I just recently bought ME1 on steam during the summer sale, and to be sure I could run it, I checked the specs and apparently I am supposed to run it perfectly. BUT, when I am playing the game every couple minutes the game will freeze for a few minutes (worst being about 8 minutes) and it happens so often that it makes the game unplayable, I tried setting the graphics to the lowest and it did absolutley nothing, now the game looks horrible and is still freezing. Anything I can do to make it stop?

You haven't told us much of anything. For instance, if you went to visit the fools at "Can you Run it", then you haven't really "checked your specs" at all, because they are wrong far too often.

None of the sites offering such quick estimates are ever 100% accurate.  EA has had a similar calculation function a couple of times that was as bad or worse than SR Labs (the Can You Run It morons).  The best of the type is at the YouGamers site.

Ok, I looked at the "truthful" Specs and again I should be able to run it fine. But still even with the lowest possible graphics setting it keeps freezing for extended periods of time, i haven't even gotten past Eden Prime because of this issue. I purchased the game from steam which is digital download.

These are my Specs:

OS: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3
Graphics: nVIDIA Geforce GT 520 Drivers: 301.42
Sound Card: SB Live! Wave Device Drivers: 5.12.0001.3300
DirectX Version: 9.0c

After that I have stated the issue I'm having above and in the original post.

A GT 520 is a terrible card, not for games at all.

http://www.gpureview...1=650&card2=180

It is NAMED as inadequate, in between the 310 and 7100: " 310, 520, 7100, "

Have you lowered the screen resolution to something more grainy? That helps weak cards like yours more than lowering the quality settings.

Like I said I set it to the lowest graphics settings, no change.

I see your sound card is a Sound Blaster. I have an entry level Sound Blaster card with emulated EAX features and noticed a serious decrease in performance when I turned hardware audio on in the audio settings. This is because environmental audio was emulated and required resources elsewhere. If you have that option on, turn it off and restart the game. I hope that helps, but it's a long shot.

The member's response to my suggestion was about graphics quality instead of screen resolution, so IMO, lowering that is still a possible help.
