In a previous topic I said that I don't mind the ending that much. After a few days of actual extreme sadness, I realized I do mind. Yes, I've created a very nice ending in my mind, but it's just not enough. I have to actually see Shepard reunited with Kaidan and all of her friends. Screw the artistry of it all. They all deserve a better ending, WE all deserve a better ending. Before going into the final battle, Kaidan told Shepard "I'm gonna fight like hell for the chance to hold you again." And he did fight. And so did she. So they should get to hold each other again, ON SCREEN. We deserve a lot better than pictures in our heads after investing so much emotion into this story. Am I right?

That was abrupt. Sort of like the ending.

Even if it is implied that Shepard lives with high EMS I would have loved to see a reunion scene with Kaidan

Bioware's big flaw in the ending (minus the sheer insanity of it all) is that they dont EXPLAIN. Starkid in the crucible, ok explain why. Explain why he looks like the kid on earth, and why shepard had nightmares of him all game. Explain HOW these options work the way they do, you cant just jump into a beam, absorb your 'essence' and turn everybody in to robots, there has to be a reason it does all that.

You guys can get away with a lot if you simply explained all this craziness instead of it... 'just happens', no rhyme or reason it just happens. Turtles swim on water, not stand on other turtles below it. And thats what ME3's ending is: turtles all the way down.

It would still be a bad ending, but I'd at least feel like replaying the single player part on ME3.

How dare you! You pay BW to use your imagination now use it!
Whiner, entitled gamer, get over it, move on blah blah freakin blah (did I miss any?)
Welcome to the "dark side". You are correct, there needs to be a home coming of sorts, something that makes you say "it just felt right"

Too bad, its part of life, that we don't get what we think is what we want as what we deserve. It's their game, you bought it, played what was there, buyer beware, not all enterainment is created equal..or best for that matter. The game relayed a message, that message is all a story can convey. Just cause we don't like, or even understand what that message is(see:Art &Music;). Everyone is raving about that new Bat man movie, the previews made me Yaaaaaawn, so?!?

tough ****** said the kitty but the milk was..well.. wheres my kit'n kabootles..

You pay bioware for a game, that's it. You don't need a reunion, you don't deserve one, you just want one.

That's exactly how I feel. It's not like there isn't enough loss throughout the trilogy to make it feel "realistic". Plus, there can still be endings in which Shepard dies if that's what some people feel is right. Just give us ONE that actually makes sense for a surviving Shepard.

Uh... that's booboo, OP.

Back in March, my heart got crushed cause the Shepard I'd been playing for five fu*k-nugget years was forced by some smarmy, stupid, blue little sh*t to take a swan dive into awful and drag the whole of the universe down with her as the relays all got destroyed and Joker left my ass without so much as a "See ya!" She died and Liara wound up on a foreign jungle planet and, to the best of my knowledge, the entirety of all civilizations were pretty much slammed into non-existance by the mightiest fist of suck endings imaginable.

I had to live with that for months. I'm more than a bit obsessed with this series; those were not happy months. Now? Now my true paragon, NON-Altruist(!) Shepard killed her good friend EDI, broke Joker's perverted heart and lived. The relays are being rebuilt and her blue honey, refusing to put that name-plate up on the wall, is headed back to get her.

I paid an acceptable price. I got my happy ending. Big ole' lesbo Shepster and her little blue sex kitten making tender, tendriled babies till the cows come home, I don't need anymore. They messed that first one up so bad, so monumentally, stupendously, inconceivably bad, that I will take this small pittance as the hand of the Maker itself.

Don't touch that ending again. It's fine. Leave it the hell alone, before you decide to go back to forcing all the good Shepards to be Neo/Jesus/Non-Morrigan Warden again.

Booboo, OP.

I don't need a reunion.  Though getting one would be a really nice ending.  What I do need is a clear enough path to make such a reunion seem not just plausible, but downright likely.  A faceless torso buried in rubble simply doesn't do it for either.  It's not hope, it's an easter eggImage IPB

In a sense you're right, but if they really felt that way they wouldn't have given in to making an EC. And since they did make it, why not include just ONE happy ending? I doubt they didn't realize some people actually wanted that type of conclusion. After all, they did heroic endings for the first two games (well, unless Shepard died in ME 2, I guess).

Your entitled.

You need everything spoon feed.

You are not smart enough.

You don't understand how fiction works.

Movies do this all the time.

Just move on.

Bioware doesn't make games just for you.

You are the reason that art is being dumbed down.

Use you imagination.

Whine some more.

Stop complaining they gave you the EC.

These are some of the things you will read in this topic. Just save you some time.;)

Exactly. After it took so long for them to find their way back to each other and trust each other again, it's just wrong to end it on a "whatever" note. And I'm sure it applies to all romances.

Of course it won't cut it. It's not real. Headcanon isn't canon. It's mesningless. Nobody's Shepards ever reunited with the Normandy crew. If headcanon wasn't meaningless there would be no point in any of the games. Developers would just give us some background info, set the stage and I'd just make it all up in my head and be satisfied. But we all know that bullsh*t.

Where would different movies end if they got the mass effect treatment?

What if Harry Potter ended after the kid killed the big snake. It cuts back to Harry and Voldemort dueling and then fades to black. The End.

What if the original Star Wars trilogy ended with Luke dragging his father thru a death star that is blowing up around them. Cut to Millenium Falcon flying thru of the core with the fireball's flames showing in the cockpit display as if about to over take it. Fade to black. The End.

What if Lord of the Rings ended with a scene showing Frodo and Sam surrounded by a river of lava. The End.

What is the Matrix ended with Smitherized Neo exploding. Cut to credits. The End.

Art, huh?

How can you explain something that feels like popping up all of a sudden in the last five minutes? You know, proper explanation of such magnitude cannot be achieved with a simple EC, you need more time to properly foreshadow and build up all the stuff they added last minute...

Of course, something like that could have been done if they had actually planned all this, but looking at ME1, ME2 and ME3 I severly doubt anything the current ending contains played a significant role in any of the scripts for ME1 or 2

Anyway, a reunion of Shep and the rest would have made the EC and the endings bearable, maybe even replayable for me...I never cared for clarification of that stupidity, all I hoped for was cutting them out totally, but with Bioware sticking to their guns a reunion was the last hope I had for ME3...but again Bioware failed to meet teh expectations of a very, very large portion of tehir fanbase for...reasons known only to...well...I don't know...
