With the advent of the new platinum mode, some kick ass assual rifles and shotguns the last couple of DLCs (reegar, pirhanna, typhoon, harrier) plus the nerfing of tac cloack and basically all sniper rifles in general it seems the game has shifted. In platinum using biotics takes way too long to kill things, (hell even on gold lately) i watch explosions only take down 2-3 bars of shield or armor on an atlas while a reegar can ruin their shields in seconds and a typhoon, harrier, ot pirhanna with AP mods can down their armor in seconds. Before tech bursting and biotic explosions were the way to go on tougher difficulties, infiltrators did devices and sniped acorss the map and revivied teammates. Now infiltartors run around with shotguns, we have more powerful assualt rifles finally making them viable on harder difficulties, and a new enginner with a ton of grenades and a new super soldier it just feels like weapons classes are the way to go for platinum or gold lately. anyone else get that feeling?

yep; though you can still get an all biotic squad done in platinum in 20 min if you camp correctly on FBGlacier with 2 smashing and 2 using justicars bubble and area reave.

I will play sniper Infiltrator on Gold, but it seems to me that every bullet that misses can come back and haunt you much sooner than a single shotgun shot, so I find myself switching to Human Soldier with Claymore very often these days.

I frankly hated that Assault Rifles were useless in the initial release of ME3.

I like the fact that there is, at least on certain characters in certain classes, a real choice between using Powers and using Armaments. It's about choice now.

For instance, the Soldier, on release, was totally useless, and the Sentinel was horrifically underpowered before his shields were buffed and assault rifles given the damage buff they deserved.

I don't see this as degenerating, I see this as giving different players different play choices.

Powers are still good on gold, at least if you count grenade spam as powers.

On platinum it's definately all about about high dps, allthough biotic teams can get some decent clear times as well. Don't think this is a good thing tbh, it's quite boring to play infiltrator or destroyer every game on platinum but it is by far the most effective if I want to win, considering platinum is mostly heavy unit spam.

Yes, I have been pointing out that:

Weapons >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> powers for some time now.

Not really.

They are still quite new.  I remember after the DLC pack, there were Batarians and Vorcha in virtually every match.  Now that has died down quite a bit.

Sad thing is, we'll see weapon bonuses getting nerfed before we see powers getting buffed.

I still find platinum easier when my team is 2 biotics and 2 weapon users. It creates a nice balance.

BE's never should have been nerfed.

i dont play my sniper inflt any more but i still play my n7 shadow infilt on gold and plat, i just wish the ones that snipe would actually know how to do it the right way i.e cover the fighters while they are fighting the main group and not get flanked, thats how i always played with my sniping quarian

Why shouldn't weapons that you need to aim beat auto-aim powers?

Weapons were the reason why ME3 was awesome. If i wanted to shoot dem guns i would play something, where guns are implemented better.

Reegars, Krysaes, GPS don't need aiming.

I bet this guy believes pre-Destroyer Soldiers were the best class in the game.

Of course they do. For the record I don't like any of these weapons, but to say they do not require aiming is just incorrect.

Weapons have always been better in dealing damage (all 3 ME games). This is a TPS with cool abilities that make you more effective in combat. If you don't like shooting you're probably better off playing something else.

Actually a well played power class can be a stupidly good asset in a platinum squad, but for platinum theres no rule of class, only of the skill, a master of their class will assure a smooth match, ive seen justicar/drell doubles annihilating whole flanks, hsols with their claymores headshotting everything, me with my hi covering everyones ass and sniping with harrier/paladin.... i would love to see olaf novaguarding the hell out of all, tho havent seen him in a while :(

That's a silly question.  A lot of weapons are instant hitscan.  A lot of powers arent.  True, Reave and Dark Channel are good distance instants.  However it is incredibly annoying having your throw dodged three times.

Additionally, powers by temselves suck.  It is the combo in the form of TB's, BE's, etc that make them worthwhile.  Do you have anyidea how often a primed glowing blue target shouts, "Shoot me first!"  A lot lol.

Powers aren't the ezmode a lot of people seem to believe.  PLaying a justicar or a Fury require way more risk than a lot of weapon classes.

And no, I'm not an adept fan.

Yes, but the problem is that power combos can't keep up with the reegar, piranha etc anymore. Especially biotics, spamming arc nades and electric slash doesn't count.
The powers and the combos (and the story, doesn't matter gameplay-wise) were what made Mass Effect special, if I want a regular shooter, I'd play something else.

This is true.
