Damned right I would.

Mass Effect 1 was okay when it first came out, but there were a number of things I really didn't like about it, like the overly stupid inventory system or the fact that I couldn't aim worth **** with that wobbly sniper rifle scope. The graphics don't hold a candle to the current graphics, there were no Paragon or Renegade interrupts as the Sentinel (which is my favorite class in ME2 and 3) was pretty much crap.

Pacing is just fine. It gave me time to explore. I don't want time limations imposed on my gameplay. It wasn't imposed in ME3 with reapers well reaping the Earth, Palavan, & Thessia. You could go off and start scanning if you choose to do so no consequences for doing that.

True, but in ME3 there is still a certain sense of urgency and scanning really doesn't take up that much (real life) time. Exploring with the MAKO could take a while and I never got the feeling, in between missions, that I needed to make haste because Saren and his minions were threatening galactic peace. It was more like, before landing on a mission planet: "Why did we have to go here again? Oh, right, to stop Saren! ... Wait. Is Saren the Asari or the Turian? Oh, whatever. I'll just do what my journal tells me to do." While after Virmire I knew exactly what to do and I was pumped to do it as fast as possible.

Yea because I viewed it the first 3 major missions in ME1 as investigating to find out what Saren's next step was. Honeslty, no one knew where he was or where he was going, why he was doing this etc. You gotten clues on where to go check for information really thats about it. Thats the approach I took when I first played the game. Thats why the pacing felt right to me.  But if you are about haste/keeping a sense of urgency, skip the exploration portion honestly, its optional not required to complete ME1.

Depends on the price. I've already got ME1, so an improved version ain't worth the price of a full game to me.

At $10, probably. At $5, certainly.

No, thanks. Everything about ME1, including gameplay, has a certain je ne sais quoi that I wouldn't trade for anything.

If it was just the combat system sure, I liked ME3's combat a lot better than the other two games. But please keep the Mako, actual working journal, and story the way it is.

graphics could be improved along with cinematics,

also the planet surface of the planets you explore with the mako could be improved
becouse honestly the controlls for the mako wasnt hard to learn.

but the textures we were driving on. 90 degree angle mountains all over and stuff...
just make the planets a little flatter and the places we drive to a bit more acessable :)

but to redo the gameplay and style. no thanks it's fine just the way it is.
the hole cover behing this and roll behind this isnt that apeeling to me.
i prefer me1's style! also the weapons and armours were better and more fun :D

Oh yes.
If the on-the-ground parts of the game were changed to fit ME3's gameplay, but no content would be removed, playing this game would be a treat.

If there is something that has been improved in ME is the power progression, combat and weapons.
So if this remake has all that and keeps the exploration... I'll buy it twice.

Also, I always have a hard time with ME's gameplay. It's too clunky and boring. In the end, I only play for the dialogues and to make a new Shep for import to the other games...

I've always advocated a re-make with modern mechanics. I know "purists" would revile at the concept, but you don't have to lose the exploration, planet trawling, Mako, etc, if you added in ME3's weapons, classes, and combat maneuvers. The worlds could be identical (there's already areas for cover).

Tell me honestly that they could use Virmire with no changes with the addition of the ME3 combat system and I'll call you a liar. How about the Thorian battle on Feros without changing the level?

I love Gears of War, so I understand why people like the combat in ME3, but honestly I am surprised that they can't see that a change in the combat system of ME1 would require a redesign of the levels.

Not only levels, but also enemy factions, some powers and IA.
Implementing those changes will require a lot of effort, so I really doubt we'll ever see something like that.
But if they manage to do it, and do it right... It will be something interesting to see.

Maybe, if they don't change the story at all, it would be better.

Its just that I've played ME1 to death and the story/side missions are so boring.

lol no. I would buy ME3 if they remade it with a good story, dialogue choices, sidequests, etc... like the first 2. ME1 isn't so old that I feel it needs a rehaul. Now if they remade KotOR...<3

If they didn't change a thing, but just release it as a digital download from the PSN, then yes! I'd love to have access to those ME1 missions that made little differences in ME2, like the Sirta Foundation, Conrad etc.

I already own ME1 and 2 on Xbox, but got the ME2 Complete Edition and ME3 on PS3 (because **** paying to play multiplayer.)

Mass Effect 1 is the best game in the series... I would not change a thing... In my opinion, the animations got worse from game to game... the graphics got improved but still, the quality jump was a minor one...
If there is a need to adjust games, they should adjust the sequels to be more like the orginal...

but that is just my own subjective opinion.

Yes I would.
The best combat in the series lies in ME 3. Period

What I would really buy is ME3 with Drew as lead writer and ME1 combat and enviroments.
