I tried uninstalling the mods, but that don't work.I went back to an earlier save, and he moves fine for a minute, then he just stands there.

Sound like his Tactics got changed. See if you need to change his tactics to Aggressive. If so, that should do it.
is there a tactic 'stand there while i fight for my life!'?
I never had this problems in Origins, but I did have the same problem in DA2 with Merril. The tactics seemed fine, if I swapped her out and brought her back later she would engage the enemy.

That's happened to me a few times, though pretty rarely. It's a bug of some sort. Speaking of which, make sure that your game is fully patched. (does DA:O have an autopatch feature? Can't rememeber.)

He will only move if I command him too. This just started happening and I do not have it set to "Hold" the rest of my party moves fine, but he just stands there.I did install some new mods, but they were for clothing, nothing else.

Make sure that hold (H) is not on, which I'm pretty sure you already did. If you are new to the tactics screen, select one of the presets available; if you are using Alistair as tank, may be set it as 'defender', and behaviour may be 'Aggressive', so that he starts the attack routine the moment an enemy is visible.
If you select the whole party at once and right click on an enemy to concentrate fire, like we usually do in an RTS, keep in mind that the tactics of the whole party will be suspended, i.e. once one enemy is killed, your party won't jump to the nearest enemy unless commanded to or attacked by a nearby enemy. This simple thing pissed me off for a long time until I realised that 'Whoever you select his/her tactics get suspended.'
In certain congested areas, for instance in a doorway there may not be enough room for all your party members to flank an opponent; in such cases, you may notice that one of your teammates is just standing like a jerk, but these occurences are quite rare but happens whatsoever.
But the truth is, the tactics screen is not perfect. That's why there is the Advanced Tactics Mod.

I don't use the Tatics feature in this game, I play without tatics.

I thought I mentioned that I do not have it placed on H, its set to move freely.OOPs, I meant to post that I already have it set to move freely and I do not mess with tatics.

Oh, sorry. My Bad, i didn't see that you've already mentioned about 'Hold'.
Ok, now I understand your problem. You have disabled everyone's tactics and the behaviour is set to default.
So, Alistair will not attack an enemy without being commanded. When he's done killing that particular enemy, he'll not engage in combat unless you individually command him to, no matter how many enemies are flanking your mage.
At that point, Alistair will only attack when hit by an enemy first. Otherwise he'll just stand like numbnuts. Got it?

I had a similar issue with Alistair once; somehow I had accidently set his Tactic to "Passive".....now I make it a habit to check the Tactics if I don't think party members are engaging properly. (admittedly, I do change my Tactics quite often depending on the fight....if I know there are a number of traps ahead, and I don't believe I will have the time to disable them before we are set upon by enemies, then I will switch the melee companions to Default. Once the battle is over I switch back to aggressive....unless I forget... >.< )

@Blazomancer - that was my thought as well.

Yes, that's a nice tactic, otherwise it's really annoying how they charge to their impending doom and ruin the XP that can be earned by disabling them.
Once I remember, Morrigan was just standing without autoattacking although I've set a beautiful list of absurd tactics for her.
I checked and found out that I've set her to cast Crushing Prison on Alistair when he's surrounded by some number of enemies,i don't remember. Hehe, how could she cast crushing prison on Alistair; she just stood with her Staff drawn forward and the status at the top left showed that she was casting crushing prison all the time. Lol

God; I don't know how many times I have messed about in Tactics, and set something completely rediculous for my companions to do! hehe. But I do love switching Tactics around. It's fun to experiment.

I do like to put everyone on passive/defensive so that they'll follow my warden into battle and not run off on their own.
As for Alistair being stuck, it appears to be some glitch. Unless he's actually stuck on something on the floor, just try switching to him and clicking on the enemy that he needs to attack. Hopefully he'll stop getting stuck.
