The outcome:
Video. (might take a few mins for it to become 1080p)

This is raw gameplay, I've put in music suggestions in the description of the video. I realize a lot of people won't bother to watch 44 mins solo, but I decided to keep the video full as it's more than unlikely I will upload another platinum solo. The gameplay does not have any music added to it because 1) I don't know enough good non-copyright songs to fill in 44 in and 2) the people who will bother analyzing the gameplay will learn a lot from in-game sounds and strategies I use when trying to engage or avoid enemies.
The difficulty with soloing platinum comes mostly from the erratic & unpredictable spawn system. Whereas you can control Gold spawns, you can't do any such thing on Platinum. So watching your 6 at all times is a must. And that's obviously very challenging for non-Geth classes. You will see I do get surprised a few times by sneaky enemies. There's a occasions where enemies I've killed seconds ago spawn right next to me, or the closest spawn point. And bearing in mind on platinum the game throws at you hordes of tough enemies, it can mean certain death when you're not prepared for it.
Onto strategy discussion:
The destroyer is good at holding a line. So my main strategy revolved around funneling enemies in tight corridors where I could barrage them with a wall of hyper-velocity rounds or use the GPS to its full potential by hitting multiple enemies. The main flaws of the strategy were that I could easily get flanked. I countered that by turning off all music and started listening for the faint noises the phantoms made when moving around. That really helped determine position and anticipate surprise attacks (unless too much sound obscures their movement, which does happen in the video).
I quickly determined that phantoms were by far the most dangerous enemies on the map because on top of being deadly silent, their long range attacks did more damage than anything else. So I needed a gun & ammo combo to dispose of them quickly.
Loadout:
I had 2 guns - 1 for boss killing, the other for phantom killing. Phantoms do get their own category cause they're bloody annoying. Whoever designed their AI on Platinum did one hell of a job caues these girls barely miss a shot, regenerate faster than Wolverine and slice through 1600 shields like butter.
Both guns had to be good at taking barriers out, so I took warp ammo. Helped out a ton against Banshees & thankfully I only had to deal with 1 prime, so that wasn't a problem. Geth hunters were a problem because warp ammo didn't expose them and GPS didn't really stagger them. So I had to be extra careful when facing those.
Typhoon mods: extended clip + stability. I found those 2 work really well with the typhoon because the main advantage of that gun is when it's on full auto and firing. So the more bullets you have, the better it is. Stability allowed me to put more rounds on target and conserve ammo, even when hip firing.
GPS mods: damage + extended ammo. I needed all the shots I could get basically. Saved me excessive camping near ammo crates (which I still did anyway).
Gear: barrage level V. This thing is good. More ammo on destroyer? Yes, please. More stability on Typhoon? Yes, please. Typhoon has no recoil with this gear and stability attachment. Makes it a beast at any range and with that combo it can stop a banshee in its tracks from 1 end of FB giant to the next. Very accurate and very deadly.
Armor mod: Adrenaline module III. I needed the mobility even though I was sacrificing shields. The objectives cannot be done with poor mobility when soloing.
All of the above also applies to team games & I think this is the ultimate setup for the N7 destroyer.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
