enough people are doing it. Furthermore it would be very unfair to people how has been struggeling to earn credits the way it was meant while RG'ers were speeing in the emergency lane.

If they dont ban, reset accounts or wipe gear + weapons from the offenders, it will only be a matter of time before the next fad takes over. I'm going to guess INI-editors. I already have a few ideas for creative use of the game files:

The LocuMore: Locust that fires Claymore rounds.
The ArcVenger: Avenger that shoots Arc Grenades (maxed radius and damage).
or my favourite...

The Cerberus Hydrarrier: Cerberus Harrier that fires Hydra Rockets.

Editing the game files is a ban'able offence, and it requres some applications to be downloaded in order to do it, hence not a lot of people actually do it. But dont worry: All it takes is someone writing a small program that does it for you and eternal glory is ours! If we can just get enough to do it, we'll get away with it. Hurra!

I capisce what you're saying.
But it's a matter of believing you, or believeing Bioware.

I choose to believe them over you.

Capisce?

Why would you choose to believe a COMPANY over a PERSON?  Human much?

When you walk into a jail, do you believe every person who tells you they're innocent?

Sorry if I don't immediately believe someone who says "I DIDN'T DO NUFFIN" is telling the truth.

Also, companies are made up of people. You are basically calling the human who reviewed his case a liar. It's still what one human says vs what one human says, not what a robot says vs what a human says.

That's exactly what I'm doing.  If it makes you feel better, I'm also using third grade logic in that failing to provide proof only proves the absence of any proof at all.  It doesn't make it any less relevant, though.  However, your defending a company for doing something that it clearly knows is wrong (notice its silence) is completely and totally irrelevant to the issue here.

There's no "issue" here.

There is YOU, calling somebody a liar.

There is ME, calling somebody else a liar.

You are no better, or worse, for believing one over the other. Nor am I. I have my reasons for believing Bioware over the banned consumer. If you don't like my reasons, that's simply too bad. However, I never implied you were less human for you assumption- that was the implication you made. You are obviously being needlessly aggressive.

Would it help if I started replying to each of your posts with one of those Conspiracy Theorist Keanu memes?

"MAYBE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS 'GUILTY'..
..AND WE ARE ALL JUST PLAYTHINGS FOR THE MAN?"

I love how BioWare is the bad guy here, when you were the one cheating the system to get an advantage over other players.
